RIP to the Nigerian grunts paying the price when the top brass and politicians aren't affected. Anybody wanting to understand what's going on needs to read closely these 3 articles which I've shared before: https://peccaviconsulting./2018/09/17/battle-of-the-fobs-boko-haram-iswaps-2018-rainy-season-offensive-1/ https://peccaviconsulting./2018/09/27/battle-of-the-fobs-boko-haram-iswaps-2018-rainy-season-offensive-2/ https://peccaviconsulting./2018/11/30/game-changers-in-the-north-eastern-nigerian-security-situation/ |

ugo4u: Dude the money spent in fighting this war for almost a decade now without any meaningful progress only goes to show that the NA is incompetent and needs total overhauling. From the onset all we've ever heard has been lack of weapons and yet army bases keep getting sacked and weapons get looted by insurgents. Makes one wonder if it's the lack of adequate sophisticated weapons or lack of combat training and bravery that's causing us this war. I really suggest the government leverages on it's ego and do what the past government did when it was losing territory by contracting foreign mercenaries. The South African STTEP run by Eeben Barlow saw the Nigerian Army regaining it's lost territory and personnel morale got boosted. It's either that or nothing because we can't keep on running in circles. The last $1bn was released to the army last year for equipment purchases but yet our soldiers got killed like flies and bases got overran. Let's stop wasting our lean resources and actually invest in a solution that works. 1 Like |

In the french military, every soldier gets commando training. Not every soldier is a commando, but every soldier got commando training. Training never stops in the french military especially the french foreign legion. When these guys are not in the war front or not on leave, they are training. I know for a fact that the Nigerian military trains very little. That video of the exchange of fire with Boko Haram made the Nigerian military look like a rag tag Force. I didn't see a fighting force there. These guys are badly led and badly trained. 1 Like |

Aircraft is a MI-35M. Casualties but can't confirm how many. The fear is night ops will be reduced now as the capability to bring down an aircraft by BHT has to be addressed. It "probably" won't be an easy night for ground troops for the next few days. This is also a time the terrorist are being strategic. |

]UPDATE ON CRASH OF NAF HELICOPTER IN COMBAT It is with a heavy heart that I announce the death of the 5 crew members who were on board the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Mi-35M Helicopter which crashed in combat yesterday, 2 January 2019, while providing close air support to troops of 145 Battalion, Damasak in Borno State. The deceased personnel, whose remains have been recovered to Maiduguri, are: a. Flight Lieutenant Perowei Jacob - Pilot in Command. b. Flight Lieutenant Kaltho Paul Kilyofas - Co-Pilot. c. Sergeant Auwal Ibrahim - Flight Technician. d. Lance Corporal Adamu Nura - Gunner. e. Aircraftman Meshack Ishmael - Gunner. These gallant fallen heroes made the supreme sacrifice in the service of our Fatherland, for which the NAF, and indeed the entire Nation, owes them an unending debt of gratitude. The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, on behalf all officers, airmen, airwomen and civilian staff of the NAF, commiserates with the families of the 5 fallen heroes and prays that the Almighty grants their souls peaceful repose. The CAS was in Maiduguri today, 3 January 2019, to convey the condolences of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Muhammed Buhari, to personnel of the Air Task Force Operation LAFIYA DOLE over the unfortunate loss. While in Maiduguri, the CAS also received a condolence visit from the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai. The NAF appreciates the overwhelming support shown by the general public to the Service over the sad incident. We continue to solicit your understanding and support as we daily strive to ensure the security of Nigeria and Nigerians. bidexiii: It seems the NA doesn't understand the position of things, or maybe they do but are simply trying to amuse us for the festive period. The terrorists we are fighting are already in control of the narrative, and all these forceful and emotional press releases will only be seen as what they are; thinly veiled attempts to whitewash a corrupt and decadent military. They keep calling BH/ISWAP ragtag drug addicts, but those same people are slapping you silly and collecing bases from you with frightening ease,as if they are collecting biscuit . What does that say about you who are not drug addicts?. It shows that you aren't taking this issue seriously and that is disappointing for me as a Nigerian. It is not wrong for citizens to demand results from the military, and the longer this war drags on, the more they should expect interference from civilians and "all comers". Before this war, most Nigerian believed they had the best military in Africa and one of the best in the world. Some will even brag(in those moments when they are nursing a bottle of gulder and feeling the warmth of hot pepper soup seeping through their belly ), that the US can't defeat us in a war of attrition. That was how high we placed our military. But now, people don't seem to understand what is going on, the situation isn't really encouraging anymore. Yet you expect people to sing your praise, for what?. The NA should put their house in order and find a permanent solution to this BH question, instead of all these bogus press releases and verbose articles. If the army sits up and does its job in a spectacular manner, even the most hardened critics will have nothing to smear the organization with. If they try, people will be the ones to stand up and tell them to shut up. For example, look at the Operation Python Dance that has commenced nationwide, when people are expecting to hear concrete actions against BH from the army, they are busy launching a pointless military exercise this close to the general elections, an exercise that will further feed the narrative of the opposition and dissident groups like IPOB. With such actions, the army simply comes across as being heavily politicized. Nobody will respect you if you don't give them a reason to, and at the end of the day, they will sabotage the little good you want to do because they don't trust you 5 Likes |

bidexiii:n Lol. This Egyptian guy is here just to show you Nigerians up. In a thread full of crappy outdated Nigerian equipment and reports of horrible military performance he's here on the regular posting up Egypt's vastly superior equipment and professionalism. Probably laughing his azz off while doing it too. I find it all hilarious. 4 Likes |

EricBloodAxe: When I saw this clip I thought it was some stage managed tomfoolery for the TV cameras, I did not think for one minute it was a real life fire encounter of sorts, hence i have omitted the use of the word fight. Can somebody please confirm irrespective of whether this was 2017 or not, that this not true , cause what i see hear by several hundred soldiers facing a couple of insurgents is utter indisciplined confused chaos, IS NOT TRUE. Otherwise, I think i will now go on another enforced holiday from this discourse before i get arrested for unpatriotic abuse. |

HORRORIZON:How about you shut the fvck up if you don’t know something ? The Mi-35M is nowhere close to junk. And the incident happened at 7pm, tell me what junk helicopter has night flying capabilities, what junk helicopter can target and engage hostile enemy forces at night ? HORRORIZON:You're so poorly informed. The MI-35M is one of the world's best attack helicopters. Air losses are acceptable in warfare. The problem is we don't have enough of the MI-35M in our inventory. A minimum of 40 MI-35M helicopters is what we need. 6 Likes |

The irony During the 2nd gulf war a Apache attack helicopter was shot down by a iraqi farmer using his hunting rifle and that too a hit by a single .308 bullet was all it took to bring the Apache down. The World is not about facts , the world is all about possibilities. Don't understand the hard and fast rule type of mentality here MI35 is a good as it gets for its class , and on a bad day it can get shot down too. The lives of the crew matter most , they should have survived . 4 Likes 1 Share |

Mafialeader: Compared to what they can be buying and using but are too corrupt and careless to do so; yup JUNK! I'm not trying to be vindictive; I'm not even Nigerian, hell I'm not even African.. and Nigeria as a whole, in all of it's realms of performance pisses me off. Over the past 18 years of observation I really expected much much better out if that nation by now. I feal sorry for you guys who have no choice but to deal with all of that triflingness that goes on there, and just hope and pray on the seemingly mythical better time that looks as though will never come. |
