Just thinking, what exactly are the French doing on ground in the Sahel to contain ISWAP?, I think they should integrate a battalion of their legionnaires into the MNJTF to actively participate in combat. Afterall they were the ones who bombed Tripoli and turned this region into a mess in the first place and their influence is a critical factor in this region. 7 Likes |

Henry240:I don't see them fighting ISWAP. Yeah I know they monitor the situation and pass Intel to the Nigeriens, Chadians and Cameroonians, enough Intel to prevent any serious encroachment into francophone territory. Other than that, I don't see them actively engaging ISWAP. 1 Like |

Authorities at the headquarters of Operation Lafiya Dole, a military counterinsurgency outfit in North-east Nigeria, Thursday, threatened to treat civilians who hide useful information about Boko Haram as terrorists. According to a statement signed by the spokesman of counterinsurgency operation, Onyema Nwachukwu, the military “would not be kind” to those who were aware of clandestine movements of Boko Haram into communities around Maiduguri and fail to report such to the relevant security authorities. Mr Nwachukwu, an army colonel, said the military has credible information that Boko Haram are moving into communities to “indoctrinate, recruit fresh members and asking others to vacate their homes”. “There is credible information and evidence that in a bid to further intensify their psychological war and instil fear on the citizens, some elements of Boko Haram terrorists have infiltrated some villages in the fringes of Maiduguri city,” said Mr Nwachukwu, a deputy director, army public relations. “They (Boko Haram) have clandestinely been going about threatening innocent residents, warning them to vacate their homes. “So far, out of fear, several inhabitants have moved out of their ancestral homes. Consequently, we wish to inform all well meaning citizens, especially within Maiduguri metropolis and its environs to promptly report the presence of suspicious persons or avail the security agencies of information about such persons. “Failure to report will be viewed seriously as it is tantamount to collaboration with the Boko Haram terrorists. Such compromising persons when found will be treated like the terrorists. “Members of the public are enjoined to please cooperate and support ongoing operations to weed out the infiltrating terrorists and their sympathisers.” Yesterday, the military had, in the wake of fresh attacks in communities around Maiduguri, shut down the Maiduguri-Kano highway from Maiduguri up to Potiskum for about seven hours, as troops led by special forces conducted a search in communities along the 235km road where Boko Haram had been carrying out attacks. TROOPS GIVE ISWAP BLOODY NOSE IN NORTHERN BORNO In the determined efforts to wipe out remnants of Boko Haram terrorists that now goes by the appellation of Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP), the gallant troops of the newly formed Nigerian Army Special Forces Command (NASFC), Operation LAFIYA DOLE, have given the terrorists that attacked troops location in Baga a bloody nose. The triumphant troops, particularly the highly revered 707 Special Forces Brigade which is the vanguard of the great exploit, dealt the decisive blow that neutralised several terrorists along that axis despite prior warning to them by some unpatriotic elements. The Special Forces commenced clearance operations on 28th December 2018, where they cleared Zare, Gudumbali, Kukawa and Cross Kauwa without any resistance from suspected terrorists. However, at Cross Kauwa, the unfortunate ISWAP terrorists made a costly mistake of raising their ugly heads. In professional fashion the troops exploited the situation to instantly and decisively neutralise the insurgents and captured some equipment. Though some of the terrorists attempted to infiltrate troops camp at Monguno, the gallant troops lured them and neutralised many of them and recovered some arms and ammunition. The troops who are in high spirit had since linked up with other forces in Baga where they cleared the Naval Base and the surrounding areas. Unfortunately, in the process, the Special Forces lost one officer and a soldier, while 5 other soldiers sustained injuries. The remains of the two fallen heroes and the wounded have since been evacuated. The injured soldiers are in stable condition and receiving medical attention. The troops are now busy consolidating and clearing vestiges of the terrorists within the northern Borno State axis with special emphasis on the Lake Chad region. The Special Forces attained these great strides in close operational synergy with Air Task Force of the Nigerian Air Force who gave Intelligence and close air support by bombarding the ISWAP terrorists. The outstanding and dare devil exploits of the NAF's pilots gave more courage and fire power to the troops. Similarly, the Nigerian Navy Special Forces were not left out of this gallant efforts. SternProphet:That's not a lie bro, harmattan is seriously affecting the number of sorties being flown this is because visibility is just too poor. If you've noticed the modus operandi of the BHT for some weeks now, they've usually attacked our troops in the night and when weather is too poor because they know NAF will be very careful in scrambling any jet or helicopter. Believe you me had it not being unavoidable circumstances which weather is a part of the number of air raid would have being almost tripled, they are always ready for action but unfortunately they can't control nature. |

BabaOwen: This article was already posted here. Also the 3rd picture down of the few posted just up top is old as dirt. It is from like 2013 or around there I believe and has been circulated many times over. What is the point of these sources posting up fake information, pictures in this and other recent reports? Just showing the truth will go a long way. |

bidexiii: The wording for this press release seems so much more patriotic almost like revenge to Boko Haram for their daring attacks! I love it. Did you guys notice the part that mentioned Nigerian army special forces command NASFC, that’s new (can’t wait to see the patches). The presss release also commended NaF pilots that’s wonderful now image How potent NA will be with its own air wings providing 24/7 round the clock close air support to troops engaging Boko boys anywhere in the NE theater 2 Likes |
