Surulere,Lagos - Nigeria low income areas (wizKid sang about this area) Street scenes Lagos development is evenly distrusted, most areas in Lagos are well planned , they have Good roads networks, good drainage systems, side walks and good traffic systems. I challenge Kenyans on this thread to show us street scene of other areas of Nairobi, aside, CBD,Uppper hill, westland , show us "Street views" of of other areas of Nairobi such as Kitengela, Ngong, Buruburu, thika, Langata,Rongai, south c and B , Kitisuru, Nyari, Kyuna, Lower Kabete , Kangemi, Kawangware,Waithaka, Zimmerman and Dagoretti . we only need street scenes and not areal views. 2 Likes 1 Share

forgiveness:The aftermath of Asante (or Sagrenti) War of 1874 which led to the landmark introduction of the Gold Coast Constitution of 1874 and the annexation of the Asante Kingdom to become a British Protectorate in 1885, can hardly be overlooked by history enthusiasts and constitutional lawyers. Thus for the first time in our history, Gold Coast had two distinct organs of government- a Legislative Council and Executive Council. The presence of John Mensah Sarbah (the first Gold Coast lawyer) as a Council appointed member and his launching of the Aborigines’ Rights Protection Society later in 1898, against the backdrop of Colonial Legislation which sought to convert all Gold Coast’s lands into Crown land, that was defeated and repealed, demonstrated perhaps, the genuine interest of the British Colonial rulers in constitutionalism (7). Assuming this was true; one might have argued that why then the War of 1900? It must be considered that although the Legislative Council of 1874 was a significant step for the Gold Coaster, the Council was composed of just three unofficial members and four official members presided over by the Governor who had the sole power of policy formulation and implementation. The 1916 Constitution wherein more official members- three Paramount Chiefs and three educated Gold Coasters were added to the Council, sought, arguably, to address this constitutional deficit. But it left much to be desired by the Gold Coaster ( |

Nairobi is such a pathetic city... Houses the highest slums in Africa. . Add to the fact that its danm expensive... Yet, despite Kenya’s growth and status as East Africa’s large economy, 61% of Kenyans in cities live in slums, a figure that’s likely to get worse as Kenyan cities add 500,000 people a year. In Nairobi, a lack of affordable housing has made it one of the most expensive cities in Africa. https://www.google.com/amp/s/qz.com/africa/955436/more-than-half-of-the-urban-population-in-east-africas-largest-economy-live-in-slums/amp/ Nairobi and Mombasa are the only standard cities Kenya can boost of...remove the port in Mombasa and its just Nairobi. .everything Kenya is Nairobi... No wonder its population keep swelling up. and since houses are expensive, people move to the slums... |

mtisTheQubit:That's because you did your calculation yearly instead of quarterly. For Example 2019 growth is 2.26pct. 2.26% * 397/100 = 8.9bn * 4 (4 quarters in a year Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4) = 35bn. 35bn + 394bn (2018 data) = 432bn. Mind you this is a rough calculation. |

Just30: Was that the first election in Ghana? That was legislative council handpicked by the British. Nigeria already had that kind of system of legislative council as far back as1862 but forced their way to have elections in 1922. Ghana never did election until 1925. I know you don't know but I just have to help you out. Show me where Ghanian where given the opportunity to excercise their franchise through election in 1874. 1 Like 1 Share

forgiveness:only a small part of Ghana was colonised as at 1874 the largest part of Ghana joined British rule in 1902 The resulting tension leads to warfare in the 1820s (with the defeat of a British force in 1824) and again in the 1870s. In 1874 a British army briefly occupies Kumasi. Meanwhile, in the coastal regions, the British are gradually emerging as the main European power. The Danish fortresses (including the impressive Christiansborg castle in Accra) are bought by the British government in 1850. The last Dutch merchants abandon the coast in 1870. And in 1874 the southern regions are formally proclaimed a British colony, under the name Gold Coast. But it takes another three decades before the Ashanti kingdom, and its dependencies in the north, are finally brought under British control. The regions further north become at the same time the Protectorate of the Northern Territories of the Gold Coast. The colonial years are relatively prosperous and untroubled. At first little is done to involve the African population in the political processes of the colony. Prof Falade stated way back in pre recession 2011 their GDP per capita was only 1100$. The Naijjans were shocked and started squealing about Nollywood and peanut farming. The statistics according to him showed that, low figure for GDP per capital income of $1,154 and a high percent of the population that is poor, of which 54 per cent is said to be the population figure living below one dollar per day Read more at: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/10/half-of-nigerians-live-in-slums-un/ Look at his bio-he should know! 1 Like |
