Pruning doesn't have a particular date or time once your Pepper has like 7 leaves you can do the pruning. A lot of videos on YouTube, even millions of it. FMCASH: 5 Likes 1 Share |

I don't know that big men do visit nairaland agriculture section or follow topics on it until this Monday morning when I received a call from a senior military man that he was in my area for a election and before going back to his base he would like to visit my farm. I was shocked when I saw two hilux van on my farm with military boys. The boss was very friendly and passionate about farming, I showed him my pepper nursery and he was impressed... But after a lot of discussion he insisted that he wanted to buy 2000 stands Of my pepper, I tried to persuade him but as you know khaki men no go gree. We counted it we got 1022 stands unpruned. So I only have 430 prune pepper in my farm now. So I have to visit Agrotropic to get a new 50gram seed again. I just did the nursery this morning. 7 Likes 1 Share

The same thing happened to our garden egg we were forced by a Catholic priest to sell the nursery to him, what can we do we can't argue with God's ambassador,so we agreed and sold 2000 stands to the church, even oyibo people read nairaland we currently on a joint venture farming partnership with pathmaker farms LLC, England on cucumbers, pepper and piggery production..they read our write up on NL and was impressed, and everything else happened like in a dream,we are also currently working on a 30 plot fresh pepper site,it will be planted with avenir f1 and when it will be harvested it will be dried, grind up and package adding more value.and least I forgot that avenir variety is what is called Cameron pepper when dried,I know we have agents in Cameron. 15 Likes |

Good evening Brothers, please what is the average Return of Investment of 200k state up capital in pepper farming Ogbongenet or Okroemaka? Please ur advice |
Re: 30k Twice A Week From My Pepper Farm by ogbongenet: 9:19pm On Feb 22, 2019 |
Assuming you buy 50gram of avenir seed 32k,minus or plus you will get minimum of 8000 seedlings stand which can cover more than an acre of land. To clear and heap an acre of land is not more 50k.chemicals and other miscellaneous 50k. From an acre of land you won't get less than 12-15 basket every 4days. TheBillionTeam: 10 Likes 3 Shares |

Re: 30k Twice A Week From My Pepper Farm by okoroemeka(m): 1:25am On Feb 23, 2019 |
ogbongenet:I don't know about basket measurements but we have harvested 5 bags(vital feed bag) every 4 days from 1000 stands of avenir for 2-3 months, the maximun peak yield was 7 bags,so it's safe to say that 1200 stands give or take will give a total average of 5 bags every 4 days for 4-5 months,an acre is a very big project even to harvest it will require not less than 8-10 workers to fully harvest 1 acre in one day. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Ken4agent:you can't use 5ft× 4 feet unless u have access to very large land mass, what we use is the length of an elephant shovel from plant to plant, that will give you 550-600 crop for one plot 1 Like 1 Share |

ogbongenet: Bro, i heard #7000 is the current price of a bag of Rodo because of the influx of the Hausa's pepper, though most buyers in my area said between mid next month and early April the price would pick up. But i was shocked when a buyer priced this for #600 last Friday .My question is : is it possible to reap back an investment of #96,000 from this farm, going by the rate of the current price? Note :this is the third time of harvest. 3 Likes 1 Share

ogbongenet: My Dad did all the dirty works while i was in Lagos hustling, so when i came home for New year's holiday, he told me he's done his bit, that i could take it from there. I have come to realise that one does not farm by proxy according to what my oga okoroemeka said, in the sense that : during the blasting sun of December up until last week ,i had to pump water from a nearby river twice a week to salvage what was left of the flood disaster, and the seedlings he got were from open market (New market at ijebu -ode) even though the harvest looks good ( sprayed Zforce and glue fertilizer twice in January as well). Oga okoroemeka said i should try and read more on pepper farming and that's exactly what I'm doing till i return to Lagos in April. 6 Likes 3 Shares

Avenir is too costly for farmer. Well last year i bought 10g of Avenir seed for N7000. I made six nursery beds; Then i planted the avenir seeds in one bed and the common open variety seeds( about 500g) On the other 5 nursery beds. My ppl i waited for 2week; the avenir seeds no gree sprout. Well i thank God for the open seed variety i bought for N5000; N1000 per milk cup. I watered the nursery bed were i planted the Avenir for a month; to no avail. My advice to yu guys is simple; If yu want to buy hybrid seed go ahead; bu let my story guide u. There is no insurance that covers ur purchase of such input.Avenir is too costly for farmer. Well last year i bought 10g of Avenir seed for N7000. You don't need to post and repost, your message was understood. I have heard similar story from 3 different people, that's why i don't advice people to buy the 5g sathcet of avenir, I think it's having problem though the 50gram is expensive but if you have someone to share with it's better.the germination is up to 80percent. ChristbusyDivine:you forgot one cardinal rule in planting hot peppers, let me tell u a secret don't tell anyone,if you want to do hot pepper norsery soak the seed for 24 hrs in slightly lukewarm water, then drain off water and soak for another 24 hrs in fresh normal water then you can plant, some seeds will have tiny white roots coming out,hot peppers are different from other pepper varieties in germination,it's a very very stubborn crop to germinate. 19 Likes 5 Shares |

muyiwaadekunle1:if u planted 500 hybrids you will be getting 2 bags /1 and half average every 4 days, that seed you bought in the open market are different hybrids planted by hausa guys and the waste/damaged pepper was processed and the seed removed by southern market women saying all seed is the same, that is a big,fat shining, white lie !!!! 2 Likes |

Last time I said, I have sold my nursed pepper to a general that insisted buying it. Immediately after the sales I bought another 50gram avenir f1 pepper and I did another nursery, thought I encountered a little problem with the nursery because after 4days when the seeds supposed to be sprouting out I discovered that it has been attacked.i don't know maybe it's lizard or rat, that night I placed a rodenticide inside the nursery bed ,you can't believe it the following morning I met a big male lizard inside the nursery (dead) .since then no more intruder. Picture below was taken today... I have a very good result... 6 Likes
