Pls guys, I'm going for chemistry, University of Ibadan.
I have 1 B2, 2C5 and 2C6. What do you think I should be aiming for in jamb? And pls I need breakdown on how post utme score is calculated. Is my WAEC too low? Last year cut off for chemistry was 54, for 2017 it was 50. Pls I need a good breakdown. Thanks!

Wow shocked

My result is same as yours just that my aggregate was 64.125 last year. Well, this year will be better.
And they probably cancelled your result cause you score less than 50 in their post ume. Ui doesn't grant admission based on waec

lol, no. I didn't apply. I just finished my ND last year. I want to pick a jamb form and a direct entry form or I just pick a jamb form and see if I get a good jamb score I won't bother upgrading my jamb to direct entry (new development).
But wait, how was the post utme exam last year? grin make I know first.

It is expedient for you to know that UI dont grade ur olevel, having A1 parallel in ur five relevant subject is the same thing as having c6 parallel as long as UI putme is concerned.

method adopted as at last year is as follows:

jamb score/ 8 + putme score/2

400/8=50 + 100/2= 50

which one is correct
and explain why
The correct answer is B
RULE OF CONCORD
Because of the presence of "Three quarter of " and "half of" the verbs will be in singular forms.
The verbs are not acting on "people" or "huts" but the noun phrases "three quarter of the people in the village" and "half of their huts"
For questions like this always try to replace the noun phrase with pronoun then decide the correct form of verb to go with it.
In this sentence now you will see that the correct pronoun to replace those noun phrases is "it" and "it" will always go with a singular verb.
I suck at explaining stuff but I hope you understand. I'm sure this is correct.

you are definitely mixing things up on concord rules

all these attract plural verb
a percentage of, series of, a survey of, a range of , a number of

for (half of) the noun after (of)will determine our verb

i dont want to argue pls use goggle for more research on this if you find something that is contrary to what i said screeshot ans upload pls

Tresellea:
Please, does anyone know of any tricks to calculating pH, pOH and concentration? Antilog as well.
I'm kinda lost.

pH = -log [H+]
If [H+]=10^-x, then
pH = -log [10^-x]
pH = -(-x) log10
pH = x log 10
pH = x
N.B: Log is always in base 10 and log 10 in base 10 = 1
For example,
1) To find the pH of 0.01 moldm-³ of HCl.
HCl -----> H+ + Cl-
[H+] = 1×0.01=0.01 moldm-³
pH = - log [H+]
pH = - log (0.01)
pH = - log (1×10-²)
pH = -(-2) log 10
pH = 2

2) To find the pH of 0.001 moldm-³ of H2SO4
H2SO4 -------> 2H+ + SO4²-
[H+] = 2×0.001=0.002 moldm-³
pH = - log [H+]
pH = - log (0.002)
pH = - log (2×10-³)
pH = - (log 2 + log 10-³)
pH = - (log 2 - 3)
pH= - log 2 + 3
pH = 3 - log 2

In a case like this, I want you to know that, a number with a high concentration ( i.e above 3×10^-x) will have a low pH and a number with a low concentration ( i.e below 3×10^-x) will have a high pH.

Now after understanding this, let take a look at the question above.
The hydrogen ion concentration is low and this implies that it will have a high pH I.e a pH above 2.5.

Another method you can make use of as in the above question is first memorise what log 2, log 3, log 5, and log 7 are off hand. This will make it easier for you to calculate pH of any number.
So let continue, log 2 = 0.3010 = ~0.30

pH = 3 - log 2
pH=3 - 0.30
pH = 2.7

Follow the same procedure as above for pOH also.

Other formulas are:

pOH = - log [OH-] or pOH = 14 - pH

pH + pOH = 14

[H+][OH-] = 10^-14

[H+] = 10^-14/[OH-]

[OH-] = 10^-14/[H+]

Hope this help ??

USE OF ENGLISH

(1) Is the load __ heavy THAT you can't carry it alone?

A) much
B) so ✔
C) very
D) too

adverb of degree (so) attracts (that)sometimes
another example.
she is SO beautiful THAT every man in the village wants to mary her.
B ia correct

(2) The boys look alike that one can't know __
A) who is whom
B) who is who ✔
C) which is which
D) whom is whom

Who and whom the difference is Who is subjective can be replace with (He) and whom is object, it can be replace with him.
Who is who is a clause on its own
the first (who) is a subject so we cant use whom.
we cannot say who is whom because if we replace (whom) with (him) the question will now reads who is him which is incorrect rather we say who is he.

who is who is correct B

(3) I will soon attend __ you
A) to ✔
B) on
C) for
D) at
this doesnt need any explaination
attend to.

(4) As __ now, Bakayoko is the best player
A) of
B) at ✔
C) in
D) on
this question is quite tricky
lets eliminate option C & D as it is grossly incorrect in this regard.
non native english speaker uses (as of now) to mean currently which is incorrect rather it means henceforth/ or as from now on/ going forward
it is illogical to say hencefoth, bakayoko is the best player.

as at now/ currently/right now is more logical

(5) You should be __ the alert
A) at
B) on ✔
C) in
D) by
at alert
on the alert
