Almost everyone on social media voiced former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun into resigning. Some even asked that the President remove her to prove that he's truly fighting corruption. When the brilliant woman saw that she truly erred by submitting a fake NYSC Exemption certificate, she did the honourable thing. She tendered her resignation letter and left. She RESIGNED!
By that time, those of you ethnic jingoists didn't see Kemi as a Southerner. You screamed at her, cyber bullied her and even hurled abuses at her. Now it is the turn of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, who admitted himself that he 'forgot' to declare his domiciliary accounts which was loaded with £23,409, €49,971 and $391,401, including 55 houses undeclared, and by so doing, he breached the Code of Conduct as a Public officer and was suppose to have resigned straightaway if he had any modicum of honour, integrity and shame as the custodian of the Nigerian Law, but he didn't. Instead, he was doing everything to stall his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal. All those times, you didn't call for his resignation the same way you did with Kemi, you didn't bully him to resign the way you bullied Kemi, you were instead urging him to stay on, you were drumming support for him and some of you that were deceiving yourselves with your forming neutrality didn't say anything all this while too, you deliberately turned dumb. When it was first revealed a fortnight ago that the Chief Justice of Nigeria didn't declare his domiciliary accounts with dollars starched in it, all you were vituperating was that the President wanted to remove him because he's a southerner. You acted dumb on the offence he committed. Now that the CJN has been suspended, those of you fake neutralists are now crying foul. You're screaming that democracy is in danger. Can y'all see how nonsensically hypocritical you are? Your hypocrisy is legendary. Your hypocrisy stinks. You shouted and bullied Kemi Adeosun into resignation but aiding Onnoghen who can't explain how he got the foreign currencies starched in his domiciliary accounts which he didn't declare plus 55 houses. A whooping 55 houses.
Instead of the CJN to resign honourably and go clear himself, he was busy running from pillar to post buying injunctions to stop the case against him. Just a couple of days ago, another $630,000 and $800,000 was discovered in his separate domiciliary accounts again. Y'all pretended you didn't see the news, abi? Sensing that he could be suspended by the NJC, the CJN quickly suspend their meeting indefinitely. Why? So that he can stay on. You can imagine!
You asked Kemi to resign but Onnoghen who was selling justice for dollars and deliberately didn't declare those dollars in his domiciliary accounts including 55 houses should stay on, and he should be left alone.
Arrant nonsense.

Abeg no vex, why is it that it’s now that the election is by the corner that you and your Apc government discovered that he made a fake asset declaration ?

Osibanjo should have resigned when he was indicted of a 5billion fund diversion. But we don't resign in this part of the world..ok?
My worry in the whole issue is that the CJN is not a minister of Buhari. He is the head of the judiciary, just as Buhari is the head of the executive.
Imagine Saraki waking up one morning and impeaching Buhari without 2/3rd majority from the house...cos that's one of the two ways a CJ can be removed...

Unfortunately for u the CJN was not solely appointed by the President unlike Kemi case, she was hired and can be fired by the president whenever he deems fit however in Onnoghens case here is what the law says

The charge against the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen ought not to have been instituted at the Code of Conduct of Tribunal in view of the case of Nganjiwa v FRN (2017) LPELR 43391 wherein the Court of Appeal held that a judicial officer who has not been investigated by the National Judicial Council and sanctioned for misconduct cannot be arraigned in any criminal court in Nigeria.

In other words the right way to go about it was to petition the NJC who will investigate and sanction him to resign if he is found guilty.

The CCT has no jurisdiction to sanction any judicial officer unless upon recommendations of the NJC

I hope I have made myself clear enough for simpletons like u

You will petition the NJC through who ?
Are you not aware that the CJN is the chairman/president of the NJC?

Are you also not aware that CJN indefinitely postponed a meeting that's supposed to be held by the NJC members because of the allegation against him?

Do you not know that this same CJN gave a ruling about the role of the CCT/CCT to the conduct of judicial officers and the allegation against him falls within?

If someone is not guilty of a crime why would such person want an injunction ?

Someone was bullied by the opposition members to resign her position as the minister over the use of fake NYSC letter of EXEMPTION but the same opposition members are defending the corrupt CJN with hidden 3 million dollars in numerous accounts. Onnoghen has gone for good! And he will explain to all Nigerians how many PDP governors bribed him.
They're taking Buhari for a ride, shouting tyrant, dictator at every opportunity they got. It was so bad that the man was even found it difficult to lift a finger. They (PDP and criminal SANs) were literally dictating to him, what to do, what not to do.

Bro, it is the same constitution Buhari swore an oath to protect. He should not act against the law. Instead of fighting the member of National Assembly he should have use the fatherly wisdom to woo them to his side and do some serious work on the constitution, rather he is playing the integrity game whereas he surrounds himself with corrupt people who he has repeatedly turn blind eyes on.

I hate hypocrisy

Talking about Ganduje, Buhari respect the constitution. Talking about perceived enemies he simply goes against court judgement

The system is corrupt... You can only woo them with money or absolve them from their money laundering crimes.

Oga nawa for you o.... The law is the law.. Whether it favors the FG or not. When Saraki adjourned the senate because he perceived some senators were lobbying to impeach him, nothing happened because it is his senate and he has the power to do so, according to the law. The CJN postponing NJC meeting indefinitly does not in any way give the president the powers it never had.. It is his NJC as the chairman. The law gave him that power.. The finance minister can be sacked, suspended or removed by the president. She is an appointee of the President. The CJN cannot be sacked, suspended or removed by the president, whether he got his order from CCT or not. The CCT is a tribunal under the control of the Executive so it has no powers to dock the CJN until the man is strip off that cloak of CJN by NJC..He is not an appointee of the president. He can only be sacked, suspended or removed by the senate or NJC period. Any other thing done is alien to the constitution. Just imagine Governors removing and replacing Chief judges in their various states as they so desire because they do not feel comfortable with him..That is the precedence the president is setting

PDP ARE SUPPORTER OF CORRUPTION

We don't have an issue with Buhari trying to remove Onnoghen, it is the approach that is quite sickening. Now, imagine that instead of charging the CJN to CCT all of a sudden, Buhari had announced the accusations against the CJN and called on the Senate to have him removed according. Even if the Senate had not convened, he'll take the higher ground and public opinion would have been on his side.

All "neutralists" would have wailed that the CJN is honor bound to resign pending investigation by the Senate. If the Senate does not want to reconvene, Buhari's PR team could have played that as them being in collusion with the "corrupt" CJN.

If after all the outcry, the CJN doesn't step down, then Buhari can decide to use the CCT route and claim that he's acting in the interest of democracy and protection of our institutions. The whole nation would have supported him then, and he would have even swayed public opinion to his side. This is because on the one hand, he represents the rule of law and the fight against institutionalised corruption, while the CJN and his cohort would represent corruption. If the PDP decides to side with the CJN, they would also be tarnished in the image of corruption.

Like I told my friend in the past, Buhari might be doing good, but his Public Relations is very bad. No matter how good a product is, if the marketing is bad, you won't get sales.

Don't you think the reason Ononghe forgot to remember to declare those assets was because he couldn't account for them?
That is also one of the charges against him.
So, what are you saying exactly?

Whatever u think is your imagination and not facts, here are the facts

He forgot to declare some of his assets years ago

What is the penalty?

If he admits he forgot he will be given the opportunity to update it and everyone goes home smiling.

If the law says 5 yes behind bars u don't take them to the electric chair because u don't like their face.

Here the penalty does not even include a suspension, just admit and update,I wonder how in Gods green earth they came up with the suspension plot in the first place.

Why report one side of the story. America wants to do what dey dis in iraq the same thing they in lybia rusia is surporting the president so at the end of the day they will turn venezuela to a battle ground so they can control their oil . what did America and other countries do when saudi arabia killed that jurnalist in the embassy. Oga forget it .

Is anyone in Nigeria closely following what is going on in Venezuela?

And if you are following, what does it tell you?

Ok. Let me give you an inkling of what will likely happen in Nigeria if Buhari and APC rig the 2019 election.

You have read the statements put out by the United States and the United Kingdom earlier on Thursday the 24th of January where both countries specifically warned against the rigging of the election and promised visa sanctions and even international prosecution for those who will be caught or indicted in the rigging of the election. Those who don't know or those who are so blind that they can't see, think that the statements by those countries are empty boasts. Let anyone in INEC, the security agencies and in the federal or state governments even try to rig this election and see. The international observers are coming in huge numbers more than ever before after reading the reports of the shame and sham in Osun State. The word has spread round and they are coming with a large delegation to observe the elections.

It's such a shame that the perceived gains of our electoral advancement in 2011 and debatably in 2015, have been eroded by the selfish and evil machinations of a desperate self-serving cabal.

With the US and the UK releasing warnings to Nigeria about electoral malpractices, it doesn't take much to look at what has been happening in Venezuela in the past three days or so.

In Venezuela, the leader of the opposition party ran for the Presidency with the incumbent President. The election was heavily rigged in the incumbent's favour and the international observers from the European Union and other countries, including the USA, reported the malpractices in that election to their home countries.

And what has happened?

President Trump of America a few hours ago duly recognised the opposition party leader as the President of Venezuela. Trump says the election was rigged and that the incumbent has to leave. What has followed? The European Union, Canada and other countries have also recognised the opposition party leader as the rightful President-in-waiting. Trump and the other countries have directed that all oil proceeds due to Venezuela be kept in a special account and will not be sent to Venezuela till the opposition candidate is rightfully sworn in. Trump has also agreed that the opposition leader can form his cabinet which the international community has agreed to recognise.

This means that the Venezuelan opposition party leader is now a President in the eyes of the world, while the incumbent president in his country is screaming blue murder. The opposition President will be given the status of an international Head of State and will be thus recognised. It's only a matter of time before the incumbent in Venezuela either accepts defeat or is removed by the people's protest when biting economic sanctions hit very soon.

How does this relate to the February election in Nigeria? Only the discerning can see what will happen.

If Buhari and INEC and the security agencies attempt to rig the election and results which do not reflect the will of the voters are declared, Nigeria should prepare themselves for the Venezuelan treatment.

Every Nigerian should be asking for right now is for free and fair elections in Nigeria. Let the people's will prevail.

It won't take one month of sanctions on us before the reality of what the effects of a rigged election on our economy and national psyche hit home.

A word is enough for the wise.

Why would you want a corrupt CJN to stay put? He indicted himself, he should have done the honourable thing. But since he refused, nothing bad in kicking him out. His stay in office after his admission of guilty is a stain on the Judiciary. Every case that would pass his table after his admission of guilty would never be considered fair

You'll also have to leave the office if you can't account for ur assets.

What do you think the CCT was set up for? Just to record public officials asset?

This shouldn't be a PDP or APC thing, but simply the respect and obedience to a constitution, believe me ,every lawyer I've spoken to ,wants the CJN in jail, but their main issue is that a lot of serving members of the ruling APC have pending cases with the EFCC and are walking freely.....while this very case was done and dusted in less than a week.

No one is saying the CJN is not guilty,at least we are all Nigerians ,we know what's up with government officials and kick backs, but let the law ,which we all respect, take it's course.

What everyone is saying is simply if Peter is punished for stealing a meat ,punish also his brother Paul for stealing the cow that produced the meat.
don't mind those APC hypocrites, never in my life have seen people who will deliberately dampen their mind against the truth. I ask some of them what they think if the PDP senators the senate president decides to impeach the president disregarding the 2/3 rule and you will hear them sing another song. they cjn is guilty no doubt but why throw the constitution out of window wish you vow to uphold

Only their club members, blindfolded elites and political gangsters are condemning president buhari. They have refused to be inclined to the source problem and have placed selfish interest above the national interest. As far as i am concerned, Buhari decision is good riddance to bad rubbish that emanated from foremost justice of a nation.

Its painful to you and you are sounding very emotional but thats democracy. There is a way things are done..And in a democratic setting, we are to follow what we call due process. Son, due process. Repeat after me boy, 'due process'..

Ononghe was using his office to prevent the due process of standing trial at CCT.

I don't do emotional things. PDP members and corrupt SANs asked him to stay away from the CCT and he did. Why did he cancel 88th NJC meeting? If he feels that he has been treated unjustly, he knows where to go.

PDP ARE SUPPORTER OF CORRUPTION
you can see this ? I am tired of some people just being hypocrites about this issue , the bottom line is that CJN did something wrong and against the law of the nation ... in a true democracy CJN would have resigned.when CJN suspended the NJC they didn’t shout democracy then ooooo but when the CCT suspend the JCN they started shouting democracy... bunch of fools

The Chief Justice should have honourably resigned knowing fully well he is a crook. We have a corrupt judiciary because the law is now protecting thieves.
Because he refused to resign , the president takes law into his hand. We're in problem that can only be solved by colonial Master. Note, this is just the beginning. The next president will order the removal of his VP, all heads of legislature and sack the CBN governor. Because someone is proofing to be bigger than the law. Buhari , don't have the right to remove ,suspend or sack the CJN simple.

This is your hypocrisy staring right at u in the face, its OK for a court to halt proceedings on the investigation of the ganduje videos because he enjoys immunity and at the same time don't want the CJN to enjoy his constitutional rights and immunity.
When did judiciary start having immunity and wasn't it these same corrupt CJN that frustrate the prosecution of Ganduje, Bark away from here jor
