PRESS RELEASE

TROOPS WARDS OFF BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS DESPARATE MOVE TO SCUTTLE 2019 ELECTIONS IN BORNO STATE

In the early hours of today, there was an attack by unconfirmed number of Boko Haram terrorists using Person Borne Improvised Explosive Device (PBIED) at Jidimari community in Jidari Polo area of Jere Local Government Area of Borno State. This is in their highly desperate, orchestrated and collaborative resolve with their cohorts and sponsors to scuttle the 2019 General Elections.

Consequently, troops of 251 Task Force Battalion in conjunction with Civilian JTF immediately repelled the attack, mopped up and cleared the general area.

The encounter led to the elimination of 3 boko haram terrorists and recovery of 2 AK 47 rifles. Unfortunately, 4 innocent civilians lost their lives as a result of terrorists gun fire in addition to lethal explosion arising from PBIED mainly targeted at a mosque at a prime time of early morning prayers.

The carrier of the PBIED and a CJTF who strived to prevent the suicide bomber from accessing the mosque also lost their lives due to the IED explosion.

At the moment, troops have dominated the area, cordon and search as well as exploitation are concurrently ongoing.

Situation in the area is now calm. Normal routine activities are gradually going on. The army wishes to reiterate its resolve to ending the remnant of boko haram criminals thereby bringing an effective and an enduring end to terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria.

Members of the public are please enjoined to be more alert and avail security agencies of any observed or suspicious movement of persons or items. Doing so will indeed assist security agencies to effectively deal with the challenge.

The cost of these Mi-17s varies widely. Some second hand ones from Eastern European nations cost less than a million dollars each. Iraq recently obtained 22 Mi-17 helicopters from Russia for about $3.7 million each. At one point the U.S. bought 24 refurbished Mi-17s for $4.4 million each.

August 19, 2013 (WASHINGTON) – Sudan and Russia sealed two agreements since 2011 for the sale of two dozen Mi-24 attack helicopters and 14 MI-8 transport helicopters, a Russian newspaper reported today....An analyst surveyed by Vedomosti put the value of the contract to be between $150-$200 million which includes maintenance and certain upgrades to the helicopters.

Five members of Boko Haram terrorists (BHTs) have met their waterloo as they along with others (BHTs) attempted woefully to ransack a military base at Buni yadi, in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State at about 06:05 hours (pm) on Saturday the 16th of February, 2019.

Though, the terrorists appeared prepared for the attack as they approached the military location with 4 gun trucks,1 Mine Resistant Ambush Protection,1 MOWAC and assorted arms and ammunitions, they, however, suffered heavy losses as five of the bandits/terrorists were effectively deleted, 9 x AK 47 rifles, 1x Anti Aircraft gun, 121 rounds of 12.7 mm Anti Aircraft ammunitions, 2x 36 hand grenades, 295 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, 4x Improvised Explosive(IED) Device, 1x IED cylinder, 1x RPG bomb, 1x RPG bomb charger, 1x gun truck and 1x Bajaj Motorcycle were recovered.

Unfortunately, an officer and 3 soldiers have lost their lives during the encounter. While 5 soldiers were wounded, are stable and receiving treatment in the Brigade Field Ambulance.

The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai has already commended in general terms, the successes being recorded by troops in recent times, in the various operational arenas especially in the North East and enjoined all personnel to remain resolute, alert and decisive as well as professional in the discharge of onerous national assignment.

Nigerian Army hereby expressed appreciation to all those who passed timely credible information that aided the successful abortion of this obviously deliberately attempted attack on troops position in Buni Yadi.

We are sitting on our arses oo. Probably this administration doesn't want anything 2nd hand so as to be politically correct because I know these things can be negotiated in deals.

Street smart buying and we could have had pre owned Mi-17s, BTR80 and BMP-2s refurbished and pressed into service from as early as 2016. Who knows, some men would still be alive

How did "TROOPS OF SPECIAL FORCES SCHOOL & 27 TASK FORCE BRIGADE INFLICT SERIOUS DESTRUCTION TO BH TERRORISTS"?

Boko came with 4 gun trucks and lost 5 man while we lost 4 men with 5 wounded. The maths doesn’t add up: Boko lost 5 untrained and cheap souls, rubbish individuals good for nothing for they were of no use to their parents, community, religion, Nation or planet. Nigeria lost 4 expensively trained soldiers, soldiers valuable both practically and socially to the Nation and the world. It would be great if the gun trucks were destroyed but I take it they were not since Boko lost only five men. Or were the trucks empty? Perhaps the article was written by someone in Hausa and coherence was lost in translation – article certainly has a quality and style too amateurish otherwise.

RIP Soldiers.

Not denying that hyperbole wasnt used here but theres still the material loss and it's likely BH carry their wounded and some killed away. Imo the 9 AKs themself prove that's it's at least 9 KIA BH.

ABU DHABI (Reuters) - South African defense company Paramount Group expects to sign agreements with four African governments this year to set up production facilities in their countries, its chairman said on Sunday.

Paramount, Africa's largest privately owned defense firm, has established manufacturing capabilities to meet demand from specific domestic markets before, including in India, Jordan, and Kazakhstan.

It is in talks with four countries in west and east Africa over deals that it expects to sign this year. A further three agreements could be signed in southern Africa in two years' time.

"Africa really is innovative," Ivor Ichikowitz told Reuters at the IDEX military exhibition in Abu Dhabi.

"There is a huge amount of skill. There is a huge amount of human capital on the African continent that makes what we are planning to do very achievable."

Paramount, which has maintenance and overhaul operations in Africa, has started to implement some agreements, he said, declining to disclose further details.
