I say my opinion then leave. Why do people who don't like me or my style continue responding to me ? A lot of people annoy me, but I leave and ignore them. I pick and choose who and what I respond too. Some people here are wolves in sheep clothing. This isn't a little white lie or a mistake. This man is a legit 419 guy. After using fraudulent ways to secure a visa through "an agent", he's now in hot pepper and is coming here for legit valid opinion ? Does he want honest law abiding people to help him figure out how to continue cheating the system ? Let him go confine with his "agent". People leave naija because of people like him. 419 cheats, who's always looking for ways to achieve things through illegitimate means or through the back door. A guy like this will definitely erode the system if he comes here. I doubt Canada lets this con-artist in. my 2 kobo.

On a side note. Why was my response deleted ? Which kind democracy is this on this board ?
i doubt anyone doesn't like you, they might not like your harsh and confrontational comments.
like i said earlier, you don't have to jump to conclusion. wishing you all the best.

@amdman, thank you.
@Jumdah20, thanks for the words of prayer.
@joo2018, I wouldn't know if it's a standard procedure, as none of the officials said anything about it. We only decided to do that since we knew the sacks aren't strong enough. Everyone that had GMG bags also did same.
@cochtrane, thanks bro.
@influential101, thank you.
@Deyonsesi, lol @senior. The Lord is our strength sis
Thanks and amen to your prayers and I pray same for you and your family too.

@nikkycool, amen and thanks sis. We're family of seven and the ticket was for 1,829,600 naira. That was in December though.

@Ifeoma77, thanks a lot sis.

God bless you all for your kind wishes.

Flown through Frankfurt.
As a rule, I never put edibles in my carry-on suitcase. Regarding heavy beads, I would suggest you check with the airline.

Just in case you decide to wing it - on my first travel through Frankfurt, I was randomly picked for further screening (full-body and carry-on suitcase/backpack).

I don't think it's a good idea to put food in your hand luggage. But it's definitely going to be impossible to take poundo as carry-on. It's flour. It's a whitish, powdery substance. If you get my drift.

Noice! This sounds like a good idea indeed. If you ask me, I don't think your friend needs validation for his idea. If I were him, I'd be working to start implementing this asap. Maybe start with doing this for friends, family and friends of friends, and then see where it goes.

Chances are, he won't get as many replies to the survey as he may expect. I'm not sure Nigerians care that much for surveys. What are we to say then? The idea is not good enough?

Hello landed Seniors,
Trust y’all keeping well.
Am landing in Calgary early April. I started my accommodation search early cos am traveling with my kids. I must say this accommodation thingy is not a walk in the park at all. Without employment, credit history or references no one is willing to rent. When u find one too, it’s an adult only building or single occupancy ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️.
Immediately you tell them you are a newcomer, end of conversation.
My friend went for viewing of another place on Friday and as usual no employment wahala. She insists on taking 6months rent upfront.....I was negotiating for 3months upfront but proving difficult. Even though I can afford the 6months rent upfront, giving out such an amount early on in this journey freaks me.
I need your honest opinions pls.
Thank you

Hmmn...the snow go soon tire you o! grin Here's a funny narrative below to give you an idea of the typical new immigrants' snow experience (of course with exaggeration I believe grin )

Diary of a Demented Snow Sniveler

December 8- 6:00 PM
It started to snow. The first snow of the season and
the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by
the window watching the huge soft flakes drift down
from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses print. So
romantic we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow!

December 9
We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow
covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic
sight! Can there be a more lovely place in the whole
world? Moving here was the best idea I've ever had!

Shoveled for the first time in years and felt like a
boy again. I did both our driveway and the sidewalks.
This afternoon the snowplow came along and covered
up the sidewalks and closed in the driveway, so I got
to shovel again. What a perfect life!

December 12
The sun has melted all our lovely snow. Such a
disappointment! My neighbor tells me not to worry-
We'll definitely have a white Christmas. No snow on
Christmas would be awful! Bob says we'll have so much
snow by the end of winter, that I'll never want to see
snow again. I don't think that's possible. Bob is such
a nice man, I'm glad he's our neighbor.

December 14
Snow, lovely snow! 8 inches last night. The
temperature dropped to -20. The cold makes everything
sparkle so. The wind took my breath away, but I warmed
up by shoveling the driveway and sidewalks. This is the
life! The snowplow came back this afternoon and
buried everything again. I didn't realize I would have to
do quite this much shoveling, but I'll certainly get back in
shape this way. I wish I wouldn't huff and puff so.

December 15
20 inches forecast. Sold my van and bought a 4x4
Blazer. Bought snow tires for the wife's car and 2
extra shovels. Stocked the freezer. The wife wants
a wood stove in case the electricity goes out. I think
that's silly. We aren't in Alaska, after all.

December 16
Ice storm this morning. Fell on my ass on the ice in
the driveway putting down salt. Hurt like hell. The
Wife laughed for an hour, which I think was very
cruel.

December 17
Still way below freezing. Roads are too icy to go
anywhere. Electricity was off for 5 hours. I had to
pile the blankets on to stay warm. Nothing to do but
stare at the wife and try not to irritate her. Guess I
should've bought a wood stove, but won't admit it to
her. God I hate it when she's right. I can't believe
I'm freezing to death in my own livingroom.

December 20
Electricity is back on, but had another 14 inches of
the damn stuff last night. More shoveling! Took all
day. The damn snowplow came by twice.
Tried to find a neighbor kid to shovel, but they said
they're too busy playing hockey. I think they're
lying.
Called the only hardware store around to see about
buying a snow blower and they're out. Might have
another shipment in March. I think they're lying. Bob
says I have to shovel or the city will have it done
and bill me. I think he's lying.

December 22
Bob was right about a white Christmas because 13 more
inches of the white **** fell today, and it's so cold,
it probably won't melt till August. Took me 45 minutes
to get all dressed up to go out to shovel and then I
had to piss. By the time I got undressed, pissed and
dressed again. I was too tired to shovel. Tried to
hire Bob who has a plow on his truck for the rest of
the winter, but he says he's too busy. I think the
******* is lying.

December 23
Only 2 inches of snow today. And it warmed up to 0.
The wife wanted me to decorate the front of the house
this morning. What is she, nuts?!!
Why didn't she tell me to do that a month ago? She
says she did, but I think she's lying.

December 24
6 inches - Snow packed so hard by snowplow, I broke
the shovel. Thought I was having a heart attack. If I
ever catch the ***** who drives that snow
plow, I'll drag him through the snow by his balls and
beat him to death with my broken shovel. I know he
hides around the corner and waits for me to finish
shoveling and then he comes down the street at a 100
miles an hour and throws snow all over where I've just
been! Tonight the wife wanted me to sing Christmas
Carols with her and open our presents, but I was too
busy watching for the damn snowplow.

December 25
20 more inches of the *** slop tonight - Snowed in .
The idea of shoveling makes my blood boil. God, I hate
the snow!
Then the snowplow driver came by asking for a donation
and I hit him over the head with my shovel. The wife
says I have a bad attitude. I think she's a *****
idiot. If I have to watch "It's A Wonderful Life" one
more time, I'm going to stuff her into the microwave.

December 26
Still snowed in. Why the hell did I ever move here? It
was all HER idea.
She's really getting on my nerves.

December 27
Temperature dropped to -30 and the pipes froze;
plumber came after 14 hours of waiting for him, he
only charged me $1,400 to replace all my pipes.

December 28
Warmed up to above -20. Still snowed in. The ***** is
driving me crazy!!!

December 29
10 more inches. Bob says I have to shovel the roof or
it could cave in. That's the silliest thing I ever heard.
How dumb does he think I am?

December 30
Roof caved in. I beat up the snow plow driver, and now
he is suing me for a million dollars, not only for the
beating I gave him, but also for trying to shove the
broken snow shovel up his ass. The wife went home to
her mother.
Nine more inches predicted.

December 31
I set fire to what's left of the house. No more
shoveling.

January 8
Feel so good. I just love those little white pills
they keep giving me. Why am I tied to the bed?

Hi Guys, I still need help with getting driving records insurance from Nigeria. If you have any contact or are able to help, I will really appreciate it as my present driving insurance cost is crazy and I was told to get a letter from an Insurance company from Nigeria about my driving records and that I had no at-fault claims

For those of you who are considering buying a step down transformer to use with their (naija) appliances when you land, you may want to read this before you invest your money into one. If all you care for is to be able to charge your laptop and phone, you don't need a step down. Firstly, you should know Canada and U.S uses 110v while Nigeria uses 220v. Phones, laptops and some electronics usually have an input rating of "110v - 220v", meaning they would work unaided in both Canada and Nigeria. So before you buy a step down, make sure to check the input of the appliance you hope to use it with.

For appliances that you bought in Nigeria that has an input rating of 110V -220V, the only challenge you may have in using it in Canada is that the plug may not fit in the sockets here. To solve this, you could buy a travel adapter to use here. if it's a mobile device like a laptop or phone, It can be an inconvenience to have to always move around with a travel adapter. So, I'd advise you rather change the charger cord/plugs if you can. I bought a laptop cord that has an American plug few days before my trip. I am thankful I bought it in Nigeria, over here it cost as much as $20 for the same one I got for N500 at computer village.

Another issue is that a step down transformer doesn't guarantee that a device with a power input of 220V would work optimally or work at all in Canada. This is especially the case with motorised appliances like clippers, blenders etc. This is because electrical motors , care particularly for frequency rating in addition to voltage specs. So if your clipper is rated 50hz, you would need to make sure your step down's output is 50hz too.

I have attached two pics, the first is what the socket here looks like and the second is a pic of the compatible plugs. As you can see from the second pic, it doesnt matter if your plug has just 2 legs as the third is only just an earth connection.
