Agree with elrufai. The northern nigeria has a very big land mass for agric even though they need fertilizer for improvement , it can be achieved by imploring imveators to invest in agriculture. The southern nigeria has crude oil in that they can explore. [/b]Now the struggle will be between yoruba and IBO.

Igbo shouting RESTRUCTURING as if they have anything! Useless noise makers.

As you can see, the North has the highest natural resources, followed by SouthSouth, SouthWest, and the South East has the least. So in theory, the North wins. In practicality, the SouthSouth wins because of its huge oil and gas deposits. Futuristically, the North wins because oil and gas will soon be obsolete.
the problem here is that you falsely assume that natural resources will mean progress.

What natural resources do nations like Singapore, China and Japan have that have catapulted them to the top of the society?

The most important resources for any nation are the human resources, intellectual minds, innovative minds and as long as the North continues to deny the majority of their population of education, the so called natural resources will remain in the ground because the humans don"t know how to use them.

It is producers of goods that are getting ahead in today's world, no be all these ones you dey yarn for here. After all, places like Niger and Chad have landmass and natural resources too, but wetin dem dey use am do?

The north will so much suffer if Nigeria is restructured

Suffer what? If the north opens up its mining and precious metals industry, that alone will equalize the oil and gas industry of the South South. The North is super rich. They just don't know it. The day they wake up, they will be the number one people shouting restructuring or outright secession to form their own country.

There is North East, North West and North Central but you mischievously choose to neglect the six Geo political zones, when you get to the North, but share the South in three...South East, South West and South-south.

I didn't falsely assume natural resources means progress but the FACT is natural resources means progress. Do a little research and you will discover that those countries you listed (Singapore, China, Japan) are a goldmine of natural resources. Why do you think for thousands of years people have been killing themselves over land? Is it not because of the natural resources. Natural resources means wealth. Why do powerful countries keep poking their nose in Africa? Because it's super rich in natural resources. But the African countries that have very little or nothing of significance are abandoned, nobody cares about them. Check any country that is maybe a 1st world country or a country that's doing well that doesn't have natural resources, you will discover they have stability and progress by forming alliances, treaties and unions with their powerful neighbors or other powerful countries with natural resources. Without natural resources, you can't even have technology because it's from the natural resources you get the materials needed to produce technology. So what are you saying? Natural resources = wealth and prosperity! Now how you manage that wealth is up to you. Nigeria never had good management, that's our problem. This country is super rich if it's resources are fully tapped into.

See Mumu, you classify Northerrn Nigeria as a one entity forgetting that ie North Central, West and East is what made the North and Splittted the Southern Nigeria. Merge the Southern resources together and let me see if you can still pronounce North with more resources to the South. All in all, I want each region to have control of her resources.

There is nothing like futuritically. What about the the end product of oil that re use in making road, fridge, paraffin for flying plane? Please dont bring this your foreign media hype over here. Oil will still be uaeful for ever. I ve not seen any electric jet that has started operating. There is no world leader car that doesnt use fuel to power its engine. Even emmanuel macron whose is a strong advocate of renew energy is still riding in a fossil fuel car. Stoo deceiving your sef. Oil has been for over 50years now and there is nothing that can replace it in 60 years to come.

Rubbish! Switzerland, Sweden, Japan have no natural resources but they are among the richest countries in the world, while Nigeria with all the above resources is the poverty capital of the world. South East does not need natural resources to survive, they only technological ingenuity which they are abundantly blessed with despite all the frustrations from the federation.

The only mumu here is you, because all of the south combined don't have as much resources as the North. The reason for splitting the southern regions is because they are the ones presently demanding for restructuring and inhabited by mutually incompatible tribes. So each southern zone can see what they have to sustain their restructuring. But I guess that was to big for you to understand. undecided

See, having natural resources can be a boost but not necessary in this age and time. What natural resources does Japan, South Korea, China, Singapore and so many others have, none! but they are among the most advanced economies in the world today. What is most important in this age is VISION, SOLID EDUCATION and STRATEGY. Also, the country should be restructured in such a way that, each state produces according to it strenght.

Look at Ondo state for example, they have rubber in commercial quantity but to what benefit has it been? With those 3 things I mentioned in place, Ondo state could become the biggest producer/supplier of tires in the whole of Africa within 10 years. Same goes for all other state in the nation.

Lagos as example does not have natural resources but its contributing far more than those with so much natural resources. Aba for example could be transformed to produce clothes, shoes and wares generally for the whole of Africa within just 10 years without even bothering itself with natural resources.

Sweden has natural resources and Sweden is an EU country.
Switzerland has integration treaties and agreements with the EU and in fact the EU is its largest trade partner, so why won't they prosper.
Learn the history of Japan. They became rich because of the United States.

Increased fuel price from 87 to 145 naira per litre
Crashed naira value from 180naira per dollar to 365 naira per dollar
Made Nigeria the capital poverty of the world
Supervised the greatest job loss in the history of global democracy
Led and supported the killing of minority’s middle belt by Fulani herdsmen
Threatened citizens to give up their lands for ranches or get killed by herdsmen
Led the highest looting of the nations treasury among the cabal
Continues to shield criminals like maina, ganduje etc
Nepotism and tribalism has become the order of the day
Divided Nigeria more than any other government
This is the same government that certain people who call themselves humans are supporting for re-election
Obviously Nigerians have not suffered enough. The day Nigerians get to ground zero is the day they will fight for their lives

Lol, do you think the oil will still be available in 60 years time? grin At our rate of production output of about 2 million bpd, unless new large oil deposits are found, there won't be any left over oil in 60 years time grin

Doesn't matter.

The wealthiest world economies today have zero natural resources.
Diamond is one of the most expensive naturally occurring resource in the world. With it's vast diamond deposit, where is Sierra Leone today?
If it wasn't for the whites/Dutch settlers in South Africa that retained a near monopoly of it's diamond deposits, that country would have long gone to the dogs.

With the way the Niger Delta is, I pray may no mineral deposits be found in my community. Black Africa has demonstrated that it isn't capable of self rule, self advancement.

Let all the precious resources of the world be situated in Northern Nigeria, and that region would remain as poor and as backward as ever.
If you do not develop your human capital, then no amount of natural deposits will help you.

What's more, El-Rufai and his northern compatriots keep saying Northern Nigeria will benefit more than other regions if exclusive restructure is done.
The question to be asked it, why has the north been against it? Everyone knows that north is scared of restructure or break-up. The parasite cannot survive without it's host. Southern Nigeria has been the host.
Not that the north cannot advance itself if they are willing. But then compare it with Chad and Niger republic. Sorry to tell you that North will be worse off than those two countries (their rightful compatriots) when they separate from the rest of the country, because their feeding bottle (oil from the south) will be no more. What's more, oil has made folks on the Niger Delta become so horrifyingly lazy.

Why do they (north) fight tooth and nail to keep the country in the shitty mess it is, if restructuring will turn their region to Utopia?
Let them keep kidding themselves. The break-up of the country will definitely happen. It's a matter of time. There's no escaping it.

Why are they (North) afraid of restructuring.
