HUNDREDS of angry military pensioners in the country Monday besieged the Oyo State Secretariat saying they regretted fighting against Biafran soldiers to ensure the unity of the country.

They said if they had known that the country would repay them in this wicked manner, they would have fought for the survival and sovereignty of Biafra.

The retired soldiers who spoke through their Chairman, Mr. Mr. Gabriel Oiakhena said, “we have been pushed to the wall. The families of over 500,000 soldiers who lost their lives in Biafra are suffering.

We who are alive are just living as destitute. Many of us have died because they did not have money to treat and fend for themselves. Senator David Mark has spent about twelve years and he has done nothing for us.

When the militants were pushed to the wall, they took up arms and fought with the last pint of their blood”.

Also speaking on the issue, another ex-soldier, Mr. Olatunji Johnson said they came to draw the attention of Federal Government to their 53 per cent unpaid arrears and other allowances.

To prevent breakdown of law and order, all gates leading to the secretariat complex were shut against the angry pensioners.

Armoured Personnel Carrier, five police Hilux Vans and scores of armed policemen were stationed at the entrance of the secretariat.

Displaying the injuries they sustained in the Biafran War and many placards condemning the discouraging attitude of the government, they said it was unfortunate that they were being treated in this inhuman manner after fighting for the unity of the country.

He said their mission to the office of Governor Abiola Ajimobi was to present a letter on their plight to him for onward delivery to President Goddluck Jonathan.

He said, “we will not allow the government to rest until our money and other entitlements are paid. Many of us are still being paid N10,000 as monthly pension while they are wasting millions over there. It is not fair”.

All those that fought for one Nigeria were/are not treated well up till today.

People of middle of belt are crying for secession more than Igbos today. Before Igbos start feeling the impact of herdsmen, people of middle belt must have gone into extinction. (God forbids)
Adenkunle nko?, his death and circumstances behind it is not pleasant to the ears , despite his sacrifice for Nig, Nigeria has refused to honour him up till today.

What of awolowo and how he died?, the calamity that befell him was very horrible. grin grin , His story cannot be over emphasised . No state burial despite his sacrifice for Nigeria .
Even Ojukwu who was a "rebel" received the highest state burial from the government he fought against while those that fought for One Nigeria were killed and buried like common criminals by the same government they fought for, while the remaining ones are grinding their teeth like these old men.
Well, all of us are in this contraption together today , but one thing is certain... Nigeria MUST break one day. Nigeria won't remain United forever. It's a matter of time. If 3 yrs solid war could not stop Biafran agitation, I don't think nothing on earth can stop it again.
Nigeria is not worth fighting for, neither it worth dying for.
These old men should save their strengths and tears for their generation because they need it most.
Igbos wouldn't even want you to fight for them anyways ....

Lalasticlala over to you.

I dread of them to have fought for the sovereignty of Yorubas as Ojukwu was fighting for the sovereignty of his own people, they chose to fight for the Sokoto Caliphate in the name of 'one Nigeria'

To this day, the average Yoruba thinks Ojukwu was a fool to fight for the freedom of his people while Awolowo was wise to hide under Gowons skirt

It wasn't a just war, morally and legally. The Biafrans had right to self determination and that's why their struggle has not been rejected by the committee of nations today. The ex soldiers made a terrible error of judgement.

I think you guys should go easy on them! Even if they didn't apologise for the innocent blood spilled to sustain such an evil contraption that first and foremost benefits the Fulani oligarchy....at least they've expressed some form of 'buyers remorse' for what their actions has brought about!

For a second, just close your eyes and imagine the kind of progressive nations that would have arisen in the southern part of Nigeria if Biafra had succeeded! Going by what Awo said about the choice of his people if Biafra is allowed to secede, i doubt the Yoruba would have stayed behind to be doing 'one Nigeria' with the north! They would have broken away themselves to form their own country, and most likely there would have been healthy competition between them and Biafra which would have seen whatever nations that emerged from the southern part of Nigeria become the most developed and peaceful regions in Africa....they would have been nations in the true sense of the word!

The mistake of those men made to fought biafra is the same mistake most Yoruba youths are making today. Each time biafra issue comes up they will be the one that will never want biafra to see the light of the day. The love the mess in Nigeria more than houseflies love shit.

The assertion in your first paragraph is true....to some extent! But it's more the core northern muslim oligarchy than the poor talakawas that are benefiting from 'one Nigeria'. Problem is, these talakawa are largely uninformed and zombified to the extent that they are oblivious to the fact they are the main pillars propping up their oppressors!

There seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel if i continue sharing the same country with this sad lot, and this is why i want out!

Nigerians assuredly recognizes the options before us come February 2019, obviously the right choice is an Atiku team[A-Team] at the helm of affairs. Every vote cast for Wazirin Adamawa will be an eloquent repudiation of the A.P.C. government, our votes will mark an epoch as well as monuments for us and generation yet unborn because through the ballot box we will challenge sense of lethargy ,hopelessness, resignations, frustrations and the hypocrisy of an oppressive capricious A.P.C led government . An Atiku Presidency will further defeat the militating factors that impede our journey to a deserved greatness amongst the comity of nations. In deference to President Obama and for our people in the intervening months leading up to the elections, Our votes will proclaim “an end to the petty grievances, lopsided corruption, insurgency, nepotism and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas that for so long have strangled our politics” Alhaji Atiku Abubakar buoyed by the audacity of hope on your imminent emergence as the next civilian President of our beloved country. I make bold to write that your mandate to rule Nigeria come 2019 is a “divine call” merely vested on you in trust and as a caretaker for the masses of Nigeria. It is neither for any emerging cabal nor political mongers even the over patronized elites cannot appropriate undue benefits. It would be in recognition of the “unsung, uncelebrated and anonymous Nigerians. Nigeria's Kekenapep Shape is our problem.

Let our 36 Constitutional States be Fully Autonomous of Police, Resources and Electioneering security control.

Each Constitutional State to be able to establish for herself "STATE POLICY SECURITY COMMISSION(SPSC) made up of:-

1, Two very senior Traditional Rulers from each Local Government of the State as Members.

2, Two SANs from the State to serve as Secretaries only for the Commission.

Do these, the Igbos and the Yorubas will be rid of Fulani immoralities forever.

This is no buyer's remorse! They only made these statements because they hadn't got rewarded for their evil deeds; rather they have been forced to sit and watch the same wretched bastards that deceived them rake in millions daily while the kith and kin of those they murdered in cold blood flourish and rise above their evil ways. If their remuneration and pensions had been paid as and when due with regular upward reviews as expected, they would have still come out to beat their scrawny chests to boast that they fought for the unity of their one Nigeria and if given the opportunity they will do so again.
