kunle75:I am not accusing you of supporting anything or anyone. I had to ask you that question because, one, you made a generalised statement which is "Engineering section at the Airport" , and two, Nigerian engineers and airports are only synonymous to agencies and not ministries. I work (as an engineer) at one of the Nigerian airports too and the only engineers you will find at the airport are usually NAMA, FAAN, NCAA, NIMET usually agencies (and private ones like Julius Berger and co) and trust me the grade level 8 (entry level) of these guys are usually above 70k let alone very senior engineers and/or their directors. 1 Like 1 Share |

kevoh: Well sorry am the wrong person to ask such questions because am not a civil servant neither am i an engineering worker at any airport. But that doesn't rule out the fact about what the guy told me,you can do the findings yourself Btw the engineers you guys have at that airport as members must be very filthy going by what i saw and your very own assertion that staff needs to keep their working environment clean. Just an observation no offense |
Re: Exposed: Level 16 Workers In Kwara Earn N71,000 by kevoh(m): 7:08am On Jan 04, 2019 |
kunle75:I am not offended. That is why I mentioned in my previous post, which of course you conveniently ignored, that if an office is dirty I will blame the officers using the office before anyone. Here's where I mentioned it : kevoh: kunle75:The bolded is where your problem is. You keep lumping all engineers from different agencies in the airport together while I am trying my best to educate you on this misleading information. There's nothing like engineering section of the airport. What you have are different engineering units of various agencies who have different offices in the airport (it could be small/tiny but it is still an office). Whether it is dirty or not is now left to the officers using that office. About what the guy told you, if the guy is a Kwara state government worker he surely could be earning that very low salary but which state government worker and us an engineer works in the airport? What is their role (the state govt worker) at the airport? That is why I asked you the question in the first place. The agencies (not ministry/state govt)are the ones usually working in the airport and have major roles and are not on the payroll of Kwara state but FG or even paying themselves. 2 Likes |

Re: Exposed: Level 16 Workers In Kwara Earn N71,000 by bigdoo: 7:31am On Jan 04, 2019 |
If a level 16 civil servant earns only N145,000.00 per month, then government is the one aiding and abating corruption in Nigeria. That kind of money should be for level 1 civil servants. How can a person even survive on N145,000.00 per month in Nigeria? I still can't figure it out. Why shouldn't the workers be corrupt and why shouldn't they steal at the slightest opportunity? More so when they are aware that some set of civil servants earn N14 million monthly in the same country of ours as allowance alone. I know how hard things are in Nigeria because I come to Nigeria regularly, and N150,000.00 is hardly sufficient for my energy needs alone in one month. With N2,500.00 per day I can only afford 8 hours of electricity with my generators and on the average N3,000.00 fuel is what I need for my cars on a daily basis. So my energy monthly expenditure is N165,000.00, more than a level 16 worker's salary. This is sheer wickedness on the part of the government, which allocates billions of naira to governors as security vote, which the governors don't even account to anybody for and they only provide security for themselves and their families. This system must change and the people cannot continue to suffer in silence. Please do something. 2 Likes |

kunle75: You, yourself, are not going to be excused either! You can not just stroll to the airport to do an installationand not know the name of agency or ministry you are doing the installation for. It does not work that way. At least, you would have been given a job completion certificate when done with the name of the agency/ministry/organization boldly written on it. But all is well, won't drag this much further 1 Like |

Wha most of us rushing to comment due to hatred for man name that was used as headlline.... Please note- 1. He is not the. Present governor so he isn't the one to be attacked 2. Base on the low minimum wage kwara is paying due to its IGR will be low but a level 16 officer salary can never be below 110k.. Let's try and be plain...... Don't just rush to comment because of hatred without checking facts.... how much is lagos generating as IGR and how is there minimum wage?? Btw lagos salary scale is very low compare to the IGR they generate

Re: Exposed: Level 16 Workers In Kwara Earn N71,000 by kevoh(m): 7:42am On Jan 04, 2019 |
bigdoo:There are level 16 officers in other government agencies that earn times three or even four times of the amount you mentioned but are usually revenue generating agencies who generate their own money and can sufficiently pay the staff (salary/allowances) with their revenue. The problem is states like Kwara rarely generate or even bother to generate anything meaningful and only depend on the allocation that is shared at the FAAC meetings. It is from this paltry allocation that the state government will use to run the state and pay salaries. |

This is very true! I remembered when I was about rounding up my service year ( I served in UBE Secondary School, Kaiama, Kwara State, now Mora Tasude Secondary School). The school principal asked how much will my salary be if they retain me as one of their teachers. I told him #80,000, he shouted that even Level 17 of the Kwara State Civil Service doesn't take that amount. I was shocked. The man locked himself in his office and cried for hours. So if you think this story is false, go to Kwara State and fact check it. Good morning ma 12 Likes 3 Shares |
