Hear Mr. Abubakar: "I regret that I will not be able to go on with this debate due to President Buhari's absence."

In other words, the other debaters already on ground are not worth your salt? That, combined, they're not up to the President in effect?

Is that not what Prof Sagay was saying exactly, and for which some people called for his head?

In any case, who told Mr. Atiku Abubakar that he is worth more than the combination of the other debaters already on the podium for the debate?

Arrogance will always show, no matter the pretense of the arrogant person.

But hey, what do I know?

If truelly you think you are good for the position of the president, you would have participated. No right thinking Nigeria will buy this cheap excuses.

We came here for a Presidential debate, not a candidacy debate, and I, Atiku Abubakar can not challenge or question an administration where the man at the helm of the affairs of the nation is not present to defend himself or his policies. After all you cannot shave a man's head in his absence. I do not believe in attacking a man who is NOT here to defend himself. As a leader and former vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, let me first apologise to all Nigerians, my fellow candidates and the moderator for the the APC Presidential Candidates absence in this debate. His non-appearance is a slight on ALL of us and our democracy.

Secondly, with all due respect to my fellow candidates, Fela Durotoye, Oby Ezekwesili, Kingsley Moghalu and to the moderator Mark Sugar and with apologies to all Nigerians here and at home expecting an interesting debate, I regret that I will not be able to go on with this debate due to President Buhari's absence.

I however challenge President Buhari to choose a date and time for a debate where he will be present and I will be there, hopefully with the other candidates as well.

Thank you and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Atiku Abubakar
Give us a break. Is Buhari your only opponent? Beware a false sense of confidence. 51% young people can overthrow your "position". Why apologise if you did the right thing? Your non appearance is a slight on the populace

Shameless Buharideen.

U left Buhari the dementia man who not just avoided the debate but didn't even bother to send an apology and focused on Atiku who actually came.

You're a mess

Oh this guy is smart, by god!

Without Buhari in the room, Atiku was going to look like the worst person there and he knew it. He needed Buhari to deflect attention from himself and come out looking not quite terrible.

The thruth is that the North is more united than any tribe in Nigeria ....
U must have the support of the North for you to become the President...
How many folks in the North knows Prof, Ekwesili, & Fela...just a waste of time
The North only know 2 people. PMB or Atiku....
SS, SE, SW and part of NC must come together as one ....
That,s almost impossible.
Its an irony that we have no option... its either PMB or Atiku....

It’s funny enough how some of you write things online, if it where an under age person I would say it’s because of immaturity and childish display. Your argument might be correct but it takes wisdom to lay out a point and you will be seen like one who truly as understanding.

To first insult a presidential candidate with that kind of word tells me, you don’t value leadership, and if you are a leader of some place you might need to relegate and learn some more before attempting again.

Secondly, to curse the Atiku supporters is not only to curse outsiders, but also some of your family members, certainly because some of them might due to perspective prefer Atiku. Wisdom bro is profitable to direct.

No matter your hatred, if you will to be on top, honour those who have been there, and you will be lifted up, not by following them, but studying a better course on how to ever become and better.

Atiku just lost my vote. Sorry to say, Nigeria is bigger than Buhari. I expected you to market yourself on that Presidential Debate but you feel too proud. Buhari doesn't lose anything by not attending. You just scored a major own goal.

Debate does not win elections. Obasanjo never debated anybody during his two terms. Hilary Clinton beat Trump hands down during the US debates yet Trump won. Instead of Atiku to go on a policy based campaign, he's allowing Saraki to lead him into political destruction. Today alone, APC had political campaign rallies in three states yet Atiku is going to USA to prove a point that won't win him votes. Unfortunately it is the so called alumajiris and poor northerners that vote not the social media warriors. On election day, your social media followers will be at home collating results as if they are INEC while the so-called alumajiris are voting.
Atiku dubious; Saraki viciously dubious. Do they think that dubiousness is a passport to winning the election?

He will probably finish 7th in the February 2019 election.
