It's a CCTLD (country code top level domain) and does have a geographic or country designation.

It's more specific than a GTLD (generic top level domain) that can target anywhere.

If your market audience is Nigeria, it's advisable you hop on .ng as it's country targeted and boost your SEO presence. Google doesn't need to rank brain before knowing that you're shooting at Nigerians and you're a Nigerian brand.

All CCTLD are expensive than GTLD and just in case you can't afford .ng (which I think is more well pronounced and presentable for brands) you can go and pick .com.ng (that's like 1k or 1.5k yearly)

How much does it cost to get a .com.ng domain nane & hosting... Pls how do I go about in processing it? ' Cos I have to set up my site ASAP

I think the hosting companies we have in Nigeria differs in regards to pricing but nevertheless, the highest you can see it for is N1.500

For the hosting, a year should be btw N3,500 - N4,500 depending on the company.

Some companies also give free .com.ng when you host with them. I think whogohost does that. You can hit them up and start your branding process asap.

The main reason is Economies of scale.
That is , the volume of .COM domains registered worldwide is far higher than the volume of registered .NG domains.
Revenue covers operational expenses, among other things. If few domains are sold, then the price per domain must be higher.
Op, hope this helps?!
Nice day!
Wrong. It is a country code top level domain (CCTLD) which means it is a geographical domain. Unlike the Generic Top Level Domain (GTLD), the CCTLD is better placed to rank in the geographical location its extension uses even far better than the GTLD.

stop talking about what you havr very little knowledge of. That's the godamn reason. Every country has ccTLD even smaller poorer countries yet it's not as outrageously expensive than this. Even countries with popular ccTLDs didn't make it unaffordable for the citizens.

Do you know it takes just $5 to register a drone in the US, do make inquiry how much it costs to do so in thia country

Don't mind him, dumb like his president

Have you forgotten law of demand? The higher the price the lower the quantity. Let them reduce the price and see the sales go up. Anything .uk is free or almost free. Why is .ng expensive?

You don't have to buy the hosting and .com.ng separately. You can get .com.ng domain free when you buy a year hosting.

NG is Nigerian domain....everything in Nigeria is on the high side. The cost of doing business in Naija is so over the top. See fuelling of generators because there's no electricity.

The drone aspect got me .. now I know the reason my drone was on hold with custom in Lagos

Your Drone was held because it is on the prohibited items list. To import a drone, you require an End User certificate and security clearance issued by the Office of the National Security Adviser.

It will be easier for you to squeeze through the eye of a needle but i will enlighten you on the process

Download form NCAA-GAD-0001 from https://www.nrpas.org/content/ebook/pdf/Form_AC-GAD001.pdf

Fill in the form and submit to NCAA. You should get an approval response from them and a copy of the form signed by them.

This is step 1

You log on to euc.nsa.gov.ng to apply for the end-user certificate and security clearance. You will be requested to fill in the details of the drone. if customs do not have a hold of the invoice...i will advise you to under-value to cost of your drone because this will appear on the EUC and will be the figure they will use to compute the duty they'll charge you.

If you are lucky, you will get an approval from ONSA and you will be required to pick up your EUC. You have one shot to get the application right. You miss out required documents or information; you are blacklisted and cannot log in again.

With the EUC, you can get your drone released without it...bye bye drone.

You answer is out of point. He did not ask for advise on cheaper domain extension.

He asked for the reason why .NG extension price is outrageous
