Tammy Abraham as of Jan 27 2019 is better than Osimhen and Awoniyi.

Tammy Abraham as of Jan 27 2019 and beyond, is an English international inline for more caps for the 3lions with his new found form grin grin

Absolutely not true.

Curious l had great hopes for Babatunde where is he now

True. Babatunde was preferred ahead of Aluko for the World Cup. A lot of critics felt Aluko should have been called up for the creative role. Many did not expect such performance for Babatunde but the young man delivered.

I am glad you have commented from an unbiased angle. I love that.

That Rohr factor is what they have denied or tried to water down.

According to thegoodjoe,

"Rohr is getting more praise than he deserves"

That sounds like a travesty.

Because we all know our story before Rohr came in.

They have even gone ahead and criticized his style of game.

They said Libya and SA shit on us grin

These to me are arguments I cannot leave to fly without countering.

Rohr so far has one of the best records qualifying us for the WC and AFCON.

Today we can boast of beating top African teams by margins of 3-0 or 4-0. Just a while back many of us would not dream of this.

I am one of the ardent supporters of Rohr's conservative approaches I.e vs SA.

We have seen adventurous coaches I.e Siasia throw away qualifications (2012) because they do not know how to be conservative when necessary.

Rohr's conservative approach has built us into a massive defensive machine. One of our problems in recent past. Rohr's team even work on defending set pieces.

I dare way we are on the right track with Rohr and the team he is building will be a tough but to crack come 2022.

Glory 2022! WC on an African soil, Nigeria! grin

Well, I seem to have found a co-apostle of Rohr's conservatism.

Believe it or not, it is this Rohr's conservative approach which also reflects on his players selection and game management that have earned us easy qualifications. A coach is supposed to know when to come all out and also when to go conservative. Of all our Indegenous coaches the one closest to Rohr in terms of approach was late Amodu Shuaibu. Amodu's game plan was "even if u don't win don't lose". He twice qualified Nigeria for the WC from very pittyful positions.

Rohr may not be much gifted tactically but still he has been able to achieve results mostly through man management and also game management. I have once clamored for the NFF to employ a tactician as they did for Westerhof. And I will still clamor for it again.

As per the 2022WC I don't want to stick out my neck yet as per expectations. I would like to see this team play in this year's AFCON first. And then the WC qualifiers before the 2021 AFCON and so on. I so much pray for the Success of our 2019 U20 and 2020 Olympics teams. They are part of the players that we will be looking up to come 2022.

bros sone is a winger and only started playing in the ss and attacking midfield position in the later stage of his career when coaches discovered he is creative and has an eye for goal

To the best of my knowledge, the cryout for the inclusion of Aluko was not to play the wing role but the creative AM role.

You guys do not really appreciate the pressure these guys are under. Tammy wanted to play for Nigeria but someone at the NFF decided it was a wise idea to put his picture with the NFF chairman on twitter before everything was set.

England went into panic mode and the boy retraced his steps. Do you know the kinds of people that would have called him?

I can understand the initial anger but time has passed. If he has grown a back -bone and is still willing to play for Nigeria. Why not? We can even get him to issue some kind of apology to appease people.

At the end of the day, emotions aside, we want the best players for the team. If Tammy can improve the team, why not?

Sorry buh the Tammy in question is an English international, hence, no debate. No point discussing what would/could have been, it is purely academical

As for me, I am more into building in long term gains than celebrating qualification. There was a time we could beat our chest that we can give the best sides in the game a run for their money. We would not only match up to top teams but try to outplay them in every quarter of the game. A good example is our game against Spain in France 98. When Bora, the Super Eagles coach was asked if he was scared of the Spanish team by Sam Atasia Oburu, his reply was, "Spain should be scared of us (Nigeria)."

We were in the group of death but played with bravery in every game.

Today we celebrate tucking our tails in between our legs to qualify. These are short term gains and we are not in any way building a solid team that will have the capability of matching against some of the top teams of the World and giving them a run for their money. We can only maintain a timid fashion if we continue towing in this path.

So when Onazi, Ogude and Mikel played, Mikel was playing deep lying playmaker. Cool down. Guys were debating the AFCON on long threads on nairaland during that AFCON.
He is actually right. Mikel did play as a DLP in most of the games.
Nosa played as the attacking midfielder then Keshi dropped him because he wasn't helping the mid enough.
We started with a midfield of Mikel - Nosa - Ogude in our first game.

Good. It is lame making some unfeasible phantasmagorical juxtapositions. U guys really have to understand that Tammy is an English International doing well for himself to earn more caps. The last thing on his mind is turning his back on England(his childhood dream). I cant wait to celebrate his first competitive match for the 3lions. He has worked really hard for it and he deserves his place in that Southgate's team, especially, with Vardy gone

Yes I agree we have to build for the long term nobody is saying other-wise.You cited the case of Bora and the 98 team but the simple truth is we are no longer that force that we used to be. We don't have that kind of quality any more. The current team cannot even match the team of the 2000s in terms of quality talkless of that of the 90s.

Rohr was in a group of death enroute qualification for the 2018 WC but we qualfied with a game to spare. Not even a deduction of 3 points caused by some hopeless NFF officials could deny us a place.

For the 2019 AFCON qualifiers Rohr started by losing 2-0 at home. A result that completely made him fall back to his own self of not yielding to calls of inclusion of new players here and there. But look at Rohr qualifying from that group with one game to spare!

We only narrowly missed out in qualifying from a WC group that had a finalist in Croatia and our Perennial beaters Argentina. If that chance that fell to Ighalo had fallen to any other player like Musa or even Iheanacho we will most likely be saying something else today.

See, nobody doesn't like when your team is always on the offensive. But that will be determined by the quality of your side and also the quality of opposition and also u knowing when to come all out and when to go offensive. Rohr needed to come all out when we needed it. You saw how we knew we needed to beat Cameroon at home and we won 4-0 same thing with Libya.
Rohr is going to Face The Seychelles next u cannot expect him to be conservative in a game like that.

So Bros just chill and give Rohr some kudos man.....

I did not say Rohr does not deserve praises but I said he is getting more credit than he deserves. People made it look as if he assembled the side but he did not. Not like Keshi who made bold movements to see off some egos of the team and brought in freshers
He was actually rebuilding.

If Rohr gets praises for managing the situation, I can understand.

However, we are in no way marching towards building another great sides as we had in the past. These things do not just fall into place. It takes time and consistency to build a formidable team.

With our continuous approach of seeking small gains, we are ending up throwing away a formidable future we would have had if we worked towards it.

I do not remember Mikel thriving in AM role under Amodu Shuaibu, if he did, Kudos and a big praise to him.

However, before Keshi, Mikel was restricted to playing as the man shielding the defence. Under Keshi, Mikel did not only orchestrate our play but was the top passer of the tournament.

We decide to drop creative players that will boost our play in the long run for players who offer more defensively that will help us seek a small win.

It takes time, patience and working towards a path to achieve greatness. We should be working towards developing an energetic, intensive and offensive means to give us the ability to blow off even tough oppositions.

Not for us to be patient working on a strategy that will tow us down the wrong course.

If we continue down this path, five years from now, we will still be parking bus hoping to win South Africa or draw to qualify.

U think this is ManCity?

You think coaches like being on the defensive end?

Show me the home game where Rohr went consciously defensive? The away game that we Defended our result were against Cameroon and SA. You think Cameroon and SA will be the ones Defending when the result was not in their favor? They were expected to come all out and attack and then Rohr would have to protect what he had. It is typical for losing teams to always be on the offensive. This is a no brainer.

Please drop all this text book tactics and go for a real coaching certificate.

Show me a coach that doesn't adopt those things in bold.

All these things you are saying are just theories. Come down to reality on ground abeg.

A coach can only make do with the resources he has. U want to be like Spain or Brazil when u don't have their kind if quality. If you like drill your team everyday for 1 year they can only give what they have. Why do you think clubs go buy ready made players? Can u buy players like that for the national teams? You make best use of your own quality or lack of it. That's all.

Simple, There are a lot of quality coaches who would not handle the Super Eagles in such Conservative manner. We have been down this route for so long but still, after many months, we tuck our tails and played the South Africans with so much fear.

I guess from your opinion, the offensive coaches who have built their careers playing offensively lack coaching ideas.

I am saying Rohr lacks creative ideas to build a formidable team that will make us challenge for top honours.

I can bet if Siasia was at the helm of affairs of this team for this long, we would be playing in much braver fashion and delivering better results.

I feel like puking when I watch us play and I am not exaggerating.

I can understand making do with the resources available but in Rohr’s case, he is not. A good example is his fear to utilise the abilities of Aina and Ebuehi. He will resort to using Shehu in tough games because he lacks the ability to set up the team in an offensive manner. His selection is mostly towards a Conservative set up. Even when he is attacking, his foot is on the breaks. We are just sailing by but we are not growing into a formidable side. This is due to us not working towards it.
