dipoolowoo: From the results of the Treasury Bills auctioned yesterday, it's very obvious that the CBN deliberately refused to allow the rate for the 364-day tenor to be higher than the stop rate of 15% by refusing to sell all the amount they initially put on offer. If CBN had allowed all the about N193 billion on offer to sail through, the rates would have probably be as high as 18% or more. So to prevent that scenario, they sold only about N119.59 billion instead of the initially offered N193 billion. It's very interesting too to know that this time around, most subscribers preferred the shorter terms of 91days and 182days to the longer term of 364days probably because of the coming elections as people are trying to be cautious with their investments. Me thinks that the rate for the 364days is likely to go up in the next 2 weeks. 5 Likes |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by kristien4(m): 9:23am On Jan 17, 2019 |
TONY56:Okay. Because i wanted to lock in for 364days on the 31st January. But i just feel like waiting probably the rates might get higher to like 17 to 18% |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by janga(m): 10:05am On Jan 17, 2019 |
Adiwana: longer tenor 364days |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by unite4real: 10:07am On Jan 17, 2019 |
I will continue to remind all that CBN has learned from the last high interest rate and is better prepared now for speculators. The longer you wait for the 18%, the more you loose money by keeping your funds idle. It will be more painful if while waiting for 18%, rates start to drop after the election. I think if you get a 15% now, pls lock it. When it comes to money, it is a seed and every day counts. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

TONY56: well what the side effect of locking in longer tenor “364days” during this coming election. Even if war occur in Nigeria during this election, the probability of recovering your Naira even if you didn’t lock in Tbills is very low because almost everything will be affected! maybe am wrong? 2 Likes |

How will I know the rate my bank(fbn) bid on for 182 days in the primary auction, since I opt in to receive the profit after maturity? I think fbn bid rate was 12.2℅ for 182days in the primary auction. |
