A horror movie set in trench world is not a bad idea as long as it's decent.
But it should not be a top priority now.
Flash, GL corps and Black Adam should be on priority list.
If WB want to bring horror into DCEU, then they should try and get Justice League Dark out of the development hell it's been languishing for years.

Honestly, i expect this Shazam movie to make money and possibly be a hit.

It has everything needed, it is fun, comedy, family friendly, action, and Zachary Levi has lots of followers from his Chuck TV series who are eager to watch this movie because they love him.

Furthermore, he has positive support from reporters and the press. So I expect positive reviews from critics.

Finally, it will be loved by tweens and teenagers as it gives them an opportunity to imaging themselves as superheroes even as children.

Just watch as synder fans will look for ways to give synder credit when this hits.
