Earthquake1: I have been talking about Efe for over a year he was bound for the championship but couldn't get past the work permit rules. I also know that Brighton were interested in him at that point. Why after been frozen out by Brendan at Celtic he went Hibernian and became the outstanding CB in the Scottish premier league. I usually say, l rather have a Lion in a lower league and cup than an anonymous mouse in a top league and club. Efe Ambrose has been one or the most consistent defenders that Nigeria has over the past decade. Ajayi is at best a league one player who has been largely anonymous everywhere he played. Omeruo was anonymous in the Championship and in Holland and then became let's say proficient in Turkey. I will not rate Omeruo comprehensively better than Efe. People have brought up the football age issue. This is the hypocrisy we have here we choose when to bring it in. Efe is probably older than 30 IMO, but then how old is Omeruo too. There has been a recent trend of looking at 10 years past. Compare the pictures of Omeruo who was 15 in 2009 and he has not changed much. Have you ever seen a 15 year old remain largely the same for 10 years. Don't need to day more. So forget the age thing and look at continous, current, consistent top performances. 2 Likes |

With the afcon drawing closer, in the issue of our defence I'll rather play our RWB as Ebuehi then LWB as ola aina. What are your thoughts on this considering the fact we have a natural LWB Jamilu Collins? |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Earthquake1: 7:46am On Jan 16, 2019 |
andrew444: I juxtaposed one example with another I'm saying because Efe has left the scene for sometime people now remember him fondly not minding his averageness Maybe Echiejile will leave for sometime, when he comes back people will compare him to Roberto Carlos |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Earthquake1: 7:54am On Jan 16, 2019 |
zayyadidris: I think Jamilu Collins is still our best LB Because he was average against South Africa playing LWB(an unnatural position for him) people have already relegated him to the background |

Earthquake1: Sometimes, I still feel Brian Idowu has been judged unjustly. Which attack has Jamilu faced? Compared to Idowu that faced some of the best attacks in the World. I still dey look Jamilu. Let him go to the AFCON first. 4 Likes |

zayyadidris: A left back is a left defender, he basically stays in the back four of defence A left wing-back is more complex, when the team is defending he is a left back, when the ball is in the midfield he is a left midfielder when the ball is in attack he is a winger He basically moves up and down depending on the position of the ball 2 Likes |

Icon4s: I don't know about defence but what Jamilu has shown is that he offers more than in attack |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 8:12am On Jan 16, 2019 |
zayyadidris: A left Back is a Full Back that plays at the Left Position of the defense. He is typically deployed in a Back 4 formation. He only occasionally joins in the attack from the Left wing. A Left Wing Back is either a Left playing defender or a Left Winger deployed in the Left part of a midfield and is free to join in the left side of the defense and also join in the left side of the attack. This is typically deployed in a back 3 formation. "Wing Back" as the name applies is a Winger that joins the backline or a Backliner that joins in Wing play. |

Earthquake1: My point is that efe is good but his time his past,I don't want him to be Invited unless he got an Epl move or any other top league ,even if he is invited he won't start I am just saying he was a better player than some of our defenders when he was younger 1 Like |

Earthquake1: Idowu is also good going forward. In fact his major weakness is defending/positioning in the defensive position. Besides, henn.. Jamilu has not really come under heavy attacks for you to fully assess his defensive capabilities. |

@Andrew444 about Ozil you want me to say he's not an inconsistent player because he's only been inconsistent four the past 2 seasons ? You forget that people are judged only on one match, Salah has been adjuged world class but he has not even been on fire for 2 seasons A player who has been inconsistent for the past 2 seasons is an inconsistent player |

Earthquake1: At least Ozil don reach 30 ,you can't argue that Ozil is not a world class player despite your claims Salah has not been on fire for 2 seasons ,now it clearly shows that you are watching back of tv 22 Epl games so far and 14 goals and that's not enough for you ? Stop hating on Ozil and salah, they are already both world class players |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Earthquake1: 8:23am On Jan 16, 2019 |
andrew444: Salah, 2 seasons, I hope you know this season has not ended? My point is 'a player is as good as his last game' if Salah can be judged as world class in 1and half seasons, Ozil can be judged as inconsistent in 2 seasons P. S Am not hating anybody |

Icon4s:Andrew has clarified it.Ambrose of 2012-2014 better than present Shehu.I’m one of Shehu’s fans but pre WC and WC exposed Shehu. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by EEGA: 8:34am On Jan 16, 2019 |
andrew444:Shehu had a MOTM performance and an assist against Zambia that qualified us for WC. Aina is good when attacking but average when it comes to defending.I recall his error against Argentina where he was too attack minded exposing Balogun for one of Arg goal and in another friendly where his tackle resulted in a PK against us. Shehu is better defending which stops the team from conceding through the right. |

Earthquake1: Shebi una say na one season wonder now e don dey do am again ,even if salah end at the 14 goals he is at this season is it a crime? You are already scared because you know he will score more than 20 goals then you will hide your self in shame in your cave Salah is a winger and it's a crime for him not to score much goals but it's not a crime for hazard not to score Salah scored more than 30 last season yet you guys hate him ,but the Epl agbalagba eden hazard has never scored 20 goals in an Epl season ,yet he is always good in everyone eyes but you guys keep on looking for excuse to call salah a 1 season wonder now he is a 2 season wonder maybe next season he will be a 3 season wonder ,mtscheew |

andrew444: My view is simple let all of them be tested no favoritism let the best man win. For me Omeruo has been at best average never been outstanding at anything. How he still remains in the SE is beyond me. Or is it a reflection of no competition or scarcity of quality within our available CB 's 1 Like |
