Curtisaxel7:modric ,mandzukic ,rakitic and maybe periodic are decent players. Others are just above average. Am not saying we were better than them o but they defeated us due to Rohr's tactics and formation. On your last paragraph, I will just IGNORE... lol 4 Likes |

2019 will be a very busy year for our football, all our male national teams from U-17 to Super eagles will be playing the nations Cup, wishing them all the best. N.b there's no news about the U-23 nations cup/ Olympic qualifier, what's the gist about it? the Olympics is just next year o. Cc: tbaba1234, icon4s |

andrew444: There are no excuses. These so called world class players did not play us off the park. They simply capitalized on our own mistakes. It was not brilliance from one of their players. My point is that our underrated players matched them for the most part. |

tbaba1234: Matching them for parts of the game is to be expected after all our players are professional players. The bottom line is that we didn't create anything going forward and they did BECAUSE they were better than us in all aspects of the game. These is no other way of dressing this up. Krmaric molested Shehu for as long as he was around. The pony tail defender Vida was like 3 men, our players got confused at the sight of him. Modric and Rakitic were mostly unopposed in midfield. The respectable scoreline and the fact their goals came via set pieces is what is tarnishing our memory of how that game actually unfolded. 12 Likes 1 Share |

wayodude: How many chances were created by Croatia? Croatia had only 2 shots on target, same with Nigeria. One was the penalty. So in 90 minutes, Croatia had 1 shot on target in open play. I did not see that dominance. We lacked creativity and a decent striker but they did not dominate anything. 3 Likes |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by bazooka1: 8:42am On Jan 03, 2019 |
wayodude: Your narrative was very apt. The Croatia game went the same way our pre world cup friendlies went. The Super Eagles were so bad on the day that they couldn't force Croatia to shift gears to beat them. The Croatians played the game as if they deliberately were conserving energy for more demanding games ahead in the tournament. That game was a bad advertisement for Nigerian football. We didn't make na impression at all. The Croatians barely broke a sweat. 4 Likes |

bazooka1: Croatia played 90 minutes with 1 shot on target and they were conserving energy We were simply undone by mistakes. That was a boring 0:0 game if i ever saw one. Nigeria neutralized Croatia in that game fairly easily. It was a poor game from both teams. We just lacked invention going forward. 1 Like |

This is a screenshot of the stats in the Croatian game. Uzoho only had one save to make in 90 minutes Nigeria had more shots overall and same number on target. Possession and corners were fairly even. It is easy to think that we were so terrible because we lost but it was a nothing game with few chances. 2 Likes

tbaba1234: Well, the game didn't end 0-0. We were a goal down in the first half, showed no fight in the second half to get back in the game. Went 2-0 down, still showed no fighting spirit or will to get a goal back, no real chances created. My brother, don't get caught up in the illusion that we kept Croatia at bay because we made errors. When you are a goal down, you fight to bounce back in the game. You don't play to cancel out the opposition at 2 goals down. That is small team mentality. 4 Likes |

tbaba1234: https://www.fifa.com/worldcup/matches/match/300331523/#match-summary Without going to the length of watching the entire match again, the highlights on fifa.com only include one attacking move by Nigeria and the shot at the end of it wasn't worthy of any description. I will clarify what i meant. I wont say they totally dominated Nigeria but what i will say is that they were NEVER in danger in that game, we were on numerous occasions. In the end they did what they had to do to get the win and I think had they needed to step up their game they would have been able to do so. Yea? 2 Likes |

Dannyxy: Statistics are in football indicative and not necessarily Exhaustive in determining ability and delivery. Let me explain. lf you are in a team with limited attacking options and simply don't have the quality players to trouble your opponent. You may more often than not decide to park the bus. As a consequence your players defensive and otherwise will probably have more blocks and tackles. As the season goes on your players may have the highest number of blocks and tackles in the league. Last season Reading had a CB who had the highest number of tackles in the league. They almost got relegated to league one. Does ot make thier CB the best in the league❓ NOT AT ALL. Statistics in this regard should be taken in context of over all play and impact. For instance Zaha doesn't score a lot of goals and assists but drives his whole team forward such is his influence. Attributes not always quantifiable in a statistics count. Nonetheless, some things can not be ignored, for instance, Strikers and forward players should score goals. No argument. But back to the questions: Wilfred Ndidi may statistically be better than Ngolo in terms of tackles but his passing range and over all influence on games is limited, nonetheless l still class him above average. Alex Iwobi has been inconsistent in past season however, he has been more consistent this season. However, his inability to add goals to his delivery is very worrying. He is this season just marginally above average. KC not much to say, there is no hiding place a player that is one Leicester most expensive attacking players at £25 million. He has been abysmal his goal tally totally disgraceful. Some will still make all kinds of excuses for him. Chukwueze shows a lot of promise but he has not played up too 20 professional games in La Liga. It's too early to give him a classification. Even his goal tally is not exceptional yet. He shows great potential. Isaac Success, if you go way back l talked about why Watford bought him and the structure that engineered his transfer. For a big strong striker, he puffs and he huffs but delivers nothing very wasteful in front of goal. He is very far from clinical, how, many goals in three seasons . IMO he is well below average, many will make excuses for him. Kalu I really have not watched him enough to comment that would be unfair. There is an assumption that if you are not doing too well in the Epl if you drop down to the Championship or lower you will become prolific. That's simply not true and that's why l rate a prolific outstanding Lion of a striker in a English lower league than a mouse in the EPL doing nothing. |
