With your new battery bank you should add a balancer to avoid a repeat of any issues. Be sure to choose a solid battery brand e.g Quanta/FullRiver/Monbat

With 18 hours of Mains supply you should be good to go.

The only outstanding variable I see is your inverter - you need to test that it is going through Bulk - Absorb - Float properly.

Your current GBM battery sounds like typical generic asian origin batteries - still I find it shocking that they failed in just 4 months with very light loading and a regular 18 hours Mains supply to charge them with.

Am even thinking of getting a different inverter. The mercury inverter has no transformer in it. So am guessing it's also part of what caused damages to the batteries.

Like earlier adviced a battery balancer is needed for your setup, also its better to always do the numbers to ascertain what minimum amps your batteries need to be fully charges and confirm that your inverter is supplying enough or get a stand alone charher to supplement.

I have someone who has been using a bluegate inverter with two 200ahrs batteries tho and his experience has been stellar. Mind you he has PV attached to supplement grid charging.

@ bolded - this may not necessarily work out so easily e.g a 1 year old 48v 500Ah battery bank made up of 24units of 2v 500Ah batteries connected in series - if one 2v battery in the bank were to go bad and you simply replace it with another new one, you may soon find more batteries in the bank going out of sync due to different capacities mixed together.

Further, I have yet to find a suitable 2v battery charger that one could attempt to use to rejuvenate a failing 2v battery standalone and sadly a balancer such as the HA02 would mostly work to keep the 2v batteries balanced only during absorb charging phase which may well be the most inefficient time to do this task.

Yea U r right, datz y I said except if all r bad, nw let's go bck to pro's, changing a 2v ba3 from a bank is far beta Dan changing a 12v ba3 from a bank.
U can find special chargers for ur 2v batteries, a client once imported one a very long tym ago, sadly I don't v d link.

Go for Poly..

Ensure you add Solar panel to the set up before getting new batteries, Also do not allow you Batteries beep low voltage before to you shut down.
Low battery beep mean you battery always discharge to 0%..

Solar panels ensure your battery voltage stay high during day time, since you are literally getting power from panels. And your battery will be working mostly few hours in the night when there is no power supply..

It's like having extra batteries on the roof that last longer than your battery

I'm having problems laying hands on manuals for LG inverter ACs (I need to know what the power consumption for a 1.5HP split unit).

What's more, I don't understand the dual-inverter technology rant. They seem like regular split unit ACs with direct DC driven compressors. Or could I be mistaken?

Go for Poly..

Ensure you add Solar panel to the set up before getting new batteries, Also do not allow you Batteries beep low voltage before to you shut down.
Low battery beep mean you battery always discharge to 0%..

Solar panels ensure your battery voltage stay high during day time, since you are literally getting power from panels. And your battery will be working mostly few hours in the night when there is no power supply..

It's like having extra batteries on the roof that last longer than your battery

Mono & poly differentials again ! I have done so many comparative analytical tests but ........ Result always turns up as ===> marginal differences of mono to poly is about 2-3% efficiency which isn't very obvious to me unless you have limited space in large PV installations. The production process of mono is also more expensive . Under temperature test analysis, differences are also slight! Under slight shading or hazy skies , most opt in for monocrystalline specs !

Hypothesis: Monocrystalline lasts longer than poly in general lifespan condition before massive drop in it's efficiency based on my empirical fact(detailed infotech with companies like solarworld"German" crew & Yachi"Chinese" , Lorentz etc production crew !

If you use invert AC ( daikin and LG sell such models in Nigeria) you can easily run ac on normal 3.5 KVA inverter with 10 KWH battery bank. I run two such AC's on my 2 x 200 Ah x 4 battery bank with 2 KWP panels on 5 KVA inverter without ever reaching 50 % DOD .\The AC's have a power saver mode wihc take as low as as 300 watt in the night

You can vary the power consumption by switching to 'Gen Mode' when on backup power and normal or jet mode when on Mains.

Two benefits of the variable DC compressor in the AC is that it will ramp up gradually, say from about 300w up to the 1kw to 1.3kw the 1/1.5hp AC will ultimately draw - this way you don't get that surge load draw that makes the lights dim slightly as the power source (inverter or Gen) bucks under the load.

After a few hours and once the room has cooled, the compressor will start ramping down again - Using Gen mode, I frequently wake up to my bedroom AC drawing only between 300 to 400w and it would have started dropping from the initial 900w after less than 2 hours of operation this vs my older 1hp standard LG AC that draws a constant ~1kw even if I run it 12 hours +

Without invoking Gen mode, you really only get the benefit of slow ramp up and no surge load draw - in Gen mode you get the added benefit of the AC calibrating the power draw to the minimum required to maintain the target cooling levels and it gets better the longer the AC runs.

Yup. 5k difference I believe. LG pricing is funny like that. There is a big price jump between the 1.5hp and 2hp though.

You should not be tempted to go for a larger size than you need though. You would pay the price in battery cycles and unnecessary power consumption.

I have been suspecting that the LG tech that repaired my 1hp inverter ac under wch was damaged by a kazzeem i called to refill gas, may have installed a 1.5hp compressor for me,, b4 the repair the ac was clocking in at abt 9 to 11% load on my 5kva inverter, now it clocks in at 16 to 19% load on gen mode, my watt meter is a 13amp socket, am too lazy to swap out the ac plug to a 13amp, so as to take accurate readings

any body has a wattmeter with 15amp socket for sale?

also folks shud shine their eyes, crooked ac techs abound,, my refrigrant all leaked out from the 3 acs the useless kazeem installed, all within 3 to 5months, making me believe has have done it on purpose since he was fairly certain i would call him and he would make small change from the refilling ops

am a satellite and cctv Installer.
there is this man I know,he can build an inverter from scratch and program it as well. but he told me,hes goin to teach me only the hardware aspect of it,with no programming of it. he charge me 100k for hardware only.
should I learn it or just go for only for solar installation.
