Life has been interesting so far... Finished NYSC April, 2018. Been freelancing as a Software developer right from when I was serving. Learned how to design websites and mobile apps during my I.T in the University. Never regretted it even for once. Lesson 1: Learn a Skill God so great I got a 3- month remote internship after service that paid well while I worked and learnt at the same time. My skills were boosted, and I became better. I have been making great money from the comfort of my room while freelancing and tutoring others too. Nothing really challenged me since I was mostly indoor. Decided to look for something else while I did online business at night. Kept on applying for jobs after the internship, wrote aptitude tests and passed most of them, got called for interviews, passed most of them, but decided to dump some because of one reason or the other. Either their values and mine never aligned, or the roles given aren't challenging, or their pay wasn't good enough. See, never settle for less. Its not pride. We all have our choices to make. There are lots of jobs out there. Its funny how so many people claim there are no jobs especially those in Lagos. I know how many jobs I've applied n got called for interviews. Stop using your phones just to chat! Network with all these big names on twitter or LinkedIn. Got an appointment with one news firm in Abuja September last year through a Twitter DM. Sent my CV, got called for interview, got the job! N70,000 wasn't bad for a start. Later rejected the job for some reasons. What's the lesson here? Get busy with your phones. Network! See, go online and send your CVs to the HR emails of companies you admire. It'll only take a few minutes of your time to do that. I got called for a role by a software company just like that around November last year. How? All I did was casually send my CV to them on one boring day. Don't say there are no jobs please! But if you think there aren't any, why not create one or two? You have an idea, why not sketch a business plan and send out proposals to get the required funds to start it up? Or how long will you keep listening to that voice in your head that sends fear into your body? We all have what we are passionate about, most of us have skills we are not putting to use, while there's another set of people that prefer being indoor and chatting their life away while thier parents still feed them. Please get busy, please. Subscribe to email job alerts, they'll help you in getting firsthand job alerts you can apply to if you're like me who has come to terms with the fact that business is not for everyone. Just know what you can do, and do it well. Learn a digital skill! Now I plan to set up a software company in Nasarawa state... Its in progress already. No actual capital yet, but I'm glad I have an idea of what I want to do. So where am I now? I am not where I want to be, but I'm definitely not where I used to be. Peace! UPDATE (30th March, 2019): So I got called for training with the Nigerian Navy after passing through the rigorous screening and interview. Sincerely, the training was fun even though I never trained with them to the end for reasons best known to me. I'm back home now... Hustling continues. I'm not giving up just yet. Hopefully, my dreams will come true. I'll just forge ahead with the Msc admission I got before the naval training. UPDATE (20th Jan, 2020): I'm done with my MSc course work. Also got a job with an NGO as an Ad-hoc staff. Let me use this one hold body first. UPDATE (27th August, 2021): Wow! It's been a while o. Sorry for taking so long to update this. It's been more than a year already. And that's because I've been trying to settle well into the new job I got with the largest oil and gas company in Africa that pays awesomely well, and I get to do what I love doing... Yes(I'll leave you to guess the company). I got the job last year tho...during the pandemic. Isn't God faithful? And oh... I'm married now. Got married April this year to the love of my life. Awwwn... Life has been better ever since, and I can't stop thanking God for everything. We've also set up businesses, and currently purchasing landed properties. I have a car too! Whew! What God cannot do does not exist o... So, have you gotten the lesson here? Never Give Up. Peace. 21 Likes |

Enugupikin:Lol baba i'm currently in Imo now and i know how dumb and lazy ur people here are. Lol apart from bear palour and bet9ja ur people don't know anything here. Ur girls apart from ashawo work nothing dem sabi. Interm of development and infrastructure you can't compare north and ur side. Ask your people that are in our region to tell you what is happening so stop talking base on ignorance nigga. We run empire in north and we own Nigeria Nigga. Like in my family we infiltrate every Govt agency and dominate politically so once u re born in that family then u re a government property and you will choose anywhere u want to work. Sometimes we help friends and people like you who know nobody in Nigeria and who don't have any connection and hope. #Peace 6 Likes |

I worked my ass off in small tech company, the greatest thing I got from them was their free Internet service, I google out my life back then like I could virtually rank sites. I resigned and 5 months later I was a millionaire ( like divide my net income by 2, I would still be in the million level) . nowadays I just make money for the fun aand thrill of it ( am simple and don't need much to have a comfortable life ) |
