Access Bank is paying for the sins of Diamond Bank.

This is how Jesus paid and died for our sins.

NSE, I hail thee.

In my view, selling one's holdings in the this company won't be a bad idea. But remember, after the reconstruction process is finalised, the share price should be around N7 per unit and with the rights issue/IPO underway, this value may further drop when the suspension is lifted by the NSE. At that point, you can re-enter if you feel things are looking good for the company.
But I really don't see this company performing any magic to remain viable.

They just want to scam Abraj ...After investing 10M u want to dilute there money back to 4M ... First reconstruction followed by right issue...why not go for right issue since u need money ? more reason why d big guyz tink twice when u mention nse.

Abraaj is also a dying company. I want to believe they were left with no other option than to accept to convert the loan to equity in C&I leasing. If not, I really don't see this as a good deal.

...right price now is wait for Access market sentiment to change to bullish. For now it's bear everywhere, but is within a very strong support. Bears can also break the support. Let's wait for confirmation - it's looking really cheap wink

ever since dantata left mrs, this company is finding it hard to stay on its feet, they are the only ones with a lower than 10% margin on the sales of their products.............petroleum marketing is gradually becoming a dying business to Nigerian elites,,,,,otedola is gone, sayyu dantata don run, alhaji Mangal is gradually liquidating his holds in major marketing companies.......The day I will put nails on the coffin of this business is the day Adenuga sells off his stake in conoil, I know that day is very near

Correct but for a much easier grasp, let's simplify it a bit.

A quick math;
Merger valuation of DIAMOND = N3.13
Cash consideration = N1
Therefore Effective allotment price of DIAMOND = N2.13
Current Price of DIAMOND =N1.90
Effective allotment price of ACCESS = V
Price of ACCESS equivalent to the current price of DIAMOND = Y
We need to find V and Y. ...where the value of Y should be our target price for ACCESS in relation to the trending price of DIAMOND.

According to the scheme of merger, 7 equity holding in DIAMOND shall be equivalent to 2 in ACCESS.
...therefore a 3.5(7/2) equity stake in DIAMOND shall equal an equity stake(1 unit) of ACCESS.
The arithmetic view of this is that an approx N7.45 (3.5 X N2.13) value in DIAMOND equates with 1 unit of ACCESS.
...this is the effective allotment price of ACCESS, hence V= N7.55.
Now to find Y, we need to 1st find the deriavable post merger value in DIAMOND. Which would be = current market price - cash consideration = N1.90 - N1 = 90k(u buy now for N1.90 and get back N1 in time)
Therefore a N3.15(3.50 X 0.90) monetary value in DIAMOND shall equate to a unit of ACCESS. ...hence Y = N3.15
The interpretation of this is that N3.15 is what ACCESS should be selling now relative to the current price of DIAMOND !!

To find Y(what price a unit of ACCESS should sell relative to that of DIAMOND) at any point in time, simply use the formula, [3.50 X (current market price of DIAMOND - 1)]
From the formula, u do not need a soothsayer to tell u that the prices of both coys are mutually inclusive and directly proportional to one another.
Sure u can decipher the rest.

Regards.

The best approach for now(short term in view) will be to adopt a swing trader-like strategy with playing ACCESS and an accumulating strategy(albeit in trenches) with DIAMOND ...read the post above again and fellow thru with the formula .
Like I said before; With the merger deal in place, the prices of both coys are mutually inclusive and directly proportional.
With the effective post merger price of ACCESS supposedly estimated at N7.45 and its price relative to that of DIAMOND at N3.15, u can use the difference therein as a focal point to draw ur personal investment strategy and goals in other to look out for some returns.

As a hint: Perhaps it would make some sense to adopt(as a part approach) an accumulating or averaging down strategy(buying into any dip) on DIAMOND as the price of ACCESS drops, and/or maybe a gradual accumulation of ACCESS as the price dips while that of DIAMOND rises. ...or perhaps following thru with a reverse approach should the opposite trend play out with both coys.
That said, don't forget to lock in ur profit between, anytime it pleases u.
But hey, due diligence should still remain ur 1st priority !!

Cheers.
