Kenyan situation is sad. Only Nairobi and few towns has power, the rest is a dark condemned world.I think we should blame Kenya's tribalism. May be those rural folks aren't kikuyus.

Why Kenya is a failed state?
And why Kenya is dark? Where is your electricity which you religiously brag about?

It seems you don't understand where your country lays on the map. Don't embarrass yourself anymore. Here is Tanzania and Kenya on you map. The bright lights you think are in Tanzania are actually in Kenya.

The Gold Coast Aborigines' Rights Protection Society (ARPS) was an African association critical of colonial rule, formed in 1897 in the former Gold Coast, as Ghana was then known. Originally established by traditional leaders and the educated elite to protest the Crown Lands Bill of 1896 and the Lands Bill of 1897, which threatened traditional land tenure, the Gold Coast ARPS became the main political organisation that led organised and sustained opposition against the colonial government in the Gold Coast, laying the foundation for political action that would ultimately lead to Ghanaian independence.[1][2] J.W. de Graft-Johnson, Jacob Wilson Sey, J. P. Brown, J. E. Casely Hayford, and John Mensah Sarbah were co-founders.[3]

Daejoyoung:

For a developing country growing at 2% with a 400Billion dollars economy, it's not that bad relative to other developing countries,it becomes very bad only when we consider the growing population and that is the only problem with the Nigerian growth at 2%.
Kenya on the other hand should be growing above 10% for the next 5years since they look up to South Africa and want to measure up with them in 5-10 years.
South Africa with the same population as that of Kenya has a 300 Billion dollars economy and is growing at 2% as well, at that rate you can't compare that Kenyan 8% to the current South African situation ( which is still way better).

It is bad when that $400 billion (It's actually somewhere between $300 and $370 billion according to credible sources) is being shared among 200 million people. FYI Luxermbourg, the richest country in the world, has a GDP of only $70 billion. It's economic growth rate is a mere 0.4% and it rarely goes above 1%. That is a decenct economic growth for a rich country like Luxermbourg whose GDP is lower than Nigeria's. See? It's not the absolute figure that matters but the per capita figure. Nigeria has a GDP per capita of less than $2000. A country like that should never be allowed to grow at below 5%. Stop comparing yourself with SA. South Africa's population is a quarter of yours.

The Gold Coast ARPS became a voice for the rights of indigenous peoples by both broadcasting their aims in their own newspaper, Gold Coast Aborigines, and advocating on behalf of indigenous land rights by presenting the reasons for their dissent of the Lands Bill of 1897 in front of the Legislative Council.[4] Particularly, John Mensah Sarbah, a key member of the Gold Coast ARPS and a lawyer, helped to advocate against the introduction of the Lands Bill of 1897 by arguing that it was no different from a previous, unsuccessful bill in 1894; that its introduction would break family and society ties, and that the land was valuable to indigenous peoples for its religious significance.

Gold coast ARPS is a branch of Aborigines protection right formed in London by none Ghanians. It was not a political party. grin

For a population of 28 million, Ghana is doing better than all African countries except SA, Botswana, Namibia, Gabon, Mauritius, Sychelles and Equatorial Guinea in terms of cities. You have to be a complete slowpoke not to see this.
