You are very correct. #27000 was only a benchmark to enable poorer state to pay but not below #27000. States like Rivers, Lagos and Akwaibom will pay #30,000.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has rejected the N27,000 new National Minimum Wage adopted by the National Council of State on Tuesday.

Dr Peter Ozo-Eson, the NLC General Secretary, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.

The National Council approved the sum during its meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, presided by President Muhammadu Buharion Tuesday.

The N27,000 approved by the Council of State is N3,000 short of the N30,000 the Tripartite Committee on Review of National Minimum Wage recommended.

The National Council of State also approved the transmission of the National minimum wage bill to the National Assembly.

But, reacting, Ozo-Ezon said the council has no jurisdiction determining another amount after a Tripartite Committee has submitted its report.

“It is abysmal of government to be delaying the submission of an Executive Bill to the National Assembly and by wrongfully adopting N27,000 through the council of states,” he said.

Ozo-Eson, however, said the NLC has called an emergency National Executive Council meeting for Friday to weigh on the deadline given to government within which to submit an executive bill to the National Assembly.

The NLC general scribe added that the Federal Government was only projecting a shutdown of the economy with its latest action.

“This is because workers should not be held responsible for any development after its NEC meeting on Friday,’’ he said.

Rivers state and other oil producing state, together with Lagos state fall in the categories of #30,000.
While non oil producing States fall in #27,000 categories

please my honorable colleagues, how much is level 8/3 expected to go home with now the new minimum wage is 27k? I strongly doubt if Govnor Wike can make it 30k for us going by his treatment to workers. Those who know the calculations can help us out. Thanks.

the president didn't send separate minimum wages of state and fed workers anymore, he only sent a benchmark of 27k to workers at all levels.

L8/3 is 70k check your pay slip ... 70,000/18,000 × 27,000 = 105000k one hundred and five thousand naira and not your #97.5 at all.

Did you calculate with the gross or net payment ? Use the gross to calculate the new minimum wage after all the tax and contributory pention etc the remaining is your net pay OK! Your take home money.
