Lagos BRT 2) Marina BRT Best and First Brt system in Africa

LAGOS BRT SERVICE: 5 Things to Note

BRT Buses in Lagos are 434

The Bus Rapid Transport services operated by Primero Transport currently has 434 buses in its fleet.

250 BRT Buses are Fully Operational

Out of the 434 BRT buses managed by Primero, 250 are fully operational in Lagos at the moment plying the designated routes across the city.

The BRT services 150,000 passengers daily

As the major intracity bus transport service in Nigeria, the BRT services about 150,000 passengers daily in Lagos city

Primero Transport Service has exclusive BRT Corridor

There has been a lot of questions about why Primero Transport is the only BRT service allowed to use the designated routes across the State. This is because Primero pays a portion of its revenue to the Lagos State Government.

BRT Bus Stations & Routes

Major routes of the BRT service include
Onipan, Fadeyi, Ikorodu Garage , Kosofe, Stadium(Surulere), Tafawa Balewa Square (Lagos Island), Ojota, Palmgrove, Barracks (Yaba), Anthony(Ikorodu Road), Maryland (Ikorodu Road), Marina(Marina area), and CMS (Marina), Idi-Iroko, Ketu,

Impacts of BRT Service Systems on Lagos Commuters

BRT mass transit system delivers fast, comfortable and cost-effective service in a densely populated city like Lagos.
Job creation: From drivers to repair technicians and from cleaners to ticketing staff, the BRT system is contributing its own quota towards the reduction of unemployment in Lagos State and Nigeria.

Safety and comfort: BRT is obviously safer to ride than the Danfo buses. It is also safer than some private vehicles and the air-conditioned buses also provide its occupants with comfortable seats.

The working class population particularly those living in areas like Ikorodu, Ketu, Maryland, Ojota etc have convenient routes to their offices which improves productivity, find it easier to get to work, and to travel on it rather than their company buses. It is having a beneficial effect on the quality of life of a large part of the traveling population of Lagos.

This BRT system therefore, is the first of its kind in Nigeria and is the only example of a comprehensive and integrated approach to improving public transport.

why not sign ecowas custom union $ africa free trade if you have good manufacturing base.YOU CANNOT EVEN COMPETE WITH UGANDA WHO HAVE 4500 PLUS MANUFACTURERS.Kenya is on another level. That you can actually attempt to list your companies here show how small base you got to cover.kenya i think has 500k companies registered or some crazy big number like that.

Having lots of buses and mini buses don't tantamount to having BRT. The whole of Kenya doesn't have BRT system but many Nigeria's cities here have BRT system. Comprehend? grin

Exactly, I wanted to tell them that but I think I will just waste my time.

Nigeria and South Africa (the countries with the largest manufacturing sector in SSA) did not rush to sign. South Africa also conducted a thorough consultation before signing, Nigeria IS going to sign also, just not yet.

We have to be very careful not to fall into the hands of those Europeans. I don't know the essence of signing free trade zone agreement when we know it will not benefit us.

Pepper them bro...pepper them...

Lagos has been operating BRT system since 2007 plus ferry terminals and is already planning to phase out danfo buses... If not that Buhari cancelled the Lagos metro rail project when he was military president,Lagos would have had a functioning inter city rail system already.. But hopefully, the light rail project will be ready soon...

The great Nairobi meanwhile is still celebrating painted mutatus and importing second hand brt buses from South Africa grin

Because Kenyans are lazy and uncreative. Imagine Kenya jubilating about being the first country to sign the trade agreement without carefully studying the implications.
No country is as lazy as Kenya in Africa and that explains while foreigners have hijacked the country.
Kenya has handed over her country to foreigners while rejoicing blindly over their stewpidity.
