forgiveness: Ehn bro, take it easy.. don't drag the matter too far.. I dunno why some people will just conclude that Nigeria doesn't have the facilities to host the AFCON. its nonsense... We have hosted the afcon,U-17 and u-20 world cup,all Africa games and many other sport events within the last 20 years.. We have the facilities . But getting our stadia ready to host this afcon within 6 months plus other things involved in organising the tournament will be difficult... We are in an election period. There's simply not enough time. Even the South African FA didn't receive the support from their government when they decided to bid for the tournament cus it's also an election year there and their economy isn't really good ATM... So,given the current state of event in Nigeria,we can't host the tournament.. .. 1 Like |

Danielnino00: I agree with you about Senegal. There are certain countries that are natural Perennial under achievers in Africa. Senegal, Algeria and Morocco are on that list. Another team is Mali. While Countries like Cameroon and Egypt often over achieve. As for Nigeria, I don't know which position yet to place them on the list of favorites but I will rate our chances of winning higher than those of Tunisia and Morocco. 1 Like |

Danielnino00: We were given ample time to prepare for both Nigeria 95/99 and Nigeria 2009 but the slow pace of work by the LOC was an issue in both cases. Now we want to give Nigeria 6 months to prepare There are projects in Nigeria that have been in construction since 2005. 1 Like |

Icon4s: 2017 was Senegal best chance to win the AFCON IMO... As for Morocco,Herve Renard being their coach is what makes me believe they have what it takes to win it...But let's see sha.. Which underdog do you think can spring some surprise? its only Uganda I can think of.. |

Danielnino00: The thing just dey pepper me for mind. How can dey just assume Nigeria doesn't have the facilities to host AFCON? Anyway, I just wanted them to know we can host the AFCON based on the facilities on ground but if we say we can't due to the upcoming election, no wahala. I partially agree. |

Icon4s: I don't. Our target since the world cup has been to win the nations cup. Most of us were in agreement knowing that our biggest rivals in Cameroon were hosting but now that Egypt has taken over the story has changed. I still maintain that we will win the 2019 AFCON, no shaking. |

Danielnino00: In Africa we have Grade A, B and C Teams. The Grade A Teams are usually the top favorites and are often the seeded teams while Grade B Team are those Teams that are not favorites but are capable of hurting the Grade A Teams if they take their chances. And the Grade C Teams are teams that u know will hardly cross the group stage or that their greatest achievement could be the qualification for the next round. From experience, Teams that spring surprises are the Grade B teams and not Grade C. I consider Uganda as a Grade C Team. Forget that we drew them in that friendly. They are not much of a gifted side. Zambia was a Grade B Team prio to when they won the AFCON in 2012. Burkina Faso was a Grade B team also pro to when they played in the 2013 AFCON final. Even Cameroon was a Grade B leading to the 2017 AFCON, they were not among the favorites. Even though I know the favorites already, on the team(s) that can create surprises in this AFCON I would want to see the final list of qualifiers as some of the countries that may create surprises are still yet to seal qualification. 1 Like |

Hosting AFCON is the least of every serious thing on the minds of Nigerians. Only a delusional forgiveness thinks a nation ravaged by wars can host an international competition. iswap and boko haram are still holding sway in many communities, dislodging folks from their homes. Futhermore, the fates of Nigerians are yet unknown as regards to what would be the outcome of the presidential elections. |
