Re: MASS RETIREMENT HITS NIGERIAN ARMY, OVER 200 SENIOR OFFICERS AFFECTED,
EX-BOYS ARE IN TROUBLE

The attention of the Nigerian Army is drawn to publication trending in the social media and some sections of the main stream media about the retirement of some officers from the service of the Nigerian Army. While it is true that the Nigerian Army recently advised some categories of Officers to apply for voluntary retirement from service, the number being flaunted is far from the truth. Equally not correct is the assertion that those affected were mostly Officers who attended the Nigerian Military School, Zaria.

While this is strictly a service matter, it is essential to address this deliberate misinformation being peddled to erroreneous information. It is important to note that pursuant to Rule 020810 Paragraph 1 of the Public Service Rules (PSR) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2008, the compulsory retirement age for all Grades in the service shall be 60 years or 35 years of pensionable service whichever is earlier. Also, rule 020810 paragraph 2 of the same PSR provides that no officer shall be allowed to remain in service after attaining the retirement age of 60 years or 35 years of pensionable service whichever is earlier. In the same vein, chapter 1 section 4 paragraph (P) of the Harmonised Terms and Conditions of Service Officers 2017 (Revised) states that military service of an officer is a period of unbroken service in the Armed Forces of Nigeria from the date of commission to the date of retirement from service. This period of unbroken service covers date of enlistment into service as soldiers/ratings/airmen for Regular Commission, Short Service Commission, Direct Short Service Commission, Direct Regular Commission, Executive Commission Officers including other Commissions.

It is in the light of these aforementioned provisions that the affected Officers were advised to apply for voluntary retirement to avoid being considered for compulsory retirement by the Army Council. Suffice to also state that contrary to the misinformation being peddled, the Officers so advised cut across all category of commissions in the Nigerian Army and must have met either of these criteria as espoused in the aforementioned provisions of the law. It is therefore wrong, not true and deliberately misleading to allege that most of the officers so advised were those of the ex- boys of the Nigerian Military School Zaria.

Retirement do not necessarily follows Commission. Several Officers have silently proceeded on retirement on attainment of the provisions of the law. Every officer and soldier knows when his date of retirement or run out date is due and as such prepares for it.

The media is hereby advised to verify information from the appropriate source before rushing to press to avoid fake news that is not credible and also misleading the public. You're please requested to disseminate this important information through your medium to the public.

History says that Egypt even in coalition was beaten as badly by Israel alone as they have beaten other Arabs.
Just look at the losses of Egypt against this small country despite huge geographic & numerical advantage.

For any other country in middle east, UAE has an air force capable of giving unacceptable damage to even China, India and Russia, leave alone Egypt.

But yes, not many countries in middle east are strongetr than Egypt. Remember what I said? Arabs have worst military skills in world. Its meaningless because Egypt can't stand against any professional military outside greater middle east. Because no Arab military is capable at first place. Stop taking pride in calling yourself Egyptians, this country is now controlled by Arabs.
Any one of great power like US, UK, France, Russia, China, India, Japan or Germany can finish all Arabs countries combined alone.

Here's a pic of a Saudi sent for training at the Paki SSG! Generally, they were so terrible the Pakistanis realised they were reducing the value of their wings. So they issued qualified certificates and finally 'undergone training' certificates! Yes,the Saudis were that bad.

NAF AIRCRAFT OBLITERATE TERRORISTS’ TRAINING CAMP AT MALKONORY IN NORTHERN BORNO STATE

The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has destroyed an Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) training camp and neutralized several terrorists at Malkonory in Northern Borno State. The operation was executed yesterday, 10 February 19, after Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft observed significant human activities with several structures, equipment and vehicles spotted camouflaged under the dense vegetation in the area used by the terrorists for training.

Accordingly, 2 Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet aircraft were dispatched to attack the location, dropping their bombs successfully within the camp leading to massive fires and resulting in the neutralizing of several terrorists. Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) by own and allied ISR later revealed that the terrorists suffered heavy casualties as a result of the air strikes.

The NAF, operating in concert with surface forces, will sustain its efforts to completely destroy all remnants of the terrorists in the Northeast.

Ya. All Arab countries without exception are very bad in war fighting, all. They try to compensate by buying every avail able gizmo thrown by Western countries, Russia or China but it just does not work.

What army hasn't run (retreated) at one time or the other due to various reasons? The issue is who wins the war and not particular battles. Some armies in a particular region have reputations that precede them.

Difference is Reputation

Before 2014 I never once heard or could come to believe that a Nigerian soldier could flee or abandon ground & equipment [In fact it was a reputation that our boys always advanced]. Although this insurgency has soiled the reputation, Nigeria nor any African country has a proven track record of cowardice and tactical deficiency like the Arabs more so that the Arabs have better materiel

Some of those Arab nation have being giving Nigeria technical support right from time immemorial, the Egyptians played a greater role in Air raids /bombardment during the Nigerian Civil war. The blanket statement that all Arab countries are poor in warfare doesn't go down well with me. The Algerians fought an independence war with a powerful country (France) and won their independence, same with Tunisia during WW2 that saw the capture of over 30,000 German/Italian prisoners of war.
What I know is that the Arabs don't have coordination at all, with respect to a common ground against an enemy that is why Israel have the edge over them. Arab rulers are egoistic and wants to solely take the glory of conquering their perceived enemies in other to annex such lands and expand their kingdoms that is one reason why they never seem to make any reasonable impact in their region. Many people quickly point to the Arab Vs Israeli wars but fail to decode the major reason why they are always humiliated which is what I just pointed out, the day the Arabs come together under one leadership(unlikely, save for Armageddon) no nation in the middle East without any super power backing can withstand the heat. The Israelis are aware of this that is why their intelligence agencies work against any form of Arab collision by penetrating into the highest level of leadership in most Arab countries and carryout espionage mission seamlessly.

They did, as they had experience

This second bolded is the same reason why everyone already has the opinion that they can't fight. They are too caste minded & rigid [especially the ones that are not in Africa], something that affects their military.

Algeria and Tunisia both had major reasons to fight, nationalism.

At the end of the day, History informs reputation (good/bad) and you & I know what history says about middle Eastern military

Wars are not fought on the no of man or the no of equipments one can muster per se . It is fought on exploiting the given opportunities which allows one the maximum probability of wining a war on your terms.

For a successful outcome in any war in modern day it is half fought in battlefield and half in back door diplomacy and intelligence ops to make sure one can create conditions to persue and achieve the aims for the war for best possible results.

People generally see the results on the battlefield but have no clue on the non kinetic aspect of a war.

For the 1971 war it took 7 months of covert action to ensure that victory will be possible if a war were to actually happened .

The world is a collection of nations , some very powerful nations , so military victory is a culmination of successful wars fought both overt and covert, kinetic and non kinetic in multiple domains.

Am not even on about Arabs winning any war as I have a very rudimentary knowledge of the intricacies of the whole shebang. In fact I rarely blame outcomes of wars(as it is strategic) on Soldiers (we are all being played) but you can agree with me that "the tactical"(battles) is the turf of the military. Any slip there is a stain on historical slates.

hope you get my drift

TROOPS OF OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE DEALT WITH BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS IN MADAGALI

Troops of 143 Battalion, 28 Task Force Brigade, Sector 1 Operation Lafiya Dole deployed in Madagali, Adamawa State had on Saturday, 9 February 2019 successfully dealt a big blow to Boko Haram Terrorists(BHTs) following an attempted attack by the terrorists to infiltrate the Camp at about 1803hrs.

The terrorists who stormed the location in gun trucks and met their waterloo through stiff resistance coupled with massive fire power from the troops and inflicted serious casualty on the terrorists and their equipments. The troops in their effort successfully held their ground, disorganised the terrorists who later lost momentum and retreated in disarray.

During the encounter, the resilient troops neutralised many insurgents, captured 1 alive while several others scampered for their lives and fled with gunshot wounds. The gallant troops recovered 5 AK47 rifles, 4 magazines, 1 hand held grenade, 13 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 45 rounds of anti aircraft gun ammunition. Also recovered are 2 mobile phones and 1 sony camcorder camera from the BHTs.

Sadly, 1 soldier and a civilian paid the supreme sacrifice while 5 others sustained injuries and are receiving medical attention. The Acting General Officer Commanding(GOC) 7 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1, Operation Lafiya Dole, Brigadier General Abdulmalik Bulama Biu while commending their doggedness and gallantry, also commiserates with the families of the fallen heroes with firm assurance that their sacrifices will not be in vain.

Sometimes you have a large requirement that one supplier can't meet within your allowable lead time besides in the Nigerian context, sometimes you have to spend the money otherwise the CBN pulls the funds to some other emergency.

I don't believe Nigeria deliberately procures from multiple OEMs as a matter of policy.
