You don't know what you are talking about, the US military can destroy Afghanistan and the Taliban in a week. The reason for the prolonged conflict is because it's a guerilla war and they have rules of engagement to minimize civilian casualties, there is also an economic angle to the war because the US normally use wars to bring itself out of recessions plus all the defense contractors making money and the CIA bringing heroin out of Afghanistan. They go through worse... US marine training is mini hell, soldiers line up left and right.. Then the new guys pass through their middle and receive continuous blows and kicks till the end of the line...

They tie them, hands and legs and roll them down a hill in forest, they have to navigate trees and rocks... Their body takes several hits from the obstacles...

They swim in the mud...

The only difference is that they receive proper medical treatment after all the torture...

And they also equip them with sophisticated technology and weapons for battle...

it's the U.S. phases withdrawal and thinking that Afghan forces could hold ground is what led to the resurgence of these groups (that's one angle)
Now that the Afgan cannot hold ground themselves, the USA has to step in again.

US military training is a representation of battlefield prototypes. what you see on the pictures are exactly what any military personnel is likely to go through in a real-time battlefield. there are not abuse, inhuman or punishment. But in Nigeria, soldiers are tortured in the name of training. they get flogged with koboko while they are scooping hot rice with their bare hands. They are asked to put their bared heads on a concrete and other stupid stuff. Tell me what area on the battlefield can a soldier meet such situation? where will such training be useful?
In US military training, safety is the number one priority regardless of how though the training may be. In Nigeria, I don't think they know what is called safety, otherwise, they won't tuture anybody.

When a Soldier is Capture by the Enemy, they will torture him to get information from him, if he have no Experience about Enduring Pain and withstanding Torture then he will just leak all his troop secrets to the enemy and his troops will be massacre.

The Taliban has access to weapons like BM-21, RPG's some with heat seeking capabilities, numerous 50 cals, etc. What they do not have is air support and tanks but the geography of Afghanistan ensures that they do not necessarily need those.
