when you mean "complaints from some people," do you mean some people there on Ali Express?
What is the rating of the product?
Focus on products that are 4.7 or 4.8 upwards.

You can also send a private message to the seller and ask some questions.

I mean some people here in nairaland. My issue is that when anything happens you are on your own. Them not having an office in Nigeria is a draw back to many people people who would have petronise them.

Nothing bad usually happens. That's why you need to check ratings, read the comments of other people, and also read the comments of Nigerians (there's usually a comment section for fellow Nigerians that have bought the item.
It's also important to message the seller privately (there's a section for that), and ask him very important questions.

I've bought many things there. Infact I have something I bought since 27th of November that's yet to arrive. I no dey fear because if the item doesn't come, my money will be refunded.

On few occasions, N500, while majority of the time, N200. There was one time I paid N100...it was an earpiece. In some places like Oau campus, it's usually N500 flat (last I checked).
I don't know about customs here.

Some people that bought phones have talked about customs slamming them to pay 4k, 9k, 2,5, etc., while others have been lucky and paid just N500.

I guess you ordered a low price item.

If so, you just have to check the estimated arrival date, and wait.

I have just check my item, it is awaiting shipping and I should expect it between 24th Feb. To 15th March. So I am waiting, it has taken more than expected.
