blue355:What was the reason given to you as per why the account was shut down? Generally, a bank won’t allow you to reopen an account with them if you had an account that was shut down previously depending on what the reason was. Sometimes for as long as 7 years. You can try opening another account with Wells Fargo, they’re more lenient with the docs needed to open an account especially for non resident aliens. 1 Like |

MamaOO: they closed it because the account was dormant and they sent KYC forms to the US addy and got no reply i'm in naija now. will it be possible to open an account in wells fargo, without being there in person |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by MamaOO: 2:50pm On Feb 27, 2019 |
blue355:I don’t think it’s possible to open an account without being present since you’re non-resident in the US. If you were a US citizen or a green card holder, some banks allow you to open account online. But I don’t think that will apply to you. Best best is to hold on to the check until you have time to come to the US, open an account and deposit it in there. 2 Likes |

I THINK YOU SHOULD TRY ZENITH OR GTB, THEY ALLOW FOREIGN CHEQUES AND DRAFT ONLY THAT THE NUMBER OF CLEARING DAYS IS ABOUT 7/14days. quote author=MamaOO post=76185599] I don’t think it’s possible to open an account without being present since you’re non-resident in the US. So I went for my 221G interview today... . Brief history : I got my 1st Visa in 2014 and I declared it was for birthing during the interview, I gave birth In 2015 and renewed my visa via dropbox in 2016. I had my 2nd baby in 2017 and also went on vacation in 2018. Fast forward to Dec 2018, we applied for dropbox but we got the letter to schedule a follow up appointment in Jan after 5weeks. .. We got Feb 27th for the interview date. So many people were at the embassy for 221G interview. Got to our turn Me and DH: good morning VO: how many kids did you have in the US? Me: 2 VO: can I see your payment receipt Me: hands over the well arranged receipts per birth itemised bill from both hosp and doctor (I used Maryland for both delivery, same hosp and doctor and paid about 11k dollars per birth) VO: what are you going to do in the US? Me: vacation VO: how long? Me: 3 weeks VO: where are you going to and do you have someone there? Me: Maryland and yes, my uncle VO: wat do you do Me and DH: blah blah blah VO starts to detach pur old passports from the bundle and I knew at that point that she was going to give us. VO hands over the white paper and told us to pick up our passports in 3days. Am so relieved and happy . What I heard from other people's interview is that itemised bill is a must have and they frown at huge discount. Heard a VO telling a pregnant lady that the discount she got for her previous birth was too much and she denied her. Another man was denied cos he didn't come with his wife's itemised bill instead he came with a letter saying she's not owing. I also noticed the VO was checking something on the wall in her cubicle : as if they have price list of how much hospital bills shld be per state. I wish other people going for interview good luck oh 8 Likes |

Congratulations on the success of your interview. Oakbend refused to send my itemized bill. when i inquired from them why, i was told it has been sent with the Zero Balance as Hard copy before i left the US in march 2017. I got the zero balance but i did not get any itemized bill. I am beginning to think that Oakbend Medical Center is doing something shady. I also request from Julie Medina (Oakbend Accounting officer) to send me a soft copy, she said she has sent it to an email address. only to find out that the email Address is not even mine or DW and she is sounding like it cannot be sent again. So please what can I do and also what does the itemized bill look like. Can some one share with me what an Itemized bill looks like. lydia.fregene@gmail.com. Thank you Marylandmama: |

Marylandmama:Please how much was your discount because mine from oakbend was about 9800 is that too much |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by Marylandmama: 8:30pm On Feb 27, 2019 |
Greatg0809: Maryland hardly gives discount. .. They gave me just 1% discount which is less than $20. I noticed the VO kept on checking the bottom of the itemized bill to see if there was any significant discount . Can't say if ur discount is too much.. . But I can tell you that they frown at low medical bills aand huge discount. 1 Like |

I have been on the phone with a few hospital reps over the last couple of days and one thing they emphasized was that everyone has to be treated fairly and on that note if you are self pay, you are entitled to a certain percentage of discount. I told them I wasn’t interested in the discounted package and they said it is standard procedure for them and that’s what keeps them at a competitive edge. At this stage, I’m running out of ideas as to decide on what step to take next. Please who knows of any hospital in Houston that offers a non-discounted package? Help a sister, thanks. 1 Like |

JMarines: Good morning, Please can you kinda send a copy of the itemized bill to me too? I applied for my visa renewal last week via Dropbox and I haven't received any feedback since them. I want to start getting ready with necessary documents should they ask me to schedule an interview. I have some print out documents from J.H Stroger but I don't know whether those suffice as itemized billing or not; so I can contact them for the right documents. I will appreciate your response please. Thanks. email is: @gmail.com |

please I have never left Nigeria or even applied for visa before so these things I am reading here is quite strange. I would love to give birth to my next kid in U.S.A or Canada but as a JJC I'm scared of been stranded cash wise . please I would love if you guys can help answer the following questions: 1. which is cheaper between USA or Canada? 2. how much do I need for visa and the total costs for me and my mom, please the amount should be in naira, I'm not too good with dollar equivalent? 3. is a budget of 3million naira enough? 4. do I need to travel there before delivery or will a virgin passport be rejected? please I would love answers from experienced people, thanks. 1 Like |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by dere5: 1:51pm On Feb 28, 2019 |
irynterri: 1) I can't really say which is cheaper between USA & Canada 2) visa fee is $160 each, which should be approximately around 58k each in naira 3) I don't think 3 Million naira total budget will do it, cause that's less than $10k 4) You don't need to have travelled before, people have gotten visas here on virgin passport |
