Resigning My Position To Pursue My Goal: Advice Needed by Gilaso: 4:17am On Jan 12, 2019
Dear All, recently I wrote a piece https://www.nairaland.com/4951605/female-boss...please-advice-me-please#up about my immediate boss.

However I decided to take the bull by the horn by calling the head office to ask for the approval letter I was expecting for studies since I had applied earlier with my admission letter (masters) and presented a certificate of medical fitness from my recent ill health as requested by the head office.

Surprisingly on calling the head office I got a response that because I recovered recently I will not be granted approval to go for my postgraduate studies even after presenting a certificate of medical fitness as requested with school fees being paid,i tried to explain that i followed due process but the head told me never to talk on the issue again.

Personally I feel I should resign from my present position to a little lower position as to have time to pursue my studies which will eventually lead me to my career dream(lecturing) or should I talk to a higher authority? Please what best advice can I get know, thanks.

Were you pampered by your parents? Nairalanders, someone is toying with his job ooooooo because of masters oooo
You want to resign to a lesser position when you can choose a part-time course. Maybe you have a sponsor or you do not like the job at all.
Probably someone is waiting for your masters to place you somewhere cos the last I recalled, we have more master's graduate and few lecturing jobs.

Just ranting.

Good morning

.......because you recovered recently from what?
An illness?
If so, was that there only reason?
If so, you have to make a personal decision.
All the best.

Bros...from your preceding post and this current one it sounds like you want us to help you point a finger at someone for this setback.

It can be frustrating I know but do you think it's wise go before your boss? A woman for that matter, she even helped to submit documents.

Just try and reach a compromise with your boss, she can again help placate the head office on your behalf. it seems she wields much power there.

Get soft copies of all the documents, send a mail to him. Copy higher authorities and attach the documents. You could bcc his superiors if you're afraid.

The situation is pretty dicey. Ask for God's leading so you don't end up half-way through your masters and stranded. I once quit my job to do certain things and it worked out well for me, i got a better job afterwards. But what rocked my boat might stink yours.

If you have Godfather & extraordinary connection, You can as well quit and concentrate on ur studies, afterall in Nigeria, only those who lack connection & kids of the less privileged will have problems

The company is afraid of increasing your salary when you must have acquired the masters....
.......Nigeria is not a place you play with your job either because even with your masters,..you are not sure of a job immediately as you have to wait for a while....

And saying you have a dream carrier,.. Guess your job is not running on full happiness,...

So grab a low position,..tidy up your masters and pursue your dreams,....this can b possible if only the low position can foot your bills

If your current position is a dead end job then you should sacrifice it to pursue your passion
Re: Resigning My Position To Pursue My Goal: Advice Needed by Jorian1(m): 10:36am On Jan 12, 2019
My dear you know better than we do..

You have not stated how much you job pays you,
How you feed and survive
Are you married
And if you start now without you job can you survive it
Is it your passion.

All these factors matters alot. A young man or woman may decide to quit his for educational oursiut and survive at the mercy if family and friends while a married man is a no no for him.

So to advice you we need to know better.

I'm not a fan of " there is no job out there" i beleive we all have our personal conviction and drives that we should follow..

Thanks
