How many goals in LA Liga? I am sure if Rooney was playing the Europa league against the likes of Rapid Vienna he would have helped himself to a few more goals. But let us look at this impact wise;
Barcelona----> 0 goals and 0 assists.
Real Madrid----> 1 assist
Atletico Madrid----> Record not found, not even sure he played but I will have to check again.
Sevilla----> Ehm, grin
Valencia----> Let's just end it here.

This is not to diminish his achievements at all, I mean scoring against Rapid Vienna and the likes in the Europa league is a big achievement on it's own but do not compare that with Rooney at all at all. Just my point sha

You forget that he was easily Villarreal's best player against both Barca and Real Madrid. That is no mean feat. He held his own against Alba and Marcelo.

Even if you look at just stats against La liga sides this season, his stats are still comparable with Rooney's first season.

This does not mean, he will be as good as rooney

First of all, please please please I am not trying to make him look poor not by any stretch of the imagination, I mean Iheanacho couldn't score against Newport County, Success couldn't score against...whatever the name of that team is, I can go on. So scoring a goal, regardless of the team is an achievement so no, I am not saying it is poor but this is strictly in comparison to Rooney's debut season and why he was easily noticed. I hope I have enlightened you now.

Rooney scored against Arsenal twice (second placed team), Newcastle (third placed team) and I Blackburn(6th placed team). He also scored against Leeds and I am sure you know Leeds used to be among the elite then and Aston Villa. So there you go

Very apt observation.

So u now agree that Chukwueze's break-in was because Villarreal had a poor team this season. grin

Thank you for this vital line smiley

Just as uv also agreed that even with a poor team, Chuks already has a better stat than Rooney had, playing for a great team grin grin

We all know how hard it is to garner such stats when ur team is so poor that they do more defending than attacking in a game grin grin

But I told u agreed from the beginning na. Winning the golden ball as been a spring board to stardom for most and u are right it is the reason Bournemouth paid 19 mil for an unproven Solanke.

The thing is that he likely will not be able to start the U20 WC with the team. I personally don't think there will be a problem if both coaches manage his minutes. There are 7 matches in both competitions, if he is missing at least 2 matches in both and eased into the competitions he could end up playing less minutes than 7 matches.
sorry to interrupt but what time is plateau and kwara utd matches tomorrow

Arsenal
Leeds
Newcastle
Aston Villa
Blackburn

Leeds were on the decline, finished 15th.
Aston Villa finished 16th.

See as you left out the league positions of the bottom half teams. Leeds and Aston Villa barely escaped relegation.

Rooney had his share of goals from the top and bottom of the table. He was not prolific in his first season at all.

Let us not forget, he played mainly as a striker or a support striker.

Leicester is a pile of poo in the first 20 min of the match and I am yet to see the value added by the recalled striker from west brom.
Puel has hit the wall drained of ideas to move the team forward.

Did you check whoscored before making this deduction? I am not exactly sure I watched that match so I can't exactly say though but whoscored is implying another stuff altogether

On a good day they could have scored one goal in that first 20minutes it just isn't their day. But they are comfortable in the top half of the rest apart from the top 6, not sure how that is a 'pile of poo'

As far as Nigeria is concerned, if you do not want Chukweze on the bench in afcon which player do you want on the bench. He is the only player that change a game from the bench. Who are those players that are better than him currently?

Watching the game between Roma & Torino, Ola's concentration and shoddiness in the box is awfully annoying. Torino behind 1:0.

Ndidi's faulty pass led to Wolves winning goal
Nacho hardly kicked the ball up to 10 times
Leicester defence was a complete poo today
No creative player in the midfield
Puel under immence pressure to deliver
