rvp2018: Nairobi has all that - and more. Nairobi power management is at 99%. Kenya has database of all it's citizen. Nearly all gov services are online. IBM research just helped Nairobi make huge improvement in "ease of doing" business to around top 60. Nairobi has telemedicine and so much more latest innovation linked to mobile money and commerce. Nairobi has the ubers and smart taxis - smart motorbike - and now it's becoming smart dafnos now.
Nairobi have smart cameras - Huwaei won SMART CITY award for installing 150M dollars worth of smart cameras in Nairobi - these have face recognition, number plate recognition and all the shebans.
I can go on and on - but people who know their stuff - already ranks Nairobi and Capetown - African smartest cities.

Hahahahahahhahahahhahahahahahahhahshahhahahahaha
I can't stop laughing.... hahah see your poor definition of smart city hahahahhahahaha. so this is what you have in mind when we are talking about smart city.
Answer this: 1. Does Nairobi have a detailed database of it citizen? 2. Are there tele-medicine and remote healthcare for majority of Nairobi citizens? 4. Does Nairobi or capetown have smart urban lightning 5. How intelligent is Nairobi transport system and traffic management, smart buses. cars etc 6. Does citizens now rely on technology for driving, touring, payment of tax. 7. Does capetown and Nairobi have sound management systems. 8. Can you rate Nairobi and capetown power management 80%
This is just a few of the list as if you notice Nairobi and Cape town has little bit of everything but they are at the infant stage. Stop trying to be a fanatic. Nairobi and Cape town are at the most progressive stages of what a smart city is 1 Like |

Right now I think in most of Nairobi - power companies can do "live" maintenance and brown outs are now disappearing - because we have built redundancy lines.
I can go on and on - but people who know their stuff - already ranks Nairobi and Capetown - African smartest cities.
I have never argued against this fact. All I said is that this two city are yet to be smart cities. They aren't yet. |

For your everything is discrete. It's either you're are smart city or not. What kind of nonsense is that. Every city is smart or dumb - it's the degree - Nairobi is probably 30% smart - where Lagos is 3% smart. Some cities like San Francisco with self-driven cars are maybe 95%. In Africa - Capetown and Nairobi - are on the pole position - stanliwise: I have never argued against this fact. All I said is that this two city are yet to be smart cities. They aren't yet. |

INTRODUCTION
Nature has always bestowed humanity worth unlimited opportunities to shape his surroundings and the world generally. From the oceans to the mountains and from the canyons to the reeds, mankind has faced and surmounted nature's challenging obstacles. All over the world, picturesque cities have been built on mountains and railway tunnels have been constructed underwater to link destinations.where some mere mortals see obstacles, men of courage and vision see opportunities and flexibility.Such is the story of Eko Atlantic City.
Quick recap: Since 2013, there have been an aggressive land reclamation project along the Bar Beach coastline called Eko Atlantic City which is now at the final stage. At completion,Eko Atlantic City will be sitting on about 10kms(4 square miles) of land. This is an area located just adjacent to Victoria Island by the Lagos Bar Beach. It will be comparable to the Manhattan District of New York as the developers disclosed. The area will be approximately the size of the district which boasts some of the world's tallest sky-scrappers.Eko Atlantic City will even be larger than a handful of beautiful Island countries.
The fairy tale have so far been turning into reality:
Furthermore, Eko Atlantic City will be home to 250,000 people of differnt nationalties and ethnicity. Developers said it will be world-class housing projects and residential towers. It is also expected that 150,000 will commute to the city daily for business. This is approximately half the population of a couple of states in the USA and more than the population of several island counties in the world. To put into perspective,it will be greater than the population of countries like Cape Verse,Bahamas,Brunei,Iceland,Malta,Belize.
The contract for the construction of Eko Atlantic City was awarded to South EnergyX,a subsidiary of the Chagoury Group in 2006.This was after Hi-Tech Construction Ltd,also a subsidiary of Chagoury Group, completed the km Shoreline protection of the Lagos Bar-Beach.
It will connect to an independent source of electricity and not the national power grid.stable power supply is a magnet for investment opportunities.
In a couple of years from now,Africa's Dubai will be sitting on the Atlantic Ocean.such will be a triumph for Marin Engineering. It happened in Dubai, and in Singapore, this time its happening in Nigeria.
Eko Atlantic will be a city to live and work in. With its tree-lined boulevards, waterways, manicured gardens, elegant plazas, three marinas and a stunning ocean front promenade, the new city will be a complete contrast to the congested, traffic-filled streets of Lagos.

I know. Ghanians are always better than Nigeria by mere mouth.
I begin to give up on you and your brother when you said Ghana has a smart city. I'm not amazed,Ghana isn't worth the argument but its just for the sake of it.
A smart city uses modern technology to solve every of its problem Traffic Transportation A smart city attracts business, technology, tourism A smart city respects the Environment by laying down a reasonable % of its lavnd mass for Greeneries
A smart uses modern security infrastructure to handle security problems A smart city has a central sewage system It uses clean and renewable energy for Powering up its city It has a single central water system It has world class modern transport systems like Tram, light rail, cable car, efficient bus systems,Water transport systems.
it uses fibre optic cable to convey information
Note: A smart city majors on technology throughout its city
Etc I have schooled you for free since you compare your Ghanian village with EAC.
EAC already has a functioning water system, completed its energy estate and other basic infrastructures etc
I wont be surprised if you still rant that Accra is better than PH,its what you're known for
Read and don't be left in the stone age

You know what makes a city smart - stuff like paying for everything with your phone like in Nairobi - I mean nearly everything - by nearly everyone. That earns Nairobi huge smarts points. stanliwise: You just love argument. Compare cape town to cities like kigali and you will know what I am talking about.
