Sometimes you have a large requirement that one supplier can't meet within your allowable lead time besides in the Nigerian context, sometimes you have to spend the money otherwise the CBN pulls the funds to some other emergency.

I don't believe Nigeria deliberately procures from multiple OEMs as a matter of policy.

Meanwhile, how about Russia's shitty Kamov helicopter?.

NAF AIRCRAFT OBLITERATE TERRORISTS’ TRAINING CAMP AT MALKONORY IN NORTHERN BORNO STATE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMIecyWYPsI

It is possible that the NAF is using Thermobaric/Aerosol bombs? I watched a couple of NAF air strikes on youtube over the last weeks and i saw several times how green trees catched fire after a bombing. I wonder if that could be the result of of high heat generation as an effect of thermobaric blasts.
Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by LTGEN: 6:13pm On Feb 12, 2019
A combination of a couple of things both good and bad.
1) Very likely they are using thermobaric *&^%
2) Recent raids by bh has resulted in seizure of weapons some of which are highly flammable , some as small as a truck full of petrol to something more deadly as rpg caches and artillery shells - these are also causing secondary explosions

2019 GENERAL ELECTIONS: NAF COMMENCES AIRLIFT OF ELECTORAL MATERIALS FOR INEC

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), yesterday, 11 February 2019, commenced the airlift of electoral materials for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) across the country for the conduct of the 2019 General Elections. The airlift exercise includes day and night missions, during which both sensitive and non-sensitive electoral materials were conveyed in batches, with NAF C-130 Hercules aircraft from the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja to various airports across the country. The materials were duly delivered by the C-130H aircraft crew to teams of INEC and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) officials together with security personnel waiting at the various airports.

It may be recalled that the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, during his meeting with Air Officers Commanding (AOCs) and NAF Field Commanders on 1 February 2019, had expressed the readiness of the NAF to avail INEC its transport aircraft to enable expeditious movement of electoral materials, as done in the past. It is pertinent to state that the transport aircraft are deployed solely to provide airlift support to meet INEC’s logistics requirements, in fulfillment of NAF’s constitutional role of providing Military Aid to Civil Authority.

HE , if a HE bomb drops near you , no worries u will too catch fire @4000+ °F forget about green trees grin

TB / FAE bombs don't give off high vertical plume ( for a rough analogue - mushroom cloud ) and FAE bombs have 2 distinct set of detonations, not differentiable easily but shows in a thermal imager via a 2nd more hotter plume

Personally would prefer incendiary bomb dropped on BH, best cost Ver effectiveness ratio.

Jihadis consider it haram to die via burning so it acts a great deterrent grin

One occasionally comes across questions here about South Africa's nuclear program. The link below is one of the more comprehensive open sources out there on the program.

Personally, far more interesting than the weapons themselves, were the various delivery systems. From the Raptor glide system - acquired by Pakistan, Algeria and others – to the 1 500km RSA-3 rocket which precipitated the US shutting down our Space program as a condition to us joining the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR).
DEMISE OF THE SPACE LAUNCH PROGRAM AND TOUGH CONTROLS
ON ARMSCOR

Gaining membership to the Missile Technology Control Regime included tough conditions. The United States demanded that South Africa end its space launcher program, the rocket program that US officials viewed as essentially a dangerous ballistic missile program.
It also demanded that South Africa further limit its foreign sales of missile goods. The US government also imposed a range of conditions on Armscor (and Denel, a state-owned commercial company that took over the Armscor manufacturing subsidiaries in 1992) because of past illicit trade practices. South Africa agreed, but the damage to Armscor and in particular Denel was immense. Hundreds if not thousands of high-tech defense jobs were lost. 12

Thanks for reply. I saw a couple of videos with HE bombs dropped on areas with dense vegetation (Afghanistan and Libanon), never saw any trees on fire. Regrading to the vertical plume please watch this video of russian FAE in Syria. Similar blast effct what we see in some NAF videos.

Its the common beryl riffle used by the AFSF; expand the picture you will see its the same riffle buttstock, only there is a kind of military sticker badge/decals on the buttstock.

Thanks for the clarification, Bidexiii.
Do you have any idea if DICON got the nod to start producing them locally? Bad idea, I know, but just checking.

I noticed some AFSF guys also carry AK103 as seen on this thread.
Maybe they were issued by NAF since most of the guys in the picture I saw are NAF guys.

Our main issue has been; working with tight military budget and order-of-priority. The DICON factory in Kaduna is still undergoing some upgrades and they have to work with the little budget allocated to th sector. It migh take along time/years befor these modern riffle production line comes to lime-light.

The Army authorities on there own part too does not place its priorities right. The recent military factory commissioned to build & repiar ATV/BRT and other armored vehicles in Kaduna is a repetition of what we have in Bauchi. The Bauchi SPV should have just be upgraded to meet the current challenges instead of creating another plant in Kaduna. Such funds would av been diverted to DICON or othe important sectors.

Those AK Variants used by AFSF are issued by the defense HQ and are only used by the AFSF.

The NA issues the beryl riffle to its SF; 72MSF/army strike force etc.

The Nigerian Army (NA) in pursuant of its mandate to help create a secure and enabling environment for the conduct of the 2019 General Elections would be operating a 24/7 Situation Room. The general public is hereby encouraged to forward genuine information on security related matters as may arise during the elections period to the numbers herein provided. Additionally, the public could utilize the NA Information Call Center short code 193 from any Nigerian network or the NA iReport platform on https://army.mil.ng. Thank you for partnering with the NA in providing a safe environment for the 2019 General Elections.

You should se the acquisitions they made between 2016 and 2018 and deliveries, this CNS is also transforming the navy they just have really really poor public relation strategy.

The next step is to refurbish and revamp the dry docks and localize maintenance, partner with private firms (local or international) to improve manufacturing and fabrication

AIB releases preliminary report on Osinbajo helicopter crash
The Accident Investigation Bureau ( AIB ) has released the preliminary report of the helicopter crash involving Agusta Westland W 139 Caverton Helicopters which flew Vice President to Kabba in Kogi State on February 2nd.
Speaking at a briefing at its headquarters at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos today Wednesday February 13th, AIB Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, Akin Olateru, said preliminary report shows the helicopter crash was atrributed to the effects of a blown out generator during its landing in a dry dusty environment. The report said Caverton should have carried out risk assessment test at the Kaaba stadium before the flight.
Olateru said though the investigation into the crash is ongoing, it has however issued two safety recommendations to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the operator : Caverton Helicopters Limited. He added that the NCAA should issue advisory circular to helicopter operators on the effects of brown out and how to mitigate its effects. The second safety recommendation, Olateru said is for Caverton Helicopters to carry out proper risk analysis and assessment before operating flights into unapproved landing pad.
Olateru said the final report on the accident will be released in a few months .
