rvp2018:naa the banks cant pull strings in Ghana they will be cut down to size. the government stopped the central bank from creating a retail payment system befitting of Ghana. Claiming the value of the contract was too high for the kind of contract and it broke the laws of Ghana when it comes to the value of contract that can be sole sourced. some procurement nonsense Now they have implemented a system that does not fully cover the entire payment ecosystem |

68816419:This is not a sound analysis. check what is the debt to GDP ratio of USA. By the standards other developing and emerging economies are judged, the US economy should be under IMF conditionalities because their debt to GDP ratio is way way way way way over the threshold of debt sustainability and it is not reducing, it is rising and rising. Indeed it is the largest on the planet, not even close. So if Ghana can sustain the borrowing base by its capitals expenditure, i don't see it as anything to be worry about. 1 Like |

rvp2018: how can you pay your debts when most of the so called projects are running at lost, when you hardly have Good foreign reserves to support various operations , don't you know that you need FX, to help Forex serves is in meeting the international finance obligations including sovereign and commercial debts, financing of imports. It helps in boosting the confidence of the market in the ability of a country to meet its external obligations. how do you intend to repay your debts knowing fully well that your projects are seriously running at lost, and your only port is at the risk of been taken over by china?

We are not in a debt crisis! So you have high foreign reserves but a way low tax to GDP ratio? Why shouldn't we not talk about that? 68816419: 1 Like |

Pray harder. We have more forex than we need. Our Kshs is strengthening against USD. You see we need about 4 month cover - we have been doing about an extra 2 months - more than 8B of forex. Honestly give up. Kenya macro-economics are solid. We don't have any debt or whatever crisis. Our economy is probably going to grow at 7% this year. There are no exogenous risk. Now Nigeria - worry about OIL - Oil prices in kenya have dropped by 15-20% - and I mean that mean you are getting hit Prepare for another recession. Trump is not in any mood for anything but low oil prices. 68816419: 4 Likes |

Kenya economy is well diversified. Time will tells us if Oil will crash your economy or not. Keep praying. Buhari is busy campaigning so he isn't talking - but things are elephant for oil producing countries. Here in Kenya - we are enjoying 20% tax holiday from Oil and you're getting a 20% kick in your gonads. After re-electing Buhari - he will tell you it's back to recession. 68816419: 1 Like 1 Share |

Fuckeduppedness you Nigerians are funny sha why don’t you fellas focus on fixing your country, instead of fighting so hard to prove yourself on nairaland? Nobody needs to tell me what is really, really happening in Nigeria. So what is the point in posting tons of stuff that prove nothing? For example you Nigerians talk about Lagos having some interesting GDP figures. But when you look at the 2019 budget for Lagos, it’s about $2 billion. Can anyone tell me one country or geographic entity that has the budget often quoted for Lagos and yet operates on an annual budget of $2 billion it doesn’t make sense I prefer using human development indices to determine how well a particular country is faring. All the talk about fine cities, universities, etc etc etc are trash pure crap if your economy is truly doing well it should reflect in the lives of the people. What is the life expectancy, how many can afford food, how many have access to electricity, good roads, personal security, good education etc etc etc Those are the main issue we should be talking about everything else is nonsense! 4 Likes |

68816419:i see you as one of the most briilant dude on this thread so don't dissapoint me. global currency been dominated in dollars does not mean usa will go there and print out dollars to pay up the debt. The result is hyperinflation,. with over 16 trillion new US dollars in international hands and over a trillion of that in China alone-, it will simply cause -a dramatic increase in national income everywhere except the US.. That income spike would cause aggregate demand for goods purchasable in USD to soar. Merchants would naturally respond by increasing the price of their goods, restabilizing the real value of the dollar. The consequences of such a series of events would be catastrophic. And as to servicing the debt, Ghana presently has a good economic mechanism that can handle that. the forieng reserve has even swell over time. 1 Like 1 Share |

According to their cooked GDP - Lagos has GDP equal to Morroco & larger than Angola - both have annual budget around 60B dollars. Rwanda with GDP of around 10B - has budget of 4B. Lagos with overcooked GDP can barely do 3B. Cooking require some intelligence. BlcoChina2018: 2 Likes |

Tax to GDP ratio comparison between economies! An attempt for Nigerian to raise the tax to gdp ratio will land them into problems. They simply cannot tax more because that GDP isn't the actual gdp! They can no way raise taxes more than 15% or even 12% of their GDP! That would be too much for them as that GDP doesn't reflect the reality on the ground! Kenya should be aiming for 19/20 % and not the usual 18% 2 Likes

68816419:hehehe has Ghana told you it cant pay it debt ? creditors would have run away from Ghana bonds if they realised that yet each bond is over subscribe you dont know international finance leave that arguement to those with knowledge on the matter. which of the projects are running at a loss? care to list? Ghana GAS has finished repaying it loans Ghana's port was not even financed by China for China to take it over |

68816419:of course most of Ghana and Kenya debt can be serviced with ease because the debt was spent on viable projects the US cannot repay it 22 trillion bebt the money was spent on the millitary even attempting to pay that debt will collapse it economy. global trade is dominated by the dollar but that wont last for long. |
