Flight gurus: please for those who have used Egypt air, did you have to pay for your seat? I'm trying to book a seat and everything says chargeable seats angry
Is it necessary to pay for it ?(there's no particular choice for any seat)
Will you be assigned a seat if you don't book one?
Or just pay for it to avoid stories?

I'm in interested in knowing how the rules are enforced, basically the reality on ground.

joo2018:
Guys,

I was browsing on size of apartment vis-a-vis rental costs and size of family in Canada as per of preparations. Questions of whether one should first manage with 1-room or 2-rooms apartemnt or deplete one's POF on a 3-room.

I came across these links on housing standards:
https://meteor.aihw.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/386254
http://www23.statcan.gc.ca/imdb/p3Var.pl?Function=DEC&Id=100731
https://info.prepareforcanada.com/blog/how-many-rooms-do-i-need-for-a-large-family-in-canada

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation's (CMHC) National Occupancy Standard basically has rules for how many people can be in a house:
* no more than two people shall share a bedroom

* parents or couples may share a bedroom

* children under 5 years, either of the same gender or opposite gender may share a bedroom

* children under 18 years of the same gender may share a bedroom

* a child aged 5 to 17 years should not share a bedroom with a child under 5 of the opposite gender

* single adults 18 years and over and any unpaired children require a separate bedroom

I'm in interested in knowing how the rules are enforced, basically the reality on ground.

You will be assigned a seat , don’t worry . But if you have a preference ( e.g, some people like window seat , you can either pay for it or wait for 24 hours to your departure , you will be able to choose a seat without paying a dime )

This is a number for a Nigerian Canadian WhatsApp group with an area code in Alberta including Calgary (403) 926-0556. You can join the group to ask if there is a specific WhatsApp group for Edmonton or Calgary.

I have also another number for another Nigerian Canadian WhatsApp group which is 5878895565

If there is no WhatsApp group for Calgary or Edmonton, maybe you can create one.

Cc: Gracias

It's better you obey all these rules accordingly. The enforcement agency might not come and knock on your door but when you start filling for tax returns or child support benefits a problem can arise. I am not 100 percent sure but I think the enforcement agency can detect it from your lease which indicates the number of rooms you rent ( Landlord might also submit your lease when they file for thier own tax returns). For instance, If you already indicate you have 3 children or claim child support for three children, meanwhile you're renting a one-bed room appartment, they can detect you're disobeying the rule. Its better you follow the rule and avoid any setback. Therr is nothing like reality or unreal Canada. All the rules will be enforced in one way or another.

One way will be via school as kids talk.
School teachers have the mandate to report to law enforcement or children protection services anything inappropriate or unethical a child may say or tell his friends. And those agencies will further investigate what a child has said.
Teachers in Canada may lose their jobs or face charges for failing to report any case of abuse or something inappropriate they may overheard in school or classrooms.

This is how issue of a 7 year old boy sharing a bedroom with his 8 year old sister may come to light. And the government agency that has jurisdiction over this case will be notified. The landlord can also get in trouble.

@joo2018 it depends on your landlord and preferences. I don’t think most landlords would rent a 2 bed condo for instance to a family with 3 kids. Some would but most would opt to go with a family with 1 or 2 kids over 3. In this instance I am using kids to refer to 0-5yrs

Correct
Landlords will usually ask how many people are involved

No every seat isn't chargeable o. The chargeable ones are the ones with much leg room/comfort. I chose my seats before hand so I don't know about assigning.

This can be very confusing to be honest. Maybe it depends on Airline (like EgyptAir), or it seems a lot of airline are joining the cash grab parole. I bought tickets to Europe on WestJet-dot-com a few days ago, and all the seat selections were not free. Price ranged from $8 to $48. $48 being the seats with biggest leg space and $8 being for seats with smallest leg space. Some say paying for advance seat selection only applies to Economy tickets. It is best to read the airline's policy on advanced seat selection.
