Jakumo:
My operation was carried out by a doctor whose office was at the time located on North Mountain Avenue, in Ontario, Southern California, not far from Ontario Airport.
That said, there are bound to be competent doctors who can carry out the procedure in absolute safety if you happen to live in Nigeria, though you will need to exercise due diligence in selecting the doctor to perform this simple procedure with the precision that is essential, to prevent complications post-surgery.
My surgery was done under local anesthetic, so after being given a couple of small injections on the chest, I could sit up fully conscious to observe the process, which was accompanied by a loud repetitive scraping noise, as the doctor separated my skin from the underlying tissue with a blunt instrument, while a steady stream of blood was vacuumed off by the nurse. It is vital the surgeon ensures ALL the fatty tissue beneath the nipple is cleanly removed, including the two narrow string-like structures called "tails" that extend upwards toward each armpit, along the lateral edges of the chest (pectoralis) muscle.
For week or two at the most after the surgery, the doctor will leave a tiny drain-pipe in the stitched-up cut through which the surgery was performed, to empty out fluids as the healing takes place under a light wound dressing. When that dressing comes off, and the tiny drain-pipe is extracted, there will still be some minor swelling that will subside completely in another week or so, at which point this minor medical condition that has inconvenienced you for so long, will cease to be a part of your life, forever.
Once again, do NOT pick an doctor whose reputation cannot be thoroughly investigated, because the are are risks of nerve damage or even infection that can ONLY be minimized by putting yourself in the hands of the most highly qualified and experienced surgeon one can afford.
All the best, my brother, and remember, don't allow anyone to steer you into hormonal treatment. That chit is really bad news to the human body. Surgery is your ONLY viable and SAFE option, if handled by the right doctor. This guy knows his shi.t. Really sound advice. 1 Like |

You need to take in a lot of vitamin C to correct the hormonal imbalance. You also need to regularly apply lime juice or shea butter on top of the affected nipple before you sleep to remove the pain and swelling. |

Good job. Scar looks too big Sha. A plastic surgeon will charge way more but do a better job greenskittles:
You can get this surgery done at the Obafemi Awolowo University teaching hospital. They'll examine it and recommend whether its right for your or not. My parents paid for mine and it cost about N300,000 including the ward I stayed, but I'm not completely sure if that was the final cost. It was done exactly a year ago (Feb 19th, 2018) and the scars are still there but it's progressively healing. If you eventually do make sure you use Shea butter after so the scars will go away faster, I should've known. I might probably get a tattoo to cover up my scars later on. I'm sorry I might not be able to provide so much information about it but I'd recommend you do it here, in India the surgery costs the equivalent of N700,000 and in the United States it costs well upward of N1 million. The doctors at OAU are very professional and you have nothing to worry about regarding their competence. Also, they'll take whatever they removed from your chest to the forensic department to be sure its just gynecomastia and not something more sinister. My life feels so much better now, I can wear properly fitted clothes without feeling insecure now.
****Also, if its just fat and not gyno they'll advise you to do more exercise and eat healthier. They'll examine you properly sha.
****Like someone else has stated, surgery is the ONLY option. Especially if the growth has stagnated as the doctors explained to me. At that point its just dead weight that has to be removed surgically. Mine was extremely large so I was sedated under general anaesthesia, the doctor said using local anaesthesia on me would require too much of it. It's a relatively short surgery, I think mine lasted for two hours and that's because of how big mine was. Man, it was weird being as skinny as I am, yet with giant mounds of god knows what on my chest.
****I should add that there a fraudulent doctors who'd offer to do it for far less, don't joke with your life. . . one hospital in Lagos offered to do it for N35,000. Seemed like a "great offer" until I met the consultants in OAU. The "equipment" alone that I needed to buy cost N60,000 (guaze, drains, medicine (I was given some drugs to use after the surgery for 3 days), etc)

You're healed in the name of Jesus. As for me I think you have no need to worry, this are normal body mechanics, in time it would go. The best solution for you I'll say is exercise, have regular exercise. This kind of things are caused mostly by fat accumulation, which also causes the imbalance of hormonal tissues. Putting your self on the right deit( mainly fruits and vegetables) and exercise would help a lot. 1 Like |

Started feeling pain exactly a year ago during NYSC at Kano on my right breast, did some online inquiry and suspected Gynecomastia, as i wasn't so sure, i went to the community hospital and the Doctor said it's what i suspected, and said it was as a result of Hormonal imbalance, he gave me drug prescription, which i took to the Pharmacy and sadly they had just one of the three, as i wasn't sure of taking an incomplete dosage, i didn't buy the drug... Sadly while packing my stuffs at the end of the service year i left the drug prescribed for me at Kano, now it seems the Gynecomastia won't go, although there as been no real increase in the size, but i still can't wear tight hug shirts like i used to...... need an advice on what to do, and by the way am 23..... although a medical friend said it will go away with time, he's still a medical student though..

I had this stuff around 18 years of age,it's quite self damaging,I lost interest in playing football and it made me stop till date, you cannot stand the embarrassment given to me each time I remove my shirt..Mine was damn too painful, mummy took me to General Hospital, after explaining the ordeal to the Doctor,he started laughing for like 3 minutes,if the ground had opened I would jumped into it,he just brushed it off that it will clear with time, that surgery is the last option. My parents bought his advice we left the hospital,I was left to my faith.I went to the gym house but the breast started growing more. Finally I removed my mind from it and moved on,it reduced a little. |

goodgirl247: My kid brother has gynaescomastia, I contacted a plastic surgeon in Lagos via their instagram page, Grandville med and laser. They said the surgery will cost N1m which we can't afford at the moment. Still looking for a permanent solution to my brothers man boob's. It's so big and it's beginning to fall, it has greatly reduced his self esteem. I'm so worried. Let Boobrisky take care of him. Just slide under her sorry his DM and explain your brother's conditions. He will help. |

Please see a Doctor to rule out adverse effect of a medication, as gynaecomastia could occur as a side effect of some medications and alcohol consumption could also cause that. Have your liver function checked as well and also hepatitis test. Let the cause be resolved before treatment as its not always as a result of hormonal imbalance; however, that could be a cause. 2 Likes |
