Guys thanks a lot for all the lively posts, learned a lot. For those wondering if they should accept the offer from a regular bank or from CBN, I say take CBN fast! I worked for a brief period in one of Nigeria's arguably top 5 banks. Trust me I know. Well I like my present job, the pay is not crazy high or anything, but there are perks - plenty of them. Besides I'm done with entry level. I was simply called to write the test, I didn't apply believe it or not. Atleast I didn't apply by myself, someone may have applied on my behalf. However someone did tell me a coupla months ago that CBN was recruiting and they advertised, so this must be the 'fallout'. That's the koko. |

Hi all, I dont know how much they pay, but I know its something you will be well satisfied with compared to other Banks in Nigeria, not to mention the flexible working hours you will have unlike commercial Banks. I went for CBN test in lagos around August, invited for interview 27th October. it was very well done. Unfortunately, I was not successful cos I had a 3rd class in my Bsc even though I had a 1st class in my MSc. The group of guys that attended with me are currently having their induction in Lagos from the 17th January. I wish u goodluck 1 Like |

don't be misled by anybody. the cbn (the bank) salaries and allowances are gauged by what obtains in the civil service, that's probably why the staff are easily influenced in their decisions when taking action against banks with bad records. the bank tries to remunerate its staff with allowances to compensate them for the huge difference btw them and what obtains in the industry. Sanusi came from 1st bank and was dismayed at the take home of the bank's staff, unfortunately, he hasn't been able to reduce the gap btw what obtains at the bank and the industry. for those that want to try their luck in the bank, i'm sorry you might be disappointed. you may be able to do one or two things there but you'ill be lacking behind among your peers. My advice, try the customs or IRS. better option! |

Guys don't Jump yet, those millions u quoted up there are not real. My brother is an Asst. Manager in CBN and his salary is 100k+. The basic salary of a manager in CBN is not up to 250k /month. The only good thing is the allowances (many of them) and they usually give share some lump sum amount to staff and call it one name or another. Their traveling allowance is mouth- watering especially if it is to abroad. This is to help themselves. plus other goodies which I won't express here. Job security is number 1. so my nairaland brother move from ur place to that place. Infact u wont regret it. |

CBN is an organization I've always wanted to join. But the issue has been pay. I have three years experience, and anything less than 7m is a non-no for me if I have to leave here. With 3 years experience, if CBN can give me Assistant Manager, I'll go. |

i think the cbn, ought to satisfy the curiousity of nigerians, and rebut the statement of dimeji bankole by publicising their expenditure and their allowances |

@Wumine: Actually 3 to 4 yrs experience with some grad degree (MSc) or difficult certification (ICAN) can certainly, as in certainly earn you A.M. in most reformed Public 'parastatals' in Nigeria. Infact, Jarus's concerns completely reflect my predicament. In as much as there seems to be a cloud of uncertainty around the terms of renumeration, and I'm speaking from experience, the overall package will be reasonably attractive. I know this because I'm presently employed by the government (Federal). So all you guyz wondering if you should leave or stay or , Just have that in mind. I know this. I was only hoping to get more concrete info. You know Job hunting when you start forming 'having experience' is different from job hunting at entry level when you'll most likely accept anything - atleast for a start. |

CBN salary + allowances is nothing to jump at. @ poster, one thing you are sure of in CBN is a stress free working environment. It is not like the normal Commercial back where it is target driven. It is a place where you come to work, relax, do your work and once it is closing time, you close and go home and have rest of mind. Also, in CBN, patience pays just like in other FG establishment, the higher you go, the more happy you are. If you are in the fast lane, that needs money as if there is no tomorrow, then CBN is not for you, but if you are looking for a place to relax, work in a good environment, grow old and retire, then join the CBN family, you will definitely enjoy it . Signor Zax: I am also speaking from experience. 1 Like |

I've never seen a more conflicting set of ideas over the same topic; especially one supposedly so, so objective. The test was written last saturday, with about 1500 candidates present at the Bwari Law school venue. If I am to go by responses on this thread, I'd say whatever the outcome (of the test), I'm okay. I was able to gather this much tho thru pure gossip:- Entry level: housing allowee 1.5M, 1st 28 days 650k, relocation 920K. I don't know which is fact or fiction or fantastic. 1 Like |

The figures are not true, don't mind them. Just make up your mind and take the job if they offer you, after all you just did the test, they might not even invite you for interview in the next three months if it is the CBN that i know. But i assure you, you will not regret it. Ciao |

Read wide, read abt CBN in general and the some little minute details that ordinarily you might overlook. Read abt Sanusi and his recent awards and also other things you are suppose to know. Wish you luck, when you get the Job, don't hesitate to tell us so that we can rejoice with you. God will be with you. 1 Like |
