While the terminologies may be similar, I think there is a difference between player insurance and car insurance. How much the insurance company would have paid if Sala was insured would depend on the span agreed upon after negotiation irrespective, except a clause states that the insured does not get injured in the 1st 30 days or does not enter insurance injured. If he was insured for the span of his contract, then that is binding irrespective of what happens. It depends on the span and the negotiation involved between the insurance company and the club.

I think you are missing the point. What I think he's trying to tell you is Insurance especially life insurance does not work the way you think it to be. For you to be covered under a life policy you must have undergone a medical test which the insurance company Will assess along with you current annual earnings (multiples of which will be the cash payout in the event of your death). It is only after this that you can pay premium(cost of insurance) and then be said to be covered under the policy. There are instances where the person might just be added to an existing group policy arranged for member of staff, but even as at that the company( in this case the club) will still need to provide your personal details and financial details to the insurer for them to arrange cover for him.

Obviously none of this is in place yet because just like Ibime rightly said, the paper work may not actually be completed as at the time of the crash.

Wherever risk they insure, they re-insure a proportion of it with reinsurers. When there is a loss, the reinsurers contribute to the payout in the same proportion they re-insure the original risk. Insurance business is a big business in the western world and some insurance companies are so big they own banks and other businesses
