Thanks for the reminder. I always do my research. Kenya Airforce is MORE LETHAL than your airforce. The Airforce doesn't depend on the number of service men - but you know the air planes & their pilots. Kenya has more aircrafts and I bet more well trained pilots. We have beaten Alshabaab mostly thanks to our airforces...who just feed the coordinates of alshaabab and in few minutes our airforce are in Somali dropping bombs or shooting them dead. edon21: |

Go deeper. Look at the arsenal. Not some rankings. According to GlobalFirePower - Kenya has 138 aicrafts - and Nigeria 124 aircraft - if we update that with latest acquisition from both sides - you see Kenya moving further ahead. jaycent:

tylann: Geothermal is much better than cole or solar panels. The biggest problem with coal transporting the cole is expensive. Solar panel you need a large area to put the panels then at night what happens, you still need to find another source of energy. |
Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by Nobody: 10:02am On Jan 19, 2019 |
Exactly. Yeah Coal unless it's mined from there - like South Africa - can become expensive. We probably need to continue to focus on geothermal. sufferNsmiling: |

I won't rule that. When this thread started I was giving them the benefit of doubt but 3,000 pages I have come to learn they cannot be helped. They are delusional - and possibly nothing can work there. sufferNsmiling: |

We have a lean fighting machine with very good airforce. Obviously countries like Nigeria with 120,000 army men - and million more in reserves - will rank highly. But can they beat Boko Haram. Of course not. edon21: |

Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by Nobody: 10:28am On Jan 19, 2019 |
We are probably the most highly ranked small force. We have about 25,000 active personnel. Our neighbour Uganda has 45,000, Zim have like 29,000. Tanzania 27,000, Rwanda 33,000. South Sudan 185,000, Ethiopia 140,000, Nigeria 120,000, South Africa 80,000. Perhaps only Ghana with 15,000 has more leaner force than us but we rank highly than them - and have lot more arsenals. We've been dropping in Global Firepower ( I bet they changed the methodology) from high of 6th best Africa army to 14th now - but generally we are one of MOST LEAN, MOST WELL PAID, MOST DISCIPLINED and EFFECTIVE Army. We also boost lot more arsenals than many of those countries with gazillion of personels. As you saw we have more aircrafts than Nigeria airforce. About twice less arsenals in Navy & Army. Our armed forces using better equipment including guns - we the only Africa force to use FN SCAR assault riffle - that cost an arm & leg. We also have one most educated armed force in Africa. I think budget wise - we are probably no 4 in Africa - in the largest military budget - now should be edging towards 1.5-2B dollars annually. edon21: |

edon21:Reason why Nigeria is sliding back massively... Nigerians have a misplaced pride when it comes to social issues but economically the poorest of the poor. Kenya has chosen strategic partners("modern colonialists" as you call them) that have partnered with the government in key areas that economically benefit the citizens. Its not about equipment. It about building a discipline and professional armed forces that is effective. You have what looks like Uganda or South Sudan - ragtag army that were former child soldiers rebels that are poorly educated and disciplined - and poorly paid & equipped. Some of African armies are paid with bags of maize and beans every month. Those in DRC Congo can even go six months before being paid. I hope Nigeria get paid by 15th every month like in Kenya - way before the month lapses - and it not like the Nigeria stories where everyone has salary arrears. Nearly all public servants in Kenya are paid 2 or 1 week before the end of the month. All pensioners paid at end of the month unless there was some hitch. Our police force is corrupt and such a shame - but thank goodness - our army has remain ever professional, apolitical and has not been affected by tribalism or favoritism. Promotion criteria are well established. In-disciplined not condoned. No armed force personel in Kenya can be promoted to major without a degree in military science. They also are motivated by being well paid, having life insurances and having gigs at UN peacekeeping. Nigeria ragtag army that is no better than South Sudan rebels with lots of political and tribal interference cannot defeat BOKO HARAM without professionalism being induced. They can buy as much equipment but all those will destroyed or seized by BokoHaram. In kenya if you don't get promoted in 8yrs - you've to quit the army. So you have to participate in training and try advance your career. There is no room for deadwood. The top generals serve for 4yrs. Rarely 8yrs. After which they have to retire. edon21: 1 Like |

Kenya military budget - our lean 25,000 force definitely has highest budget per capita for personell - about rightly sized with south Africa. Nigeria 120,000 strong army have to share 1.6B dollars - that a pity. The allocations place Kenya ($1.1) fifth in Sub-Saharan Africa behind Sudan on $4.3 billion (Sh430 billion), South Africa $3.6 billion (Sh360 billion), Angola $3 billion (Sh300 billion) and Nigeria at $1.6 billion (Sh160 billion) 1 Like |
