sufferNsmiling: In that case I hope your country never experiences the same. We dont mind taking the war on Hausas and Fulanis if you just hand us the north. We should be exiting Somalia by 2020 at the current pace Its not likely the attack will affect tourism. Most international observers/tourists/businesspeople have gained confidence in Kenya's ability to safeguard life and property. The affected Hotel thanked "The local authorities...for their swift response." All tourist circuits are operating as if nothing happened. No cancellations reported and no travel advisories issued. We have actually become so stern that the West themselves are afraid of doing anything that will irk us esp issuing the travel bans. Travel advisories usually have the worst impact but they look unlikely. Not even the shilling wavered against the dollar. The 20 share index actually went up by 32.31 points. 2 Likes |

The SAS guy was simply asking for the architectural design of the DusitD2 complex to join in the rescue by which time Kenyan Recce forces had already stormed the building and pursuing the terrorists. The guy never engaged the terrorists. He was involved in taking civilians to safety. Had he gone in where the kenyan security forces were he would have faced friendly fire (from Kenyans) who would have thought he is a terrorist given he was given the greenlight to join the rescue after kenyans had already stormed the building. Kudos to him tho, he rescued 34 Kenyans (allegedly). Kenyan forces rescued over 700!! You can see in all the pictures he is taking civilians to safety throughout the attack, which is what the regular policemen who were not involved in pursuing the terrorists were tasked with. The whole rescue was so well coordinated that a highly trained SAS like him easily joined in. You dont get such a highly trained guy doing this in lame disordered countries. 4 Likes 1 Share

Kazikazi: Thats a sensationalist, amateur, nationalistic article with a lot of spelling mistakes (solider instead of soldier). I dont expect you to notice that. Why do you think BBC and other serious media missed it? Its based on exaggerations. He did none of what is claimed, except getting in the complex and coming out with civilians the same way as the non-combatant Kenyan forces. The whole story is based on this: "During the operation he fired off some rounds – it’s safe bet he hit his target – the SAS don’t miss." (Hearsay) "He is a long serving member of the Regiment, there is no doubt his actions saved lives." rvp20183:WE HAVE A BIG POPULATION!!!!!!!! Arghhh!!!!! There's nothing in immigrating to other countries. And pls just because Nairobi has big water problems don't export it to other cities in the world like it's a normal thing.Honestly Nairobi is the first big city I've seen with this problem. Most of the rich places in Lagos run their own power grids and Nigeria isn't like Kenya where slums are recognised as states.Honestly the 'slums' are just a mixture of new and old buildings. Not like kibera that's just rolling plains of crap! Stop acting like Lagos and Nairobi face the same problems and Nairobi is solving theirs while Lagos just sits down.Did you at least look at a recent Lagos pic before you started dishing out achievements? Tower cranes always pop up in new Lagos pics.Currently they're building a fourth mainland bridge so stop acting like we are just sitting down. |

rvp20183:You and Nairobi are epitome of total failure Let me start, with whole of Lagos,do you think it is easy to manage a state like Lagos.Lagos has been blessed with visionary leaders who are trying hard to meet up with the Lagos city master plan. Every projects are to better the lives of lagosians, imagine the candidate running after Ambode is planning to modernize about 1,000 + schools and build more.Ambode has invested hugely in health care system, thereby making every General hospitals in Lagos have high end latest modern and latest health care facilities and also equipping primary health care systems. The governor has invested billions on the life's of lagosians like : Ready - set - work ,Code Lagos ,Artisan empowerments, Training youths, ensuring more of Adult Education. You can never beat the way Lagos invests in its people,I repeat, never. How do you say developments won't have impact, you sound so dumb most times. Now tell me,the increased construction of roads across the states in rural areas, with street lights and roads signs, would they impact on the government. The construction of more flyovers, more water projects, more healthcare system, investment in Emergency management etc ,are they for you Kenyans or Lagos. Electricity Now when you see pics of Lagos, isn't it ten times more lit than the entire Nairoslum. There are many areas in lagos they enjoy not less than 19 to 20 hrs.Several Estates already have their own IPP by themselves, example is Amen Estate,Ajah. What even makes you think we depend solely on Generators. Now if you think there isn't light in Lagos at all, wait for Lagos 3,000mw project,Nairobi can't dare to generate half of that There is a Mega water project in Lagos as I speak, residents of the mainland were connected more to Lagos last year or so when they were given water metres. Read about the world class Lagos cleaner initiative and see the results on Google. The company handling it uses up to date modern facilities to collect waste, sweep the roads, the recycle bin are electronic. Its just a pity that the misunderstanding between road or city cleaning and inner street cleaning(Lagos waste management Authority - by PSP) brought about confusion, inadequacy which lead to the outburst and flaws of waste management, thereby contributing to the recent dirtiness of Lagos.Don't worry little Indian,Lagos never fails to do its duty Traffic is something that happens on a norm in big cities of the world. Now see what Lagos has done and is still doing There is the Rapid response squad, the Lagos state traffic management Authority and the Lagos Emergency management to help in any case of accident, they have helipads. Now Ambode increase road construction in order to create road connectivity, constructed fly overs, invested in BRT,to commute lagosians faster to their destination, he knew the benefit of constructing separate BRT lanes. Lagos governments intelligence led to the construction of Lagos light rail,Lagos major cities are connected to the rail system, more and more water terminals to attract water transport, constructing of 4th mainland bridge, as another route to Lagos mainland - Island He has invested on Lagos mainland to further reduce the pressure on the island I can't surely finish this If you want to bring any comparism, think twice. Lagos and Nairobi are not in same class. With openess,I have told you the problems in Lagos and how they are being fixed. With sincerity, Nairobi will struggle to gasp a breathe beside Lagos. Nairobi shouldn't even be having traffic congestion if the government has invested in BRTs,opened up roads, developed its entire landmass and not only CBD. With the kind of landmass you have, you shouldn't have much traffic problems. Lagos is struggling to meet up with cities of the middle - east and not your Jo'burg. The EAC creates a relation, a comparism, a look - alike with Dubai. I repeat,Nairobi is a kid to Lagos. Lagos is far advanced than Nairobi, except for having Wildlife, forests, bushes, malls, and the Ever Big worldwide, world class, beautiful and far advanced Slums Pray for Nairobi, oooh I forgot you are a bloody atheist who doesn't believe God exists |

rvp2018:Just 4 terrorist brought the whole Kenya to stand still. You deployed about 100 of police officers in the name of special police squad, something nigerian mobile police would have handled. They tried but I don't see anything special The truth is, there is nothing to celebrate about it.Kenya is an inexperienced tiny country who haven't been battle and war tested. I repeat, just 4 terrorist, what happened to your surveillance street cameras, are they not functional. Meanwhile, what's the latest, are people still afraid of Entering Dusit D2 complex. You're an idiot. Even a lone terrorist like you have seen in US or Canada or France whose intention is to mow as many unarmed civilian is more dangerous than Boko Haram who are kicking your useless army out of their barracks. Those 6 terrorist targeted that office-hotel complex because it hosted 700 plus people - mostly multinationals - and we did a great job rescuing 700 plus people - and terrorist managed to kill only 20. That is HUGE. In fact the suicide bomber took 5 people. The rest btw the 5 of them each shot dead 3 people only despite being armed to teeth with deadly weapons & explosives because our response was SWIFT. The police guarding the Australian embassy and banks responded very quickly and engaged the shooters. Kenyans also having done emergency drill - knew what to do. The poor Alshabbab had no option except ran to hotel and hide there and wait for their fate. Civilians armed with pistols also didn't wait for Special Forces. The response was incredible and whole thing resolved in 20hrs. Pretty world class if you ask any UN-BIAS commenter. And the terrorist managed to kill only two foreigners - one briton and one american. They failed spectacularly. samsobo24: |

Long list of excuses. If any of your governor has tried - it would reflect in better ranking of Lagos. Lagos is continually ranked with citiies like Abuja, Bangui & Niamey as the worst cities to live in. Electricity supply is sporadic, Pipe water a pipe dream, modern sewage systems unheard of, garbage a huge mess in itself and traffic jams horrendus. The whole city apart from two or three islands like Victoria are HUGE SLUMPOLIS. THE REALITY IS HOWEVER GOOD THE INTENTIONS OF YOUR GOVERNORS - YOU CANNOT 20M CITY WITH 3B dollars budget. Lagos is state - Nairobi is a county - therefore National Gov (or Federal ) gov invest a lot in Nairobi. Otherwise reading your prose make for a depressing morning - you mean before last year mainland had no water or water metering. Nairobi everyone even in the slums has water - the problem is mostly water rationing - in some estates - where water disappears for 1 or 2 days a week. We are want to fix it so we can enjoy water 24-7 like we do electricity. Continue campaigning for Ambode - but he aint doing nothing - if he doesn't IMPROVE TAX COLLECTION - and IF ABUJA continues to take all the money. As for Nairobi - you don't get named to DYNAMIC CITIES (No 6 & only in Africa) for nothing - The City is Growing and Becoming the Multinational Capital - beating Joburg. Or The city with great momentum samsobo24: |

theenchanter: Yea, like life expectancy is not measured per capita and that's why we just list it here but manufacturing per capita is in order. Nigeria with 200M people cannot boast of having a manufacturing industry worth $4 billion. In fact with that value they are grossly underperforming. However if a country like Djibout with 950k people or Mauritius with 1.3 million people had that worth of manufacturing, they would definitely rank as the most industrialized country in Africa. If you can't understand that then I don't know what to say about Nigeria's education system. 1 Like |
