Earthquake1: Even if you are talented as a coach, it is difficult for African coaches to secure good jobs. Remember Oliseh's travails in Europe? I will always praise Siasia for his bravery and understanding of the game. I have no shred of doubt with time he can build a Super Eagles that will play with bravery and confidence. |

Icon4s: That is the problem. A lot of people jump in with their negative way of understanding the game, forgetting that in the long run, the Super Eagles have claimed down the ladder of great football. I remember when we were tagged one of the teams in World football that plays good football. Siasia was building us in the right path but people were so eager for small gains and preferred him to have adopted a negative approach to just secure qualification. With a long term goal in place and room for growth of the team, he would coach with bravery, set us up offensively and with time, we would regain our status as one of the footballing powerhouses of the game. |

TheGoodJoe: Why doesn't he pick an NPFL side and prove his worth? Eeh, He is waiting for a SE job, even if Rohr is sacked Emmanuel Amunike, Emenalo, Finidi George are next in line, let him continue to wait |

TheGoodJoe: You call an AFCON qualification small gain? How do you even expect to build a team when u cannot qualify for tournaments? TheGoodJoe what are you saying sef? 3 Likes 1 Share |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 4:09pm On Jan 27, 2019 |
Icon4s: We build by continuously improving our play with conscious steps. The AFCON is but 7 games if the team gets to the finals. If not 3-6 games. I doubt that is enough to build a formidable side. It takes the use of every opportunity of the international breaks to keep building. Training and playing in braver fashions. Setting up in systems that will favor the most offensive players in the team. Playing local and foreign friendly games when the opportunity comes. That is when big gains are made. When you look back and see that you are far better than the past. |

Earthquake1: If football is all about results, Roy Hodgson would have won the Champions League back to back. Heck, Tony Pullis would have gotten the award as the World best coach. |

bobobooge:If Tammy decides to play for us,it is OK for me . But to approach him and start begging him to play for us is just a disrepute. Now tell me what Tammy will add to the SE if called up. For a tournament like AFCON, we have got a decent number of quality so calling up Tammy doesn't change anything. |

Earthquake1: He is referring to the second leg where Odion gave us a win with a wonder goal. Our backs were against the wall before that sublime finish. Remember Libya came from 2 goals down before we won 3-2. We were outplayed though we won by the skin of our teeth. 3 Likes |

Earthquake1: The factors and quality in the Nigerian league would never bring out the best in a coach like Siasia. Let Rohr go and coach in one of these leagues and let us see whether he would last. |

Earthquake1: You are critiquing style of play, making the attacking model deficient. So why is the conservative one not treated with the same hard hand? |

TheGoodJoe:at a time in football èven offensive coaches become conservative. Remember mourinho critizie for parking the bus won Europa league while kloop with gengenpress is yet to win a trophy Man city vs lfc saw kloop and guardiola employing conservative tactics Also Liverpool were 3-0 up against Southampton at HT kloop aware of lack of quality in attack on the beanch introduce conservative tactics I see nothing wrong with it bro |

TheGoodJoe: And AFCON qualfiers are how many games? 6. And out of which maybe only 1 or 2 teams can match ur strength. Is that competitive enough to build a team compared to the AFCON where every game is as competitive as they can get? Who says u cannot play friendlies if you qualify for AFCON? Infact AFCON qualfication even make a team play more friendlies. U cannot not say you want to build a team and u would prefer to stay away from the AFCON because u don't want "short gains". Not for a team of Nigeria's status. The AFCON is the very right place to build that team. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

TheGoodJoe: Attacking or defensive model, all that matters is result Mourinho won Champions league as a defensive coach, Guardiola won Champions league as an attacking coach Both are considered world class coaches because of their results |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 4:19pm On Jan 27, 2019 |
Icon4s: That is my simple point. Use all the qualifiers, World Cup, AFCON as a continuous march into building a formidable squad. Play with bravery continuously. Sometimes you fall on the way but in the long run, you march towards a better team. In the long run better results. But restricting goals to qualify for AFCON by any means possible and celebrating it, even though there is no real growth in our play, in the long run, we will see we are still in the same position. My point is made. |

busky007: Klopp is marching towards greatness. He might not have trophies but he has done an almost impossible job. Keep in mind he has used two different teams to play the Champions league finals. There is a bit of luck that go into this thing. However, the teams play on ground is the evidence of how good a coach is. Apart from Mourinho, how many conservative coaches are celebrated over the likes of Pep Guardiola, Ancelotti, Capello, Cruyff, Sacchi etc. |

IMO if you are conservative as a coach doesn't make you poor what matters most is the results Jose morinho is a defensive minded coach and is one of the most decorated managers on earth Either you are a defensive minded coach or attacking minded coach doesn't matter what matters is your ability to provide results no matter the tactics used Antonio conte won the epl despite not having any epl experience look at the Uganda national team for example, despite their defensive tactics qualified for the afcon without conceding a goal and with a game to spare. despite the attacking mindedness of siasia what has he achieved with the eagles? 3 Likes 2 Shares |
