The Absence Of Atiku From The Debate... A Political Master Stroke by royallord1(m): 1:51am On Jan 20, 2019
I have read with complete astonishment the reaction of some persons to the absence of atiku from the debate... Those statements made by the APC supporters aren't too shocking cos they are known for double standards and retárded thought pattern, a characteristic whose transfer from party to party supporters can simply be described as the 8th wonder of the world.. Cos they choose to ignore the glaring and undisputable fact of the absence of their principal, who lacks the mental capability to partake in a debate.. He couldn't even excel in an interview organised for him alone .. Sad...
But what's shocking are the reaction of persons who aren't zombified...
Here are the facts
1. The 2019 election is clearly between buhari and atiku, if u think otherwise... You clearly can look yourself in the mirror and lie to your self..
2. I can bet you non of the other contestant will win their senatorial district.. Talk less of their state
3. That the debate even with the absence of the ruling and major opposition was still about them(75% of the discussion was abt the participating contestant proving their case not against each other but the other absent parties)
4. That the other contestant didn't debate against themselves as expected
5. That the debate which by standard was expected to pit candidates against themselves by way of ideology and promise of better service delivery, didn't go as planned cos the common enemies weren't on ground ...
6. That atiku had no bases participating in such debate when his major and true opponent was absent,. The other contestant would have clearly ganged up against him and that wouldn't have been to his favour
7. That atiku was present at the venue was enough reason to know he was ready.. But not ready for unnecessary debate with person who literary are not political heavy weights and do not pose any threat
8. That atiku is billed to attend other debates and talk shows where the basic agenda is to sell himself and talk abt his plans.. On the 30th he will be on the NTA debate... Same one that buhari managed to fail not too woefully because osibande (as he is called by his principal) was on ground to save him, but he failed non the less..
9. There clearly wasn't a reason to participate in the debate since the agenda was to expose the incapability of the president to hold office.. Not to exchange words with persons who clearly are no threat or have a strong political value right now..

The aim for that debate for atiku was to tear APC/ BUHARI apart and expose their fraud to all.. Since that wasn't gonna be.. There was no reason for him to be there..

OP you are wrong. Atiku's decision was ill-advised, a missed opportunity for him, disrespectful to everyone, a disappointment to his supporters, exposed his arrogance and cost him the election.

His tweets belittled him - without the presence of President Buhari, he was useless.

The winner of the debate was Buhari. It was proved beyond every reasonable doubt that he is the only one that matters in this election. Others are just in it for the side attraction.

The biggest loser is Atiku. Whatever goodwill he got from visiting US as Saraki's aide, was flushed away the moment he left the venue without participating.

You made one truth and a not so true statement...

Truth is buhari is at the centre of it all.. He occupies the office everyone is coming for... As such his absence was a deep blow to the success of the debate... But of course it proved the fact as we have always said that he was incapable of participating in a debate...
Never once has he had a town hall meeting, where discussions are clearly based on intellectual capability, or a presidential media chat.. Never once...
Listen to all he says .. They are the same, excepting he is reading from a paper, he is always repetitive in his statements or clearly clueless on how to answer a question he is asked..

The not so true statement is that atiku participating in that event would have done more harm than good.. He would have been at the centre of it all, when he isn't the incumbent but a fellow contestant...
The other three contestant would have ganged up against him and spill so much lies and half truths that would tarnish the image, which only recently received a major rebranding by way of the USA visit..
He had more to lose than gain by literarily offering himself as sacrifice to persons who won't pull weight in the political scene at the moment...

- First, Buhari's absence was a golden opportunity for Atiku to shine, but he missed it. As a 2nd placed candidate, it was time to ride on his new Eddy Morphy screen role to over take the front runner. He missed it all.

- Funny you criticize Buhari for not being in a debate he will be the center of attacks, but absorbs Atiku for not stepping into the same position. If Atiku wants to step into Buhari's shoes, it includes the daily dose of insults, hatred and attacks by those that oppose him.

For chickening away, Atiku has disqualified himself from consideration.

Op is right. The election is between Buhari and Atiku. The president is in the country but failed to show up for the debate. I don't think Atiku debating with others is good for him, it would have been a gang up. For those saying Atiku lost opportunity, the incumbent didn't show up for 2015 debate and still won the election. APC was waiting for the gang up so as to see what to criticise Atiku on afterwards.
BTW why is no one curious or 'mad' as to why the president never attends debates the way they are curious and 'mad' at Atiku for same offence. The President being a 2time offender.

Atiku with his act has shown that he's a political coward that could not debate with intellectuals. The fear of kingsley, oby and durotoye's competency was the main reason Atiku absconded and not because of Buhari's absence

2011 Jonathan missed Debate and he won the election, 2015 Buhari missed the debate and he won the election.
Now 2019 Buhari wanted to use that logic never knew Atiku is a guy man.

Wisdom is truly profitable to direct.
You travel all the way from US to Nigeria for Presidential Debate only to boycott it because your core opponent was absent?

-Would his story not have elicited passion and commitment if only it ended with him availing himself for the debate?
Even if the others would have outwitted him, he would have won our hearts by his relative sacrifice.
Is it not misplaced target and priority to focus all your campaign on the incumbent and neglect the opportunity to win the hearts of the voters, to dignify us with your presence and plan?
Is it not pride to belittle the other presidential candidates as unworthy of your time?

He could have easily won our hearts, but the thing about Wisdom is, it is the one thing that can magnify your little effort. While the lack of it, nullifies all your herculean efforts.

Congrats to the presidential candidates that presented and defended their candidacy and plans as they displayed their commitment, passion and intellectual capacity to occupy the number one office.

I wish however at this point that they would all abandon their personal ambitions and decide amongst themselves who is the best choice. Thereby uniting to make up a combined stronger opposition with enough momentum to genetate the ample amount of shockwave to form a formidable and worthy adversary against the ruling parties.

Only then will our votes not be divided and sparse but united and count.

May the Best (Wo)Man Win.

He is not my candidate, I would never vote for Atiku.

But I think it was wise of him to have shunned the debate.
Other candidates were just waiting to embarass him and have him for dinner.
Let's be honest Atiku and Buhari are not close to the intellectual levels of Oby, Moghoulu and Fela.

However getting all the way to the event center and not participating because of Buhari's absence was a big goof on his part.
He should have stayed back home and gotten for himself a good excuse to dodge the debate.

But his actions have left a sour taste.

He disrespected his co contestants.
He disrespected the neutral citizens.
He proved that he was coming to make Buhari the sole subject of his debate.
He shifted the criticisms on missing the debate from Buhari to himself.

Atiku just dey fucck up sha.

His first major fucck up was looking east for VP.

Now this!

You guys don't know the political intrigues behind yesterday debate. Atiku's and advisers are steps ahead APC. The organiser of the debate were aware days before that PMB will not come and they have probably piled up some questions to make Atiku look bad.
Atiku aides are aware that if PMB is in the debate, Atiku will surely look like Bill Gates or Elbert Estien.
Since PMB was not around and with the likes of Fela Durotoye, Moghalu and anty, it will be politically wise for Atiku not to take part in the debate

Atiku didn't chicken away as you have opined... He was available to debate head on with the only true principal opponent... Truth is the other candidates put together wont amass a total vote of 800k... So what's the need of giving them attention when they aren't a political threat to him... The true threat is buhari/APC... And vice versa..

The truth is that form of debate its meant to puncture hole in the credibility and prove the other contestant not suitable for the job... Unfortunately if atiku had joined the contest he would have experienced some attacks and he in turn can't attack back cos those guys are politically valueless...
So what's the need....

Atiku didn't lose any shine... That he flew back home for the debate is shine enough... He staying away from the debate was to maintain and keep the shine shinning...

@op is correct.
if Atiku had participated,APC would have been lifting excerpts upon excerpts from the debate and misquoting and misinterpreting whatever the contestants are going to say to attack Atiku.
it is unfortunate that Buhari's supporters know that the man is incapacitated both mentally and physically and instead of them to be worried about the faith of the country ,they are busy attacking Atiku. sad

My dear.. The principal aim of that form of debate was not to pitch policies as much as it is to pitch holes in the capability of your most valued opponent..
