The Spine of Rohr’s team was already there before his arrival. So putting the current crop of players on him is unrealistic.

If you want me to be convinced by your argument I think you should not try to avoid my questions for clarity sake.

I have asked 3 questions up there.

I really would love to read your opinion on how the U17 and academies solved the problems I stated up there.

Were you expecting to ignore the best we have on ground when he came and build from the scratch? It's true he met thesome good players on ground put he has been able to give the team a new face and blooded in younger players who will be in the team for atleast the next decade. We are not talking about the team's spin but it's future. Mikel, odion and Co just have few years left in the team so what happens when they retire?

nice one bro!

Your welcome bro.

I needed to sound the alarm because of the recent trends here.

1. Relentlessly posting players from backwater leagues. Someone even posted a player from an Egyptian league and argued they are stronger than many good leagues in Europe.

2. Castigating quality additions due to unfounded PRIDE. Many of the people who regularly post players from backwater leagues still went ahead and castigated the welcome back of Victor Moses.

Not in anyway berating players from obscure leagues. But perhaps they should only be good enough for our team C or team D grin

We need to start gunning for Glory 2022! grin And stop faulting the NFF or Rohr for trying to woo these players e.g Tammy. This is business. When we woo a player he has the freedom to reject or accept. But we try as much as possible to make them accept.

If Tammy and any of the German boiz recind there decision of playing for us they will be welcomed with open arms. If nations with world class players can fight to hold onto players of dual nationality I see no reason we should let pride eat deep into our souls whereas we no get pride. Germany fought to hold onto udoukhai and torunarigha, England, Spain, Holland, Brazil, Italy,, France and some African countries re doi g the same I see no reason why we shouldn't strive to follow the same step.

We can't get them all but the few we can grab will make the team stronger and more competitive. I remember when the rb and lb position was a big headache in the super eagles but the infusion of Aina, Ebuehi, Collins and idowu have solved that issue for now. 2022 should be our target so now is the right time start the plan

The bolded is the take home meal of that your quote. While I'm not holding brief for Tammy's reaction, the bolded is something many, many, many here will never understand. Komekn always echoes almost the same thing here: We should always try to look at things with little or no prejudice: DISPASSIONATELY.

One of the positives taken from Middlesbrough's disappointing 1-1 draw with Newport County in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday was the impressive display of John Obi Mikel.

Boro manager Tony Pulis has said that Mikel's 62 minute cameo was an indication of his quality despite his inactivity for club and country for three months.

''John (Obi Mikel) playing 60 minutes, playing the way he did. It's the first time he's had his boots on for a couple of months, Shotts (Ryan Shotton) playing 70 minutes as well, '' Pulis told reports post-match.

"John is a quality player, a great lad, a wonderful person. He'll be good for us but we've got to get him fit.

"I still thought we were in control of the game (after Mikel went off), apart from a few little breaks."

Mikel trained with his new teammates for only two days before his maiden appearance for Middlesbrough.

Manchester United hero Jaap Stam has hailed Nigerian defender Kingsley Ehizibue after he snubbed a move to Italian club Genoa despite passing a medical.

Both Genoa and PEC Zwolle had reached an agreement for the transfer of the right back with a transfer fee of between 2-3 million euros being mooted, only for the 23-year-old to pull the plug on the deal at the last minute.

''I think it is a very brave decision. If you take such a step abroad, your feeling must be good. Then you really want to go to that club,'' Stam told Destentor.

''Anyone can want it, but if you do not like it yourself ... He was not satisfied with that whole process. It says something about him that he does not do it for the money.

''It is very tempting when such a club comes, because that is what I personally experienced as a player. "

Ehizibue returned to the starting line-up of PEC Zwolle in a 2-0 win at Heracles on Saturday, two days after returning to the Netherlands from Italy.

Catch up on the Nigeria-eligible players that were on target for their respective European clubs in league matches on Saturday, January 26.

In the EFL Championship, Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham has now tallied 19 goals in the league alone after netting a brace as Aston Villa defeated Ipswich Town 2-1.

The England U21 star latched onto a beautiful free-kick delivery to open the scoring in the 6th minute and made it 2-0 after converting a spot kick just after the hour mark.

Elsewhere in the second-tier, Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi's first league goal of the season was not enough as Rotherham United were beaten 2-1 at home by table toppers Leeds United.

The defender scored a goal-of-the-season contender with a shot from outside the area that beat goalkeeper Kiko Casilla in the 28th minute.

A division lower, Super Eagles midfielder Hope Akpan restored parity in the 68th minute as Bradford City were held to a 1-1 draw by Burton Albion at Pirelli Stadium.

Still in League One, ex-Aston Villa youth-teamer Nathan Delfouneso was on target in the 47th minute as Blackpool registered an impressive 2-0 road win against Coventry City.

The former England youth international headed in from close range to give the Seasiders a 1-0 lead.

In the Belgian First Division A, there were two goals to report, both scored by former Golden Eaglets, Flying Eagles and Dream Team strikers.

Liverpool loanee Taiwo Awoniyi made it two goals in as many game after putting the ball in the net in the 90th minute as Royal Excel Mouscron claimed a 2-1 win over league leaders Racing Genk at the Luminus Arena (Genk).

Wolfsburg loanee Victor Osimhen took his tally to double figures after finding the net in the 59th minute as Sporting Charleroi and Waasland-Beveren shared the spoils with a 2-2 draw at Stade du Pays de Charleroi.

The first time we approach him , he decline in a rude, egoistic and disrespectful manner and some people want us to approach him again so he can nail us to cross abi? WTF If he finally decide to play for us , that means we will be having another vicmo situation in the next 7/8 years. That boy is rude and I see nothing special about him. We have got young and promising strikers in osimhen and Awoniyi and somebody want us to approach one overfed and over pampered kid. na wa o
Tammy Abraham as of Jan 27 2019 is better than Osimhen and Awoniyi.

Worst part is that despite the talents available, Rohr lacks the tactical insight to come up and develop the best crop of talents in each position.

It pains me that people do not understand that with the present players we have on ground, Rohr should be utterly ashamed of his output. It is appalling that people would look at the crop of players we have and blindly accept being battered by Libya and South Africa just because 'we got the result'. At some point the results will stop coming and that is when you will question the style of play, look at Arsenal, 18(?) games unbeaten at some point but you look at the team and how they defend and you know that the end is in sight and when it came it was catastrophic. This is what we are headed for come this AFCON when they big boys will come to the party. i remember when the exploits of josh maja was debated in this thread, many labeled him a league 1 player and that any decent player will standout in such league but they didnt put to consideration that he is just 20. today he has moved to the french ligue 1 and when he starts shunning out good performances with goals he will become the darling of everyone here.

the biggest problem we have is always seeking for a means for quick fix and not putting the future into consideration. a player's quality must not be judged by the league he plies his trade but the talent he possess. we must not wait until this kids starts performing in top leagues before their talents can be recognized and attract interest, such notion have failed us so many times. if we took the right steps even alli would have been a super eagle today. lookman was in the team Uk assembled team and had his heart set to rep us but our ignorance made us to ignore him even when he was one of the brightest talents in league 2 then. everton snapped him up and he came to the notice of the english press and FA and we lost out. this kids first choice will always be their country of birth but that doesnt deny the fact that they wont jump ships if we came calling and the chances to rep their country of birth are slim.

i am not saying they should come and displace those already in the team but to lure them and give them few minutes in competitive games to tie them down. iwobi who i will say is currently the face of nigerian football today was a 2nd team player in arsenal when he got capped. ekong who is one of the leaders in the team presently was playing for dordrecht a team that was woeful that season in the eredivisie but today he is one of the arrow heads in the team

The same Keshi that was playing Musa when he was playing for the U20 will all of a sudden look the other way. Recency bias is the problem with Nigerians, we do not appreciate people when they are gone, we believe the next guy is the best. Keshi took a young, untested Onazi to the nations cup and he easily made the team of the tournament.

Let me take up your questions.

1) Remember Rohr actually started playing with Musa Mohammed at RB? Who brought in Musa Mohammed? The U17 system, every single team improves with time, so because Ebuehi started blooming when Rohr was the coach means that Rohr takes the glory? By the way who is our first choice RB? SHEHU ABDULLAHI from? Youth teams. You can name Collins as his input but is Collins a fantastic player? The talk about Idowu switching his allegiance do you know when it started? It totally predates Rohr, it was just actualised after he came in, no big deal there.

2) Uzoho------>U17+aspire academy
Alampasu-----> U17
Akpeyu----------> predates Rohr
Ezenwa----------> predates Rohr.
So his exactly did Rohr solve the issues if not by bringing in our former youth players? I believe that you made a mistake with this question as it holds absolutely no ground whatsoever

3) Bazee has actually played how many games for us? Or course every coach will invite new players so I am not sure why we are jumping and clapping. Again, the core of Rohr's team was there before him, do not tell me about players that have barely played two matches under Rohr, those ones are dispensable and every coach invites new dispensivle players frequently. So no big deal there

He was being blunt. We really wanted him but he chose England. Simple as that.
The red carpet treatment was just a figure of speech. I think Akpoguma was even more 'disrespectful' but he doesn't even get half the hate Tammy does.
the English press made Tammy utterance worst and made Nigeria a laughing stock...
it's like a company willing to offer you a job on a platter of gold trying to cajole you from another company's brief...all you could say to the press was such Tammy statement...
how do you expect that company to feel... even when you're just a huge prospect not a finished product yet...

they should come start begging you again so as to get them embarrassed.

you guys seems not to know the precedents this will set for the super eagles....many of the current players will feel they've been belittled..
let's make use of those willing and longing to play for us... rather than go after lads who think they're doing a country of over 200m a favour by playing for us...

Nigeria may not be our dream nation still... Nigeria may not be the best, even the good...but still We love this country...they're many willing to lay down their lives for this country...many of us are here because of our love for Nigeria..and we believe in Nigeria future even though the future look blurred...

so let's use one those lad hungry to play for us...awoniyi and victor are there for grab...also many anglo-Nigerians in the UK will grab the opportunity to play for us if they're approached.

our current crop of players are not world class yet but decent and have the tendency to metamorphose to great players in the future. a team of perennial winners and top performers is not a guarantee that they are better than others. football is a team sport and it takes chemistry, understanding, bond and good technical input to put a solid team. argentina had the likes of messi, aguero, dybala,di maria and co but struggled to win us which i blame on rohr till date.

the positive thing about the new super eagles is that its a team which 80% of the players are young, playing competitive football in decent leagues and have the potentials to be the best in africa in few years to come. during the world cup qualifiers no one gave us a chance but the team qualified from a group that comprised of 3 afcon winners without losing a single match. we lost to south africa in our first match of the afcon qualifying series but bounced back, topped the group and qualified with a game remaining. that is promise!

I am trying to find the stats from that game, that is why I hate African football it is so hard to get the stats but I am certain Libya had more shots that we did, created way better chances than we did and could have easily won that game 5-3, in fact I mentioned it here that with a better strike they would have taken us to the cleaners. Maybe yiy should try to rewatch the match though

After the shambolic display against Libya and SA what we were told is that so long as he is getting results no problems. Arsenal were getting results not long ago but now people have noticed they aren't that good since the results don finish, hence the comparison.

You do not need to have world class players to make a decent team. A bunch of average players in every position is good enough to make a good team. If you need world class players then Japan shouldn't be qualifying for the second round of the world cup. We have average players no doubt, I say that a lot but with better coaching and proper tactics, a decent team can be made out of these average players.

Ughh what are you saying about AFCON??

where i fault keshi is he didnt have the foresight to prepare the team for the future which backfired when we failed to qualify for afcon back to back. what do you expect when 60% of the players he gave a chance in the team were age cheats who have been recycled from one local club to another in the local league but ignored emerging talents who would have remained relevance for more years to come?

for your information rohr brought in the likes of ebuehi, idowu, aina, collins, onyekuru, chukwueze, uzoho, oshimeh, ajayi and is on the look out searching for more talents

Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi, for instance broke in from the U17 before Rohr. Awaziem from local Academy and I think Simon Moses got his exposure from the junior team. Rohr did not play a part in their break through. I gave that as some of the factors, not the overall. The truth is that you are giving Rohr more praises than he deserves.

You can not prove otherwise, so...

The results might still favor Rohr due to his conservative approach. Sometimes it works for longer time than it deserves but the results will never change my stand.

We can play better and get even better results than what we are getting. Unfortunately, many are satisfied with what we are getting. Not me.

If Egypt outplays us the way Libya did and they create that number of chances what will Salah be doing if not padding his stats? The AFCON no far sha

That last South African game left me feeling bitter. It was so disappointing and I felt bad spending time watching such atrocious display.

So simple, Rohr is getting more praise than he deserves for most of the current members of the Super Eagles squad.

Finito.

bros which match are you talking about? pre rohr's era the match is not yet played? a match we won the first stanza 2 nil and the libyan's bounced bank and equalized before ighalo scored the late winner? the same libya that south africa couldn't win home and away but was raped in uyo by rohr and his boys? oga shift abeg.

i am not saying rohr is the best and have failed few times tactically but i commend him so far for the work he has put in since taking up the coaching responsibility of the team. did you ever believe we will qualify from a group that had algeria, cameroon and zambia without losing a single game enroute to the world cup? did you ever believed that after the south african defeat in uyo that the team will bounce back and qualify with a game remaining? common! rohr is not the best and have saw many flaws but lets give him credit for what he has been able to achieve with the team so far

For the record, the NFF brought in Aina and Idowu, IIRC the move to tie down Ebuehi started even before Rohr was invited but I am not sure about that one though.

Keshi invited Musa, he is still playing. Onazi, still active. I can list others but I would have to waste time browsing them right now. From all the players you listed three are U17 special talents so definitely they would have gotten there, some have not even done enough in the GWG to justify their invitation ahead of better players, then do you know how long it took to invite Onyekuru? And how many games has he played? This not a comparison at all as there is absolutely no way you can compare Keshi's achievements to that of Rohr, Keshi trumps any day of the week, the point is like theGoodJoe already said, the U17 has increased drastically our pool of players, Rohr isn't the special guy developing anybody
