gentlemate00: @bolded, Lol. we hope soooo. My investments must be secure!!! However, I agree the fears of breakups are rather too alarmist; elites -including 'oga @dtop' - are feeding fat from the entity, they'll do anything thing to maintain the status quo Interestingly, I just went trough GTBs outlook for the year and they are envisaging higher rates. Proposed minimum wage, election spending, borrowing to fund the budget deficit, etc will all put pressure on the naira. Below is an excerpt: We expect that short-term interest rates will rise to reflect the increased tightness in market liquidity, with implications for lending activities in the year and a slight rise in fixed income yields during the year to encourage the return of foreign portfolio investors and capital formation We'll see as how it goes 1 Like |

Quick question. Can I have multiple transactions on a single account? Eg. I wanna buy 91, 182 and 364 day tenor using one single account with sufficient funds? GTB in mind. |

speak2lift: I am mostly concerned about understanding how it works. So this is what I understand from visiting the link someone shared a few pages earlier: For a TB transaction to happen, a customer has to move funds from whatever accounts they may have with whichever banks to an account (a kind of wallet) with the app, the app managers present the customer with the available tenors and their rates and locks in the customer's funds with their choice, and Sterling bank then executes the TB instructions of the app manager. The was I see it is that the customer does not deal directly with the bank. |

janga: I agree with Janga that allowing a bank bid for you, barring their bid failing (a rare occurrence), guarantees you a successful investment at a rate they would only be different from the CBN's stop rate in small amounts of the fractions (of course you would have to pitch your tent with a bank that historically delivers such rates). A risk involved in biding for yourself is that you have only previous stop rates (and maybe some news reports on TB-related matters) to guide you, unless you have something else that will further improve the likelihood that you bid rate will be closer or equal to the next stop rate. In summary, there is the high risk of: - making great gain should your bid rate be higher than your bank's, or - making less gain should your bid rate be less than your bank's, or - gaining nothing and losing time should your bid rate be higher that the CBN's eventual stop rate and having to wait another two weeks |

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Nobody: 8:37pm On Jan 27, 2019 |
speak2lift: Why couldn't they credit my account and left my money for over 3 weeks without interest. I called them and complained and all they told me was my transfer didn't get to them. I went to my bank and they said money arrived destination so they can't do anything from their end, that I should go to Sterling Bank being thy e receiving bank. At Sterling I was told they can't access I-invest account, I should get to them and they are they telling me that my money didn't arrive. Meaning they had money in their account they didn't know the source and yet I was complaining and yet they told me they have not seen my money. It was only when I threatened my bank that they initiated a complain with central bank. 2 days after I got a call from I-invest apologized and promised to pay the interest, I guess that was the directive from central Bank but my money was paid back without interest and I said good bye to them. That was the end of the test period. If you will appreciate more than 3 weeks of your funds missing and the feelings surrounding such issues then you wouldn't ask anybody to go there. 10 Likes |

Hello good people, please, is the Tbill Investment Advice same thing as the Tbill Certificate? I did a 3 month TBill in December and I was only given a white paper named Investment Advice. Are they the same? If not, how do I get the certificate? |

Gavrelino123:it's what technology is doing to us these days. its making us lazy and making everything more dangerous. what would it cost Mr A/Mrs B to walk to the bank get the rates and pen down his/her request. For me, i thinm that i-invest initiative was targeted at the low income earners. I can't imagine someone with 1million naira investing in Tbills via I-invest app. Too much laziness and risk on that persons part 7 Likes |

chukzyfcbb:exactly! i have tried my best to talk people off this. imagine loosing N1milion to some silly Hacker or glitch on the app..then they will know what am talking about. am a computer analyst and instructor. I will not say more on this. those who are too lazy to go to bank and are too lazy to understand how apps work and are too lazy to remember that Chinese hackers can hack US companies from China should go ahead and use the app! i don't even use bank apps talkless of crap app for investing.. VERY EASY HACKER TARGET 3 Likes |

With a good bank and also an equally good account officer, you literally don’t even need to step into the bank I just scan through my instructions after email correspondences 2 Likes |

gentlemate00: And i just applied for a 268 dsy tenor at FBN for 13.8% |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by CompareDBest: 6:14am On Jan 29, 2019 |
chigozienan: Depends on the Tenure you have in mind, and whether you are asking about Primary or Secondary Market. For example, assuming Secondary Market, we know AccessBank offered 13.25%p.a. for 309 days on 23rd Jan. However, for tenures above 300 days a number of other banks had rates 14%p.a. and above. Since the last primary market auction held 16th Jan, the top 5 we saw included rates from GTB (seen on this thread), Wema, UBA, Union and Stanbic. Some examples: Wema 17th Jan - 273 days @ 14.83% (Wema typically offers many tenors) UBA 24th Jan - 252 days @ 14%...350 days @ 14.5% etc. (2 others exist in that range) Union 28th Jan - 255 days @ 14%...353 days @ 14.25% etc. (2 others exist in that range) Stanbic 28th Jan - 263 days @14.1% Always verify with your bank before jumping ship as rates move daily. However, it's good to know your options...with TBills, it is ok for your money to be a fickle friend, all roads lends it to the same FGNigeria. 1 Like |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by CompareDBest: 6:41am On Jan 29, 2019 |
Chuksgeo: You are lucky then, as tenures close to 91 days are widely available in GTB and other banks, and you do not have to lose out on rates as they will be close to or even better than the last 91 days primary stop rate (11%, https://www.cbn.gov.ng/rates/govtsecurities.asp). There are 2 ways, taking GTBank as our example: 1. Primary Market: there are typically 2 auctions a month held every other Wednesday. Go to branch or email your account officer or gtconnect@gtbank.com for help if you cannot make it today, preferably by 1pm (giving allowance for waiting/queuing), as the next auction is on 30th Jan. It is not clear what their minimum is as you might be told N500k, but some customers here argue it can be as low as N100k. This amount and deductions need to be in your account for the ready. Your email should include the duration and amount you are interested in investing. 2. Secondary Market: as before, ensure your account is funded, then go to branch or email your account officer and request available tenures and rates for the day. You should be able to choose and get debited same day. This is typically available 10am to 2pm (1pm to be safe) on working days. PS: In a branch, you might need to ask for Treasury (Bills) or Currency Trading desk/unit if helpdesk think you are speaking another language. If they cant help, or insist Fixed Deposit is the best thing since sliced bread/pure water, contact your account officer or GTConnect https://www.gtbank.com/help-centre/contact-us. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Hi good morning great minds. I have been a low key learner in this group and believe me the knowledge here is amazing. I have decided to put my learnings to work but overtime I haven’t seen anyone investing with zenith bank or talking about their rates. Is it that Zenith doesn’t perform better in Tbills or what? Please knowledgeable ones or anybody investing with Zenith bank should clarify my doubts please. |

FBN will not fail so amaze me any day. Dropped an application yesterday for Wednesday's auction. I was debited almost immediately, while I was still in the bank premises. 2 Likes |
