The fact is that in 2012 he had every chance of still qualifying the team for that AFCON. All this talk about he didn't lose any game is rubbish. In group qualifiers most times a draw is just as bad as a loss. He drew away to Ethiopia and at home to Guinea. Had he won either of these games we would have qualified.

IMO he would have probably lost away to Guinea too.

You have already lost your first match against the other top team in the group, that has already put you in a bad position. What makes you think he wouldn't have defeated Guinea? Mind you we are not even bringing into play the fact that he took the job in October, his first match was against the Ethiopians in March which we won, no friendly was played until the return leg in June which we drew. Is that what you call time to build a team? No matter how good a coach is, you can't bring him into a qualifying campaign and expect a smooth ride, before a prooer qualifying series starts, a normal team should play friendlies first to try out strategies for home and away games. His first match was a hine game which we won 4-0, that was his first time on the job and he did not know how away games are played in Africa, put into consideration the geographical location of Ethiopia and that was his first time there and then we went there and we drew. From then on we knew nothing but excellent wins up till that Guinea game. Again let me repeat what edi287 has already said: Emenike, Osaze and Aiyenugba killed us on the day. I can remember like three good chances one of them he fell down instead of just putting the ball into the back of the net. The tactics were spot on, execution from midfield and defence was perfect but when your strikers have decided not to score what can a coach do? It later turned out that Osaze was an Enyeama loyalist hence the shambolic display, I'd rather not go into that now. Then God save us with Aiyenugba, I would have kept out those two goals we conceded, in this instance there is absolutely no way you can blame Siasia at all.

Super Eagles defender Ola Aina was in brilliant form Sunday evening for his Italian Serie A side Torino who defeated ten man Inter Milan 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

Torino's goal was scored by Armando Izzo in the 35th minute albeit the home side created far more goal scoring chances.

The on loan Chelsea defender, Aina, was deployed in the left wing position and he provided both defensive and attacking impetus to his team's performance.

Aina, playing his 19th league game this season was shown a yellow card in the 76th minute for a foul on Matteo Politano, his second of the season in all competitions following the yellow card he received on January 13 in Torino's 2-0 defeat to visiting Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia.

Interestingly Politano was shown a second yellow card in quick succession ten minutes after Aina brought him down for simulation when challenged by the Nigerian.

The win takes Torino to the 10th position in the Serie A table with 30 points, 10 points behind third placed Inter.

For those making excuse for sia1,he knew all d problems on ground b4 taking job, accepting it means he could cope and pass.however,he failed woefully on d two occasions he was offered d job.Had it been,he qualified us(he would also take d praise for DT).so IMO on eagles job concerning Siasia,he's a poor coach(him, eguavoen, and oliseh) re of d same level when it comes to SE job. cool

They are not poor coaches but worked in terrible conditions. Oliseh's journey in Europe clearly shows this. Poor conditions reduces the impact of people's abilities.

Job opportunities is hard for black coaches, let alone African ones. That does not mean they are poor tactically.

I'll very much love to have Tammy Abraham in our team. But as it stands, Its not going to happen.
Maybe he really had Nigeria in his mind initially but his utterances proved otherwise...Dude wanna play for England ...simple!

He is in hot form right now and another England call up is just inches away.
You think he will throw that away to declare for Nigeria? grin

Take note that England will be playing competitive games until the euro starts in June 2020 (euro qualifiers and nations cup) and all it will take is one minute on the pitch for Tammy to be cap tied to them.. So why are we bothering ourselves?

Biko, let's focus on the players we have now.. They mayn't be currently better than Tammy doesn't mean they won't be better than him in the future...
Simple as that. My own is she shouldn't disparage the guy and say x and y is better than him because he rejected us. I'll support players x and y when they don our jersey - I just won't say they are better than him when it isn't true...simple.

There are a lot of job opportunities in Nigeria, you can't expect to sit on your couch with a poor cv and expect a foreign job

I repeat Job opportunities are hard for black coaches. The conditions in Nigeria are not good enough to propel quality coaches. That is why I have cried out many times of the negative effect of the atrocious pitches we have on our quality coaches.

When there is no better environment, a worker works in poor conditions. That does not mean it is ideal for the coach.

Guardiola himself had to get rid of players like Sagna, Clichy, Kolarov, Zabaleta to get better working tools to boost his plan. Guardiola has complained about poor pitches and how it affects the game.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 11:54pm On Jan 27, 2019
Invite him? No.
If he shows interest, that’s a different matter. We are just wishing because of our current predicament. If we are loaded with forwards better than Tammy there won’t be a conversation. Unfortunately KC is still making headlines here.

ChrisKels:

The post you quoted clearly stated that it was oneirism, so why try to argue? U ended up reiterating my position though with a different phrase "wishful thinking". When a wishful thinking aint feasible, it is nothing but a reverie, a delusion. No serious fellow dwells in fantasies.

About ur first line, the particular post that brought about this argument said otherwise. Here it is;

Nobody was forced to take a job

Scholes appraised the Oldham facilities and found they were below standards and declined the job

Not after taking a job and you are found to be deficient you start blaming everybody

Vardy is aging, Kane is injured, Callum Wilson is injured, Calvert Lewin is misfiring..

Tammy Abraham may be capped sooner than we thought

I think Sia1 was gotten rid off quickly, he should have been considered for the role of an assistant coach or something.

Retaining him at the U-23 level wouldn't have been a bad idea.

I do not want Siasia anywhere near under 23. I want a coach that would pick the best players.

Dennerby will call up one Uchenna Kanu for the Cyprus cup. Sophia was called up to train last year before the France game and o don't think she was that impressive. Women football can be deceptive though.

I think in the game against Germany, a friendly where Ike Shorunmu sustained an injury to his hand was what caused our problems in France 98. Our goalkeeping problems was glaring but the recall of Rufai was catastrophic. I would have still preferred Abiodun Baruwa to Rufai. However, we preferred an aging Rufai.

Baruwa that made a total mess of himself against Yugoslavia. If we had played 98 AFCON qualfiers and 98 AFCON we would have known early enough that Ike had no deputy
