If he doesn't show up, the FG will officially notify the NJC, and cite lack of confidence in him as the Chief Justice Of Nigeria....while instituting another suit compelling him to step aside, as he cannot be a Judge in his own case...

While the above is going, The pressure would mount for him to step down....

PDP showed their hands too early....So as it is now the ruling party, FG, and the masses no longer trust Onnoghen as the CJN...

Advice: He should quietly step aside before he ruined the remaining grain of honor in him.

What do u no about law

He must come or he maybe declared wanted. Saraki tried it but was docked eventually when his lawyers warned him about the enormity of the President's power especially when in tandem with constitutional provisions or extant laws. I pray he comes........for his sake.

grin grin grin grin The CJN does not need the confidence of the executive to function. To hell with their lack of confidence.BTW The CJN is also part of the FG.That is what you ignorant people failed to note. The CJN cannot be removed without approval from the NJC and 2/3 of the senate. So my friend as you can see it is far easier to remove the SP than to remove the CJN

CJN is not above the law. Most opinions and condemnations being voiced out are based on emotions, sentiments, political affiliation and all you can think of, but not law.
Any allegation that a public officer has committed a breach of or not complied with the provisions of the code shall be made to the code of conduct Bureau. Now what is the AGF proposing to do? Nothing but complying with the law. Then why the hullabaloo?

Actually they do as stated in section 292 of the 1999 constitution
292. (1) A judicial officer shall not be removed
from his office or appointment before his age of
retirement except in the following circumstances
-
(a) in the case of -
(i) Chief Justice of Nigeria, President of the
Court of Appeal, Chief Judge of the Federal High
Court, Chief Judge of the High Court of the
Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Grand Kadi of
the Sharia Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital
Territory, Abuja and President, Customary Court
of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja,
by the President acting on an address supported
by two-thirds majority of the Senate.

u don't understand. The CJN is powerful no doubt and can be like a legal god if he hasn't erred or has nothing to hide. Today they would attack the process which is what is being done with right away. So let us wait and see and if eventually the President uses his power to enforce the law, won't the CJN be humbled? Either way Justice Onnoghen is presently on trial in person or by proxy which is what matters.

Racoon:

Going by the afore precedence, the curious questions for this APC government, CCB and the petitioners are:

-1).How did the petitioner accessed the CJN's asset declaration forms @ the CCB since only the declearer is allowed by law to order the CCB to allow public access to such info contain therein?

Just as Cambridge Syndicate replied that only Buhari have the right to authorized the release of his alleged certificate who conducted the then exam on behalf of WAEC.

-2).Is it no clear & certain that the CCB & petitioner committed a grave criminal breach of trust & thereby violate the right of privacy of the CJN by this malicious act?

-3).Why did the FG/presidency via the morally corrupt AGF bypassed the NJC protocol, does the CCT have any juridiction to trial a judicial officer without the NJC's approval? Why did the FG asked the CJN to vacate office when he have not been tried or found wanting?

Why wait till the eve of a crucial election wherein the president Is a stakeholder before this "prosecutorial misadventure" according to Mr.Femi Falana? Is the govt not obviously up to sometime sinister?

-4).Why did the corrupt & morally depraved APC-govt hasten up this show of shame with supersonic speed while the same regime have annoying footdraggged on the numerous corrupt indictment of many top & low members of it fold up till date?

The most sensational is the bias failure of the EFCC to investigate the Gov.Ganduje dollar bribe scandal? The government have simply took on more than it can contain.

You just showed how low your thinking ability is.

It is simple. You don’t need the CCB form to know that the man has committed an offense.

It is illegal for any public officer to maintain a foreign account while in office.

The CJN has been maintaining the account since 2009. Anyone with the right resources can get information to your account with freedom of information bill.

Once the account has been detected, it is a no brainer that he can’t possibly declare such to the CCB and still continue to maintain it. Even if it’s declared, he cannot continue to maintain it. From the CJNs response that it’s monies from his estacodes shows that the account was still being run. Simple.

So your point that the information came from the CCB is irrelevant and simply sentimental.

That is exactly what the FG wanted! His image will keep deteriorating....The pressure will mount for him to resign...The FG will notify the NJC....He will be relegated and excommunicated....and finally he will throw in the towel..

so going by your own admission, the essence of this whole charade is to disparage the image of the CJN and subsequently force him to resign/retire.

the question to be asked is: Why does the presidency want this outcome, especially four weeks to a general election?

Bros, the CCT doesn't even have jurisdiction in the absence of any recommendation from the NJC.

Danladi is not that stupid, the constitution is clear on how to dispose of CJN's, all this media trial is just bladderdash that has exposed the incapacity on the part of government to follow the rule of law.....
