Help, My Dog Won't Stop Vomiting by Kelvin30286063(m): 8:04am On Feb 19, 2019 |
Guy please help, one of my dogs has been vomiting since 2 days not. I don't remember her eating anything unusual. She vomits everything I give her and won't eat, now she's vomiting saliva since there is no food in her belly. The crazy part is that she's still very active and plays around with the other one. I have tried to understand what is going on with her but I can't pinpoint anything. I'm really worried cuz she's so thin and weak. She's not late on vaccination They are both 4 months old. I have called the vet but he can't be there at the moment, what can I give her to stop the constant vomiting so she can eat before the vet comes? |

Kelvin30286063:that is a symptom of parvo, I suggest you keep her hydrated, separate her from the other dog and get her to another vet asap. it may not be parvo but just to be on the safe side, do that now, parvo kills puppies fast. |

IamAnderson:Thank you. What can I do to save her? I don't exactly have access to a lot of vets where I live. |

IamAnderson:Update, so I'm at the vet clinic now, they confirmed what you said that it's parvo but it's at its early stage and they commended me for bringing her early. Bottom line, they listed injections, drugs and charged me 15k. Though I'm not financially buoyant right now but no amount of money is worth the life of my dogs

Kelvin30286063:don't answer this guy, he's just a hopeless romantic who can't find a date who trolls around nairaland pet section with his humourless, crude and stale jokes. he's not going to stop because nothing is going on in his life, he's beneath you don't even answer him. his next move now is to post pics of your dog and put it up for sale repeatedly, just ignore him the insect will buzz away 1 Like |

Kelvin30286063:sorry I couldn't answer earlier, I had to run some errands quickly. parvo is a deadly disease, I will advice you to clean everywhere that puppy has been in your house with bleach so the other one won't get infected. keep the uninfected puppy away from the infected one, don't let them play together till this ordeal is over. also agbogeh is right, the dog needs to be admitted and also given constant care, make sure the dog is hydrated if not the puppy will die slowly. I'm sorry this happened but you need to know parvo is a 50:50 chance of survival. some dogs survive, some die. just make sure the other puppy is kept away from the infected one so the disease won't spread. I hope your puppy recovers from the virus. |

agboedeh: It might be a tick fever. Majority of our vets have no clue and every ailment is a parvo to them. No blood sample, no nothing but they will be shouting parvo parvo. 2 Likes |

agboedeh:it's true they shouldn't be prescribing drugs and injections for parvo |
Re: Help, My Dog Won't Stop Vomiting by agboedeh: 11:21am On Feb 19, 2019 |
oluomoadebayo:It could be worms, tick fever, parvo ,parasites etc. The only true way to know the real cause of the problem is by doing series of test in order to know best type of treatment. its really difficult to get a good vet hospital in Nigeria. |
Re: Help, My Dog Won't Stop Vomiting by IamAnderson(m): 11:23am On Feb 19, 2019 |
oluomoadebayo:that's another thing I had in mind, they diagnosed the parvo too fast. anyway let him just take the preventive measures for parvo in case they are correct so the other dog won't get infected |

agboedeh:it's very sad, I know only one good vet that I can trust here in pH, the rest I just go to them for minor things. some that I will meet for basic things I already know the answer to will be giving me stupid advise that I know is obviously wrong. their is one guy I went to when my dog was stooling because I changed his multivitamins, he told me that multivitamins were not good for dogs and I should give my dog only 1 tablet per week. another one was asking me if I'd be interested in entering my dog into a dog fight he was planning. |

agboedeh:I don't even know what to believe anymore. Right now, the dog is back home, she eat and they gave me a kinda drip water to serve her. She drank some of it and she's sleeping now. She has not vomited so far. I hope it continues |
Re: Help, My Dog Won't Stop Vomiting by Kelvin30286063(m): 11:47am On Feb 19, 2019 |
agboedeh:Yes I've been giving them chicken bones for sometime. I thought dogs like bones. And I have been bathing them with tick treatment shampoo so tick is not the problem. I've never spotted any tick on them. Maybe it's the chicken bones. |
Re: Help, My Dog Won't Stop Vomiting by agboedeh: 11:49am On Feb 19, 2019 |

Re: Help, My Dog Won't Stop Vomiting by agboedeh: 11:57am On Feb 19, 2019 |
Kelvin30286063:dats d problem. Pls stop giving them bones, they may like it but its very very dangerous. When my local dog was around six or seven months old, I gave him a lot of cooked chicken with bones still intact. He couldn't eat for 3 days,he just kept vomiting and passed out very hard and scanty stools. There was no good vet in my area to perform the surgery (remove the bones that are causing the obstruction) so I just prayed and put him on IV fluids so he doesn't get dehydrated. All the bones passed out with time and he became better again. |
