Defensively, the current crop stand a chance especially at center back.

The Centre Back has 2 positions. Yobo was one of them. That was why I said not more than 1 or 2: Mikel, who was also part of that earlier team and one of the CBs, Ekong probably. None of our Full backs is near Taiye Taiwo and Chidi Odiah.

Ok then. It is a good one. More competition at the CB.

Valentine ozornwafor invited to the super Eagles
Good one.

He's the only decent player in that U-30 team. Strong tackles, good defensive awareness, good height, physicality and confidence on the ball. If he works on his passing ability we may have a world class CB on our hands in no time.

Plus, I think the time has come for Leon Balogun to be slowly eased out of the team.

Do we really believe in "Juju" in football?

Osaze Odemwingie, a former Super Eagles forward in a new interview said that 70% of African players use juju as he recounted a past experience.

ho was raised in Russia, recounted how he was taken to a shaman (native doctor) instead of a medical doctor after he sustained an injury on his hand. He went on to disclose that it is not a rare occurrence among his colleagues to use juju instead of a medical doctor.

He told Championat;;

“Just at least 70% of players believe in it. They think that some kind of salve will save them. This is more suggestion. Brainwashing goes. But three years in Nigeria have been helpful to me. They called me to the big league, and there my career developed much faster.”

Imagine Yakubu, Martins and Kanu hitting double digits. Meanwhile elsewhere Utaka, Nsofor, Makinwa and Osaze were also hitting the back of the net.

And all those players were in the SE team at the same time! Now u understand why I have always opined that not more than 1 or 2 of the current crop of SE will make that 2004-2006/7 Eagles team.
yet we failed to qualify for 2006 world cup.

Also Igho Ogbu. What gladdens me most about Ogbu is that he was among the Manu's 2017 U17 that passed the MRI. Meaning he is really young and playing with so much maturity and excellent sense of judgment.

This is why it is very important for us to always raise at least a descent U20 Team. This to me is our best bakery for the SE.

That does not take out the quality in that team. We didn't qualify because some big players were selecting the games they would play in.

A better Team Manager would have achieved a lot with that crop.

” As a coach, i wanted to win the nations cup. We got all the support needed from the NFF to excel at this level but we lost two key attackers, Wasiu Alalade to administrative issues and Victor Boniface to injury on the eve of the competition.

“These are important members of the team. Alalade was our highest goal scorer in the qualifiers while Boniface was key to our early success. Unfortunately, we had to travel without these two and it really affected the team.

“Reading most of the comments after the game has given us the confidence that we can do better in Poland. We plan to invite more young players to the team when we resume camp in March”,

-Aigbogun.

Alalade "administrative issues" was related to his age.

If he is serious, he would get us a true under 20 team for the world cup and stop the excuses.

He's got some nerve using age cheat Alalade's absence as an excuse.

But then the considering the term context he specifically said league it is therefore implied without ambiguity.

The way some African football fans place so much emphasis on this juju thing is ridiculous...
I observed that its more common among Zambians.. it all started after that 2017 u-20 AYC where a Senegal player was seen holding something that looked like juju on the pitch... Since that day,Zambian football fans start associating west African teams with juju...

South African Fans have also in times past accused Nigeria of using "Mutu" (there own name for "Juju''). Because it always amazed them how our mostly ill-prepared teams will always beat their always well prepared and motivated teams. grin Dem no know say na Class difference.

The Libyan coach last year also accused Nigeria of using "juju" I know he became more sure of this when we hammered them 4:0! grin

I don't see any big deal here. Religion is a personal issue. As long as no human sacrifices are made it should never be a story.

Erm I just Want to chip in a little somethimg about the age-cheat paro... Well I believe all Nigerian players cheat.... Wait

Its not a bad thing per say, and no be today he start but at the same time no be all of them cheat.... Atleats osaze, iwobi and our oyinbo breeds them might not cheat... It's a normal thing in football to remove 5-7 years off your age... I also had dreams of playing like all kids in the hood... It's normal... And thankfully it's being tackled and not very prevalent,

I'm my opinion removing 4-5 years no be anything really and I'm assuming most of our players(and Africa at large, South America and other part of the world still engage in the practice)...

Pls always make sure to remember that things are really different in Nigeria and Africa... Most of us just dey one academy dey train, maybe I'd be 25 and can easily slot for u20, GOD help you one team in Belgium sign u, you don go be that.... Do you know Raheem lawal(wole).. Played in turkey and handful of match for the super eagles, I remember when he played u23, meanwhile his immediate younger sister was older than me with 1 year (I was 22 then or so)..... Same with this guy okechukwu (okey) played for Chan eagles.. The lefty guy.... We played together once and his real age should be around 26-28,that I'm very sure of,cuz his junior brother man's their popsy spare part shop in my street and he should be 23-24...so it's not rocket science to reduce age...

But the Koko is if your not my parent, guardian or have my birth certificate, then whatever age you can deduce from my appearance is your problem... My age is the age i say my age it is....
