I strongly believe you would obtain first hand information on VISA processes from EducationUSA since it operates under the auspices of the US Embassy.

"EducationUSA is a U.S. Department of State network of over 400 international student advising centers in more than 170 countries. EducationUSA is officially a branch in the Office of Global Educational Programs in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs." Wikipedia

may be they have changed but i think they are there to vet and discourage students grin grin grin

Go to Mexico or Canada if you wanna renew your visa. You don't need to travel to Nigeria to renew your visa...

Wow, thanks for the insight.
domex007:

dont even go there, they will discourage you.
I went there after my second visa denial and the woman used me as example to other students. walspring can relate grin grin.

In education USA at the embassy they say you cant study in the US if you are using GCE result,
you cant study in the US if you have been denied US visa before
you cant study in the US if you have been out of school for more than 6 months or there about
you cant study in the US if you dont have a direct sponsor
and of course you cant study in the US if you are using OLUWOLE BANK STATEMENT grin grin

EducationUSA said i was not qualified to study in the US but to God be all the glory i am in the US now with a GCE Result, 3 Previous Visa denials, been out of school for more than 3 years and my uncle that we dont bear same last name is my sponsor.. (i wish i had their number i would have called them to tell them to stop discouraging Nigerian students)

you can go to them for extra knowledge but DONT LET WHAT THEY SAY DISCOURAGE YOU,. GOOD LUCK

Here comes another careless and uncultured statement. I would like you to define what you mean by "dead" before I speak further.

This is the second time in a row that you are attacking my post for no just reason. I've said it before, you don't have to attack others to feel accomplished.

Using the word careless and uncultured is an insult to me. I know when am being insulted. If you cannot grasp the contextual meaning of words in my sentences, please don't quote my posts. i beg you in the name of whatever you believe in.
I like to express myself with words, leave it like that for me

While i was typing this post, i had this feeling that you would come looking for faults and here you are but i won't be dragged into another exchange of words like the last time, and please keep waiting for me to define what I mean by "dead", Fall 2019 PhD intakes go graduate and you go still dey wait.

What’s your major and why are you running away from standardized tests?

Hello please I’ve been rejected from UMD because my undergraduate degree was 3years but I graduated with a 2:1 CGPA 3.8/5. Please I’d like to know which other school I can check out for masters without having to write any standardized test.

Hello guys.

I just got admission into North Carolina State University for a masters program. I didn't write GRE as I used the MSc. degree I had before as part of my supporting documents. On the admission letter, it was like a conditional admission as it was clearly stated that I have to pass a certain course within my first 2 semesters. Although, the supervisor I secured already promised me funding but its like it will be difficult with a conditional admission. My questions are these:

1. I have been sent the the sponsors form for the I-20 form stating clearly that I should attach an account containing about $30,100. I am not going to fund myself but i can run around to secure one but may not be that of any of my relative with same name, will I not run into trouble securing visa as a result of a conditional admission?

2. I am above 35yrs still going for an MSc. won't there be a great challenge defending that during visa interview.

3. Is it advisable to continue with it because I don't want to put much effort and get disappointed after.

Please guys, advise me.
If I were you, I will shoot for a Phd not 2nd masters. Now to your question, your age is not a barrier so far you can convince the VO while you are going for a second masters. However, how do you intend to fund the masters? Just like someone said, NC is not like Texas or Cali or Newyork etc where some people hustle to raise money. NC is dead in that regard. Like I said, if you have no legal means of getting the money, just reapply for a Phd.

Hi Everyone, I am Dayo by Name, I am hoping to apply to schools in the US for my Msc for fall 2019. I graduated from UI, Petroleum Engineering with a 2'1 (5.5/7). Yet to take GRE or TOEFL, I am looking forward to someone putting me through on the whole process as i have little knowledge about the whole thing. I would need suggestions on schools I could apply to( Pet engr or Energy related courses) and tips on how I could get funding. I would be glad if someone could put me through. Thanks in anticipation!
Its late already for fall 2019. Your best bet is fall 2020, Spring 2020 is also feasible but funding is usually not that much if you desire to be funded. Go through my post and you should get some insight. Come back here and ask questions about specific things that are not clear to you

Lol, you're even counting it.

Honestly, I don't even remember you. I can't tell if we've previously had a conversation except I check my chat history. I commented on your post cos I found it misleading for many people who might desire to study at NC.

Again, I won't throw more light on this until you clearly define the context at which you called NC a dead state.

Don't bother counting how many times we've had conversations. If I find any reason to comment on any post, I will do so.

If you don't understand the contextual meaning of a word, you ask politely. That's how matured and intelligent people behave and not by first throwing shades before asking arrogantly.

Some people are skilled with writing, intertwining words into sentences and sentences into epistles that you have to read deeply and collectively to get the full understanding of the whole epistle they are writing and not just taking it a few words or sentence seperately.

And you don't have to quote other people's contribution, you can contribute your own opinion instead of sitting and waiting for others to contribute so you can come and find misleading words in their contributions to highlight.

Again if you have read my post without the intent to find misleading words, you would have easily understood the contextual meaning of the "dead". It isn't rocket science or machine language and you don't need data mining to see it.

Hope this helps you

warm regards

There's nothing skilled or intertwining in your post. You couldn't even explain what you wrote until someone else did. So, I don't know where the skillful or the intertwining or the epistles are coming from.

Again, let me restate that I don't even remember if we had a previous discussion. Even after this moment, I might not remember your username again (probably except you remind me again). I saw something misleading in your comment and highlighted it. So stop sounding like I have you in mind cos I really don't remember if we had a previous conversation.

No need talking about this. Let's not derail the thread.

If you've asked politely, I might have answered you but you didn't and it's been your way of undermining people's contribution on this thread. This is neither your first, second nor third time. Its bad, You need to change.

No one is an island of knowledge, you need to live and let others live. You mustn't put mouth into all conversation. Sometimes you let sleeping dogs lie. Once again I say live and let others live

Guys. Please can I use my cousin or aunty's in america bank statement to get my i20? While I and my sisters work on building the ones we plan to use for the interview.

The i20 just has self or sponsors as means of funding. Also can that my cousin aslo be used as sponsors in the visa interview.

My cousin in american and works in nigeria. Her job is in the us and still gets paid there.\

What I am trying to say is using my cousin now for i20 and possibly using my sisters for visa. Is that any red flag?

Please please advice.

I posted my transcript about F2 visa rejection in Lagos a couple of weeks ago. I decided to reapply immediately, and I was able to get a date in Abuja. The screening process was quite long and tedious compared to Lagos. Also, my baby was a bit restless, so I kept moving back and it took a while for my turn. This is the transcript of the interview as I can remember it;

VO: Good afternoon.

Me: Good afternoon Ma.

VO: Pass me your passport.

I gave her our passports and I-20s. She took her time to go through the I-20 and typed for a while.

VO: Where is husband studying?

Me: He is studying Molecular Biology in the University of ABC.

VO: How long have you been married?

Me: We have been married for 4 years it will be 5 years in a few months.

VO: How many children do you have?

Me: We have one child.

VO: Has he visited since he left?

Me: Yes, he visited us in August of last year.

VO: I can see that there is a shortfall in the living expenses on the I-20, how do you pay the rest?

Me: My husband has full funding and we have some personal savings.

She excused herself and left the cubicle with the passport and I-20 for about 5 minutes. While she was away, I was worried that maybe she was not convinced about the funding. Therefore, when she came back, I quickly said;

Me: I have the funding letter from his school here, would you like to see it?

VO: That wouldn’t be necessary (while smiling).

VO: Was he working before he left for the United States?

Me: He was working as a lecturer, and he is currently on study leave.

VO: What will you be doing in the U.S?

Me: I will be busy raising my child as well as providing physical and emotional support for my husband.

VO: Have you traveled before?

Me: No, I have not had a reason to travel.

VO: Do you or your husband have any relatives in the United States?

No: We don’t have any relatives in the U.S.

VO: I will be approving your visa. Please excuse me I need to get a document for you.

Me: Thank you Ma. (I few tears of joy rolled down from my eyes.)

She left and came back with a document containing instruction for student visa applicants stating that students are only allowed to enter U.S 30 days before the start of the program and not after the start date on the I-20. It also contains a reminder to take along and present I-20 at the port of entry.

I give all praises and thanks to Almighty Allah. I prayed fervently, did several mock interviews, and prepared written answers to likely questions. I big thank you to everyone on this thread. I learned a lot from here. By the way, I use full hijab that covers me from head to toe. I hope this will encourage and be useful for someone.

Congrats ma. I'm encouraged by this your testimony.
