donchukey: Pls I work with a federal agency. I am looking at spending my annual leave in the United States with my wife (Miami). I have never travelled before. I and my wife are both first timers, we have 6 kids but we don't intend travelling with them. What are the required documents? with a bank statement of 3million, what are our chances of getting a visa? Take a chance. No one can predict if you will be denied or not |

Hello house, myself and my mom have been called for further interview since receiving our returned passports from dhl dropbox. I tried to schedule an interview which i did as the dates that came up were in June so since we are not in a hurry to travel i left it like that. However, on the appointment confirmation, its only my moms details that show up as well as the visa fee. Myself who is a dependent on her didnt show up as well as my own fee paid and number of applicants is also stipulated as 1 when infact we are 2. Should i be worried about this? |

Next thing to happen will be clear to you between tomorrow most likely and Monday tops.... If it doesn’t change to ISSUED by then, expect a 221g decision for you to schedule an appointment for interview. Worry less for now sha. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

borvick: Happy New Year to you all!
Please l need a guide on this. I have a daughter of 19 years, a 400L university student, (she still have a year to round up) she has no travel experience.
I would like to travel to US with her for holiday, her passport will expire by Dec 2019.
Please advice me on how to go about it and the chances she has. Do you have travel history as family? if no why not travel somewhere else for now and build your travel history. |

Visa approved today. I have been a silent follower and this forum actually helped put me through all the steps needed.
Appointment was for 6.30am I was 8 in line but second to be interviewed by the white guy in window 3. The lady before me who was a Medical Doctor going for MPH also got her student visa approved. Every other window I observed were busy dishing out blue papers mostly to students.
I noticed the VO that interviewed me took his time interviewing the lady with student visa before approving her unlike others.
My transcript
VO: Why are you going to the US Me: I am going for the initial convening of the Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity program.
VO: Tell me about this fellowship Me: It's a non residential fellowship for a year with 3 physical convenings in Us and Rwanda. It trains global leaders and professionals working in diverse areas to foster health equity.
VO: How would this benefit you? Me: I work for an organization that provides free oral healthcare to the less privileged. This will enable me learn from leaders in health equity how to build a more sustainable health organization, the mentoring and online courses is also an added advantage since it will put me through organizing different community projects.
VO: This organization you work for provides only free dental care. (He didn't ask for the name) Me: Yes, I am a Dentist
VO: And you founded this organization Me: Yes I did
VO: Kept typing for a long time, I guess he was searching for my organization. He apologized for taking too long that the system was loading. Me: No problem
VO: Have you been outside Nigeria before? Me: Yes, I had my degree in Ukraine, went to Slovakia in 2009, Uk 2012, Ghana 2016
VO: What were you doing in Slovakia? Me: Clinical elective/rotation
VO: Uk? Me: Visiting family
VO: Ok, your visa has been approved..... Me: Thanks
He didn't ask if I was married or had children, also didn't ask how much I earned and all. No documents were requested.
Thanks everyone. 21 Likes |

The issue here is that U.S Embassy do not issue visa like they used to do... (i.e. 100 per day has turned to 10 per day) If your reason for traveling to U.S is not strong ( mostly tourism and visiting) they will denied you flatly especially if you don't have good travel history. I will advise you to travel to places like Dubai, Southeast Asia and Europe. 3 Likes 1 Share |

To get something as mundane as visa, someone will have to crack his head, and jump through many hoops and eventually Thank God of he getz the visa in Nigeria
Is this how low it has gotten to?
I will apply later this year tho, and see how it goes.
if it goes well fine, if not, fine. 4 Likes 1 Share |

I need to leave for the US in March, but I've read in a lot of places that the chance of getting one's visa approved is now very low. Thanks to Trump.
My case: I just started working for a startup and they'd like me to come over for a month to meet the team and to get a grasp of the business.
My profile right now doesn't look that compelling because I don't have strong ties like being in a marriage. I don't have any property worth mentioning either and more importantly, I don't have a travel history.
Apart from an invitation letter, what other things should I require of the company?
More importantly, what are my chances of getting my visa approved? 1 Like |

More importantly, what are my chances of getting my visa approved? Not it's not Trump's fault for the very strict scrutiny of US visa approvals. Blame it on the very high increase in US visa abusers who have overstayed there legal presence in the US and has increase the number of illegal(undocumented) immigrants residing in the US. Anyways, to answer your question about your chances of getting the US visa now that's a 50/50 and it will depend on how convincing your ties are and will be believed by the US visa officer. 3 Likes |
